- This article is about green, electric goop-like enemy, and should not be confused with Spark-i.
Sparky is an enemy that has appeared in several games of the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Adventure. It is a drop-shaped life form, usually green or turquoise in color, with a pair of oval, black eyes, and two orbs that were connected to stalks on its body in older games, (presumably hands, but resembled eyes in its original artwork), which it uses to generate electric power. In more recent games, the orbs are not attached to stalks and simply stay attached close to its body. Sparky's only form of defense is creating an electrical barrier around itself, much like that of the Spark Copy Ability, which Sparky provides when swallowed by Kirby. In terms of movement, Sparky typically either sits in place or hops around at a decent pace.
Game appearances[edit]
Kirby's Adventure/Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land[edit]

Kirby's Adventure.
Sparky made its first appearance in Kirby's Adventure, first appearing along with Waddle Doo and Hot Head in Stage 1 of Vegetable Valley. Here is where its basic look and behavior was established. Sparky comes in several colors depending on the level (blue, orange, green, etc.). As with most other enemies, Sparky also appears in Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.
Locations[edit]
Sparky can be found in the following levels and stages:
Kirby's Pinball Land[edit]
Sparky appears as one of the enemies in Poppy Brothers' Land. It can appear in the 'thought bubble' on the left-hand Kirby on the second level, and will emerge if that Kirby is hit during that moment. If Sparky is then hit, a bonus is rewarded to the player.
Kirby's Dream Course[edit]
Sparky appears in this game as one of the enemies that can be defeated on courses to open up the hole. Kirby merely needs to run into one to defeat it, and gain the Spark ability in the process.
Locations[edit]
In Kirby's Dream Course, Sparky can be found in the following courses and holes:
Kirby's Dream Land 2 & Kirby's Dream Land 3[edit]

Kirby Super Star / Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]
In Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra, Sparky can be seen in the audience in the fight against King Dedede, as well as in the Megaton Punch sub-game.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[edit]

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Sparky made its debut appearance in 3D here. It is the primary provider of the Spark ability, though it shares that power with many other enemies. Sparky appears on the 73rd Enemy Info Card.
Sparky should not be confused with the similarly-named, but very different in character enemy Spark-i.
Locations[edit]
In Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Sparky can be found in the following levels and stages:
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror & Kirby: Squeak Squad[edit]

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.
Sparky appears in both of these games, looking and acting exactly as it has in Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.
When possessed by Ghost Kirby, Sparky can be made to hop short distances, jump further, and produce its spark barrier, though it is far weaker than Kirby's version.
Locations[edit]
In Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Sparky can be found in every major area of the Mirror World.
In Kirby: Squeak Squad, Sparky can be found in the following levels and stages:

In the Kirby novel series[edit]
In the Kirby novel series, Sparky makes a brief appearance in Kirby Meets the Squeak Squad!. He is a very short-tempered citizen of Dream Land who lives in a small house near Castle Dedede.
In Kirby Meets the Squeak Squad!, when Kirby is chasing after the Squeaks in the middle of the night, Doc and Spinni stand in his way while Daroach escapes with the treasure. Before Kirby can fight them, Sparky comes in to complain about all the racket. Kirby notices that they are right in front of his house. Sparky is mad at them for making noise in front of his house at such an hour, and adds that he was having such a good dream too. Kirby gets an idea, and inhales Sparky to gain the Spark ability. He uses it to give Spinni and Doc a good shock to get them out of the way. Kirby catches up to Daroach, shocks him, and then takes the treasure back. Kirby then drops his Spark ability, freeing Sparky, who is now even more angry about being inhaled. After Kirby thanks him for the help and wishes him a good night, Sparky unhappily leaves, now wide-awake.
