Mr. Frosty
| ||||||||||||||||
|
Mr. Frosty is a recurring Mid-Boss in the Kirby series. He appears in several games, starting with Kirby's Adventure. In Kirby's Adventure and its remake, inhaling him grants Kirby the Freeze ability; in other games, however, he instead grants the Ice ability.
Mr. Frosty is bipedal and walrus-like, wearing overalls with a noticeable patch or opening on the rump. His main method of attack is to toss blocks of ice at Kirby or try to body slam him. Other attacks may include trying to chase after Kirby and eat him, or using acrobatics to jump at him.
Physical appearance
Mr. Frosty is a white walrus-like creature, who wears black overalls with blue buttons (blue overalls with purple stripes in Kirby: Triple Deluxe) and icy blue shoes. He is occasionally recolored red or green. In Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Mr. Frosty gets a deluxe form, known as Mr. Frosty DX. In this form, he is more of a vanilla color, with green feet, red overalls with yellow stripes, and a black lip instead of a blue one.
Other variants of Mr. Frosty include his bright swimsuit-wearing cousin Mr. Floaty from Super Kirby Clash, and the disheveled feral Beast Pack version from Kirby and the Forgotten Land called Wild Frosty.

Kirby's Pinball Land
In Kirby's Pinball Land, Mr. Frosty appears in the lowermost board of Poppy Brothers' Land. Kirby can bump into him to earn 480 points and make his overalls slip for a moment. After being bumped 6 times, Mr. Frosty will change his pose, and should Kirby run into him again, the overalls-wearing walrus will grab him. From there, the player can time a release with the A button to make Mr. Frosty release Kirby in one of four directions.
Kirby's Dream Land 2
Acting exactly the same as in Kirby's Adventure (save for giving Ice instead of Freeze), Mr. Frosty reappears in Kirby's Dream Land 2.

Kirby's Toy Box
Mr. Frosty makes two notable appearances in this collection of mini-games, one being the Arrange Ball where nine of them highlight occupied holes and one large lies in the background, and the other in Pinball where he serves as one of the better targets on the board.
Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra
Mr. Frosty is a Mid-Boss once again in Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra. He attacks the same way as previous games and is first fought at Float Islands. For the first time in the series, he is weak to fire-based attacks and resists ice-based attacks.

Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble
Mr. Frosty makes a somewhat strange appearance in Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble. Here, he is not a mid-boss, nor can he actually harm Kirby. Instead, he appears in Lvl 3-1 riding a surfboard and carrying a Red Star. When Kirby gets close, Mr. Frosty will try to ride away from Kirby, taking the Red Star with him. If Kirby collides directly with Mr. Frosty, he will be bounced away similar to a bumper. Kirby will need to grab the Red Star from Mr. Frosty before the walrus gets away with it.
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
Mr. Frosty is a mid-boss in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, now named Mr. Flosty in English. He is identical to his appearance in Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, save for being able to now throw ice blocks in two different sizes.

“ | Tame the wild Ice Beast who stalks the moonlit lake! | ” | — Quest description from Team Kirby Clash |
Mr. Frosty is one of the opponents that must be faced in the Sub-Game Team Kirby Clash. Here, he is much larger and with greater health. He also can throw more than one ice block at a time, in an effort to hit multiple Kirbys.
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe
“ | The very ground quakes as the ice beast rampages--this time in the Ruins! | ” | — Tough Quest flavor text from Team Kirby Clash Deluxe |
Mr. Frosty returns in the expanded Sub-Game, appearing on three separate occasions to battle Team Kirby. New moves include elaborate acrobatics and quick icy spins.
Kirby Battle Royale
“ | This headgear has the cutest eyes. Great for looking innocent. | ” | — Mr. Frosty Hat description from Kirby Battle Royale |
In Kirby Battle Royale, there is an unlockable type of headgear for Ice Kirby based on Mr. Frosty, complete with his rump on the back. It is called the Mr. Frosty Hat, and it costs 750 Battle Coins.
Kirby Star Allies
Mr. Frosty appears in Kirby Star Allies, with a slightly different design from his previous appearances, and is the first among the many mid-bosses that Kirby and his friends will face in the game. He is somewhat larger than he has been in other main series titles, and has obtained new overalls which no longer have a hole in the rump (though it is still hard to miss). He also has a harder variation much like all the other mid-bosses with some new attacks and upgrades to his already-existing attacks. Curiously, unlike the other Mid-Bosses in this title, Mr. Frosty cannot be recruited directly as an ally, instead being replaced by Chilly if a Friend Heart is tossed at him once he's down.
The following is a list of attacks Mr. Frosty can perform as a mid-boss in Kirby Star Allies. Italics denote variations done by his harder variation only.
Mr. Frosty’s attacks as a mid-boss in Kirby Star Allies | |||
---|---|---|---|
Attack | Description | Variants | |
Jump | Mr. Frosty hops in place once, twice or three times. | He may spin around while jumping in place three times. | |
Charge | Mr. Frosty hops back and then runs forward before belly-sliding past a targeted character. He can also be dazed if he runs into a wall. | His harder version turns around before belly-sliding. In phase 1, he turns around once. In phase 2, he turns around twice. | |
Snowball/Snowman | Mr. Frosty pulls out a snowball, throws it high in the air and then pushes it forward, either bouncing it along with his butt or pushing it forward with his arms. He might sometimes throw out two snowballs which form a snowman before launching it. The snowman makes higher bounces compared to the snowballs. | His regular variation's snowballs and snowmen are small and the snowballs lightly bounce along the ground. His harder variation's snowballs and snowmen are bigger and the snowballs roll on the ground. | |
Bellyflop | Mr. Frosty jumps high in the air and then bellyflops onto a chosen target. The targeted character is flattened temporarily if the attack connects. | He can do two small hops before bellyflopping or proceed straight to the bellyflop. When his harder variation lands from a bellyflop, a small ice shard appears in front of Mr. Frosty for a few seconds. His harder variation, should he immediately start bellyflopping, does this three times in a row in the second phase, with the last bellyflop producing the ice shard. | |
Swallow Charge | Mr. Frosty opens his mouth wide and proceeds to dash forward. He will eventually belly-slide if he passes a targeted character that's above him. He can also be dazed if he runs into a wall. If a character gets caught on ground-level, they are quickly eaten and will take rapid damage. Rapidly moving the Control Stick will cause the trapped character to escape faster. | The dash maneuver is done a little bit faster for his harder variation's battle. |

He is first seen after everyone chooses their vehicles, where he catches up to King Dedede, who had been far in the lead. The two of them get into a fight, and go off-track. After being so focused on fighting, they remember the race, and head to the spicy food-eating challenge. As everyone reacts to the food's painful spiciness, Kirby inhales Mr. Frosty to soothe the pain. The other contestants soothe their pain by eating the ice that Kirby breathes out, but Mr. Frosty cannot because he is inside Kirby. When Kirby releases Mr. Frosty, he runs off to find a lake to quench his thirst. After he finally finds one, Mr. Frosty angrily attacks Kirby for inhaling him. He damages Kirby's Warp Star, and knocks out his Mike ability, freeing Walky. Walky and Mr. Frosty head back to the race, leaving Kirby behind. The other contestants eventually arrive to help them.
