Mecha is a Copy Ability that debuted in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe as an addition to the base game, making its first appearance along with Sand. With this ability, Kirby gains a futuristic helmet with a translucent visor similar to the one for Jet Kirby, and also gains two mechanical fists and two giant cannons (which also function as a jetpack) on his back which are painted blue.

Kirby can use this gear to fire his Blaster Cannon at enemies using the cannons on his back, punch them up close with his Blazing Palm, release a Sizz-Zap Burst that can light up dark places, target skyborne enemies with Fireball Mortars, or place a Shock Bomb downwards. This ability also comes with a unique dash and hover where Kirby uses his jetpacks.

Mecha is exclusively obtained from Armoroid, a new enemy added in the remake.

Charge Blaster	Hold B for a short time and release	Fires an energy shot forwards that pierces through enemies but not walls.
Full-Charge Blaster	Hold B for a long time	Fires a laser forwards that pierces through enemies and walls.
Full-Charge Storage	L or R while Full-Charge Blaster is ready	Stores the charge from Full-Charge Blaster, letting it be fired at any time by tapping B.
Rocket Dash	Dash	Kirby glides across the ground using the rocket boosters. The exhaust can damage enemies behind Kirby.
Shock Knuckle	B while dashing	Kirby dashes forwards as his fist gets engulfed in electricity, shocking enemies in his way.
Rocket Brakes	↓ + B during Shock Knuckle	Kirby creates a shockwave in front of him and jumps backwards slightly.
Quick Full-Charge Blaster	Hold ↓ + B during Shock Knuckle	Kirby will instantly charge a Full-Charge Blaster when Rocket Brakes completes.
Fireball Mortars	↑ + B	Kirby fires two fireballs forward in an upward arc. They can light cannon fuses and break ice blocks.
Rocket Flight	Hold A in midair	Replaces standard hover. The exhaust can damage enemies behind Kirby.
Shock Bomb	↓ + B while in midair	Kirby drops a time bomb that explodes with electricity and causes a lightning strike either after a short while or on contact with an enemy.
Battery Bracer	↓	Kirby crouches down, readying his cannons.
Faster Blaster	B during Battery Bracer	Kirby fires 4 small energy shots in a row.
Shock Counter	B right after being attacked while guarding	Kirby counter-attacks by dashing forwards as his fist gets engulfed in electricity, shocking the attacker.
Blazing Palm	B near an enemy	Kirby grabs the enemy with his glove as it releases fire, burning the enemy.
Inferno Palm	B repeatedly near an enemy	Kirby releases more and bigger fire from his gloves to finish the combo.
Sizz-Zap Burst	↓, then ↑ + B	Kirby rises slightly, then releases fire to his sides and sparks above him. This can illuminate dark areas, and the fire parts of the move can light fuses and destroy ice blocks.

Trivia

• The armor Kirby gains when copying Mecha strongly resembles the Gundam from the Mobile Suit Gundam series.
  • More specifically, however, Mecha Kirby's attacks seem to take heavy inspiration from Metal General.
• Mecha is Kenta Nakanishi's favorite Copy Ability from Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe.
