Blade Knight (anime character)
- This article is about the character in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!. For the enemy from the video games, see Blade Knight.
Blade Knight (Blade for short) is a recurring supporting character in the anime series Kirby: Right Back at Ya!. He is one of Meta Knight's apprentices, along with his companion Sword Knight.
In the English dub, Blade Knight is basically unintelligible when he speaks, perhaps due to the fact that he always wears a mask that completely covers his face. Sometimes, certain words can be heard from him, typically character names. In the original Japanese version, as well as in other dubs of the show, Blade Knight is capable of speaking clearly.
Blade Knight is characterized as a studious and loyal, yet somewhat inexperienced swordsman. Much like Sword Knight, Blade Knight takes his role as apprentice to Meta Knight as almost the only thing he is obliged to, and as such, does not engage with the other characters socially. Blade Knight often coordinates with Sword Knight while dealing with a monster or a task and the two seldom clash with each-other - as they have known each-other longer than they have any of the other cast members - but they also come across as largely interchangeable in personality, similar to Fololo & Falala.
In the episode Hour of the WolfWrath, Sword Knight and Blade Knight are revealed to have once been road-side bandits and attempted to rob Meta Knight once before he saved them from WolfWrath. It was this act that led them to swear loyalty to him. Because of this history and despite their loyalty, both Sword and Blade are somewhat temperamental and undisciplined, which sometimes leads them into trouble. However, they have permanently left their criminal pasts behind, and do not disturb the people of Cappy Town.
The following is a complete list of all of Blade Knight's appearances in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, along with other information regarding his role in each episode:
(due to his muffled speech in the English dub, his quotes are derived from the Japanese version of the show)

Sword and Blade initially ignore this order and try to avenge their master, but WolfWrath forces them to withdraw and get everyone to safety in the castle. Tiff tries to reason with them, reminding them of Meta Knight's orders, and then asks them how they came to be under Meta Knight's tutelage in the first place. The two recount their story, explaining that during the war between the Star Warriors and eNeMeE, they were reduced to becoming roadside bandits in order to survive. They tried to ambush Meta Knight, but ended up getting caught up in his running battle with WolfWrath. Meta Knight saved them from this monster, resulting in the two swearing their loyalty to him.
After telling this tale, WolfWrath escapes the castle out into the countryside, leaving Sword and Blade honor-bound to try and stop it from attacking Dream Land. Kirby joins them using Meta Knight's sword Galaxia, and together, they manage to trap WolfWrath in a large pond, weakening it enough so that Kirby can finish it off using a Sword Beam.

- Both Kirby Super Star Ultra's Meta Knightmare Ultra and Kirby Mass Attack's Kirby Quest feature Meta Knight with a Sword Knight and Blade Knight at his side. These two supporting knights are very likely meant to represent Sword and Blade from the anime.
- Blade Knight's Japanese voice actor is interestingly female.
