Zan Partizanne is a boss who made her debut in Kirby Star Allies. She is described as the Lightning General of the Three Mage-Sisters (the others two being Francisca and Flamberge). She is also the highest-ranking general of the trio, taking orders directly from Hyness, the main antagonist of the game.

As her title implies, Zan Partizanne uses electricity in battle, conducted through her polearm when she swings at the Star Allies, as well as a giant set of drums she straps onto her back.

She is first faced in battle at the end of Heavenly Hall in Jambastion. Once defeated, she destroys the core of the fortress, prompting the Star Allies to escape before it collapses. Zan Partizanne is faced again at The Divine Terminus, just before the battle with Hyness.

Attacks

The following lists all of Zan Partizanne's attacks. Attacks in italics are used during the second phase only.

Zan Partizanne's Attacks during the first battle in Kirby Star Allies
Attack Description
ザン・ザン
Zan Slash
Zan Partizanne slashes with her spear. The slash reach is short compared to her thrusting attacks.
  • ザン can also be written as 斬 (slash).
ザン・サザン
Zan Down Thrust
Zan Partizanne jumps and thrusts down her spear, creating an electric barrier and Recoil Stars around her on impact.
ザン・サウザンド
Zan Thousand
Zan Partizanne rapidly thrusts her spear while dashing, finishing with a forceful thrust.
カミナリオコシ
Thunder Candies
Zan Partizanne begins with this attack during the second phase of her first battle.

She conjures a kit of three drums that resemble the ones wielded by Raijin, the Japanese god of lightning.

  • Her drums will explode when taking enough hits from Artist or Water/Splash-augment attacks, leaving her stunned and vulnerable to attacks from Kirby & his allies.

As long as her drums are not destroyed, she may fire parabolic electric blasts from the drums for 5 rounds, leaving stars on impact:

  • Round one & two: one shot from each drum
  • Round three: 3-shot burst from each drum
  • Round four: 5-shot burst from each drum
  • Final round: one shot from each drum that focus on the center of the floor and create a huge eletric barrier there

Under her is the safety zone where the electric blasts can't hit Kirby & his allies.

  • カミナリオコシ(雷粔籹)[1] is a kind of wagashi (Japanese traditional confections), well-known as a souvernir from the Kaminarimon ("Thunder Gate") that ultimately leads to the temple Sensō-ji in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan.
Lightning Lemonade Zan Partizanne points up her spear to summon a thundercloud above her. She drops a lightning bolt from the cloud on her both sides for 3 rounds, leaving stars on impact.
She attacks on:
  • one side of the stage,
  • the center,
  • the other side of the stage.

The middle under her is the safety zone where the lightning bolts on her both sides can't hit Kirby & his allies.

Electro Eclair

Zan Partizanne conjures her Raijin drums in order to use this attack, similar to 'Thunder Candies'.

  • Again, her drums will explode when taking enough hits from Artist or Water/Splash-augment attacks.

As long as her drums are not destroyed, she may use her drums as a bow and shoot her spear horizontally like an arrow.
Then, she fires a giant electric laser from her drums toward the spear (acting as a lightning rod), creating sparks on the floor as well as and stars bouncing from the spear.

  • Eclair is the the original codename for Kirby Star Allies. There is also an Extra Stage called Extra Eclair.
Attack names are taken from Japanese guide book.

When she is fought again on The Divine Terminus, Zan Partizanne's attacks are more elaborate, but still fundamentally the same.

Zan Partizanne's Attacks during the second battle in Kirby Star Allies
Attack Description
ザン・ザン
Zan Slash
Similar to her first battle.
ザン・サザン
Zan Down Thrust
Unlikes in her first battle, Zan Partizanne may perform this three times in a row.
ザン・サウザンド
Zan Thousand
Unlikes in her first battle, Zan Partizanne may turn around when doing the final thrust.
Lightning Lemonade Turn Unlikes in her first battle, Zan Partizanne drops 5 rounds of lightning bolts instead. She attacks on:
  • one side of the stage,
  • the center,
  • the other side of the stage,
  • (turns around) the center,
  • back to the starting side.
Rare Electro Eclair Zan Partizanne begins with this attack during the second phase of her second battlet.

Unlike 'Electro Eclair' in her first battle, she moves higher and shoots her spear laser diagonally downward instead.
However, this time under her is the safety zone where neither the spear nor the sparks can hit Kirby & his allies.

カミナリオコシ・オンド
Thunder Candies Onde
Unlike 'Thunder Candies' in her first battle, Zan Partizanne fires electric blasts for 4 rounds instead:
  • The first three rounds are all rapid-fire bursts.
  • The final round is still one shot from each drum that focus on the center of the floor and create a huge eletric barrier there.
  • Onde means 'wave' in French.
Attack names are taken from Japanese guide book.

Music

Zan Partizanne's battle theme is titled わすらるる閃光せんこうのライトニング[2] (The Forgotten Flash Lightning, a reference to how her name is often forgotten).

It's a rock version of the leitmotiv from Prayer song to God/Song of Supplication, the battle theme of Francisca and Flamberge.
