Stage 3 of Kirby's Block Ball is the third of eleven stages in the game, featured as a Kabu-shaped island in the bottom-right corner of the map. This stage features five rounds and the Spark Copy Ability, and hosts Big Kabu as its boss. The Border Line score for this stage is 125000 points.

Intro cutscene[edit]

After the stage is selected, a brief cutscene plays which demonstrates how to obtain and use the Spark ability. Kirby collides into a Sparky to gain the power, and then uses it to blast through an array of blocks. Once finished, Kirby uncurls and hops in place in excitement.

Overview[edit]

Stage 3 consists of three Block Areas, one Target-Shooting Area featuring Kabu, and a Boss Area against Big Kabu. These rooms are lain out as follows:

Round Description

Round 3-1
The first area features an open formation of various blocks with some Ability Blocks thrown in and a Sparky patrolling inside, with lines of blocks along the sides. Once Kirby defeats the Sparky and obtains the Spark ability, he can clear through this barricade with little trouble. Along the way, a Warp Star can be found hidden in the bottom-left corner below the blocks which will take Kirby to a Sub-Game.

The round is clear once all blocks (except Ability Blocks) are removed.

Round 3-2
The second area features a formation of blocks walled in using Indestructible Block barriers. A paddle can be utilized on the right side to help gain access to this formation, with two Twizzys and a Sparky on guard. Deep inside the formation, a Switch Star and a Score Block can be found, the former of which will initiate a Bonus Chance if touched. Clearing the Bonus Chance can be a tricky affair on this board, especially if Kirby gets stuck behind the barriers or if he loses the Spark ability.

The round is clear once all White and Gray Blocks are removed.

Round 3-3
The third area features a dense formation of blocks with White Blocks dominating two adjacent sides, while Gray Blocks dominate the opposing sides. Paddles occupy each side of the board, a Wheelie which drops a Block Flip item occupies the left side, and a Score Block can be uncovered underneath the Switch Star in the middle of the formation. Interspersed in the formation are small Indestructible Blocks, which can make passing through the formation difficult, particularly during the Bonus Chance.

The round is clear once all White and Gray Blocks are removed.

Round 3-4 (Target-Shooting)
The fourth area features an array of Star Blocks and a couple blocks of other varieties which cradle a Kabu who patrols the upper-middle area of the board. Hitting Kabu four times will cause it to retreat, and a Warp Star to appear which will take Kirby to the Boss Area when touched.

The area is complete once Kirby touches the Warp Star.

Round 3-5 (boss)
In the last area, Kirby must contend with Big Kabu, who does not move from its spot, instead attacking by shooting out smaller Kabus toward the paddles to shrink them. Using the Spark ability, Kirby can deal twice as much damage per hit, meaning that with a little luck, Big Kabu can be defeated very quickly to clear the stage.
