Spire Vine

“ | You know those Spire Vines that grow tall, then shrink? Well, look for the purple Spire Vines. There's one around here that, if you topple it when it's shorter, will smash through to a medal. You might be tempted to topple those tall Spire Vines while standing on their left side, right? Keep in mind that, if you go over Spire Vines, you can then topple them from the other side too. |
” | — Daroach, in Kirby Mass Attack |
Spire Vines are devices found in Kirby Mass Attack. They are flowers with a thin green stem and a round bulb at the top. The Kirbys can pummel the bulb of a Spire Vine to topple or roll the flower (depending on the variant), defeating any enemies in its way. Spire Vines may vary in their color, the length of their stem, their movement pattern or the size of their bulb. They will topple in the opposite direction that the Kirbys are pummeling them. Spire Vines will be destroyed instantly when touched by Kirbys under the effect of a Jumbo Candy.
Spire Vine seeds appear exclusively in Stage 2 of Sandy Canyon. If continuously watered by a Flickerfloof, these seeds will grow into a wilted Spire Vine and will eventually blossom into a regular Spire Vine.
Variants[edit]
Listed below are the four variants of Spire Vines that can be found in Kirby Mass Attack.
- Orange Spire Vine: A Spire Vine with an orange bulb. As it topples, it will destroy any foes or blocks underneath it. This variant confers 200 points onto the player when pummeled. It also yields fruit.
- Purple Spire Vine: A Spire Vine with a purple bulb. Apart from the aesthetic difference, the purple Spire Vine grows and shrinks repeatedly in a pattern, allowing the player to choose the height at which the flower topples to effectively aim at targets. Once a Kirby starts pummeling the purple Spire Vine, its height will remain fixed until it topples. This variant confers 500 points onto the player when pummeled, but it does not drop fruit.
- Tall orange Spire Vine: A Spire Vine with a tall stem that the Kirbys must find a way over. This variant confers 400 points onto the player when pummeled, along with apples, bananas, and a melon.
- Large Spire Vine: A Spire Vine with an orange, large bulb that rolls when pummeled, destroying everything in its path until it hits a solid wall. This variant confers 1000 points onto the player.
