Stage 8 of Kirby's Block Ball is the eighth of eleven stages in the game, featured as a big tree island in the top-left of the map. This stage features five rounds and the Burn Copy Ability, and hosts Whispy Woods as its boss. The Border Line score for this stage is 138000 points.

Intro cut-scene[edit]

A portion of the intro cut-scene, demonstrating the Burn ability.

After the stage is selected, a brief cut-scene plays which demonstrates how the Burn ability works. Kirby bounces into a Flamer in the middle of the area to collect the ability. From there, he circles around a Waddle Dee and then, once Kirby is below the Waddle Dee, he activates the power and crashes into the hapless creature to defeat it. After crashing into the Waddle Dee, it flies away charred, and Kirby does a victory dance.

Overview[edit]

Stage 8 consists of three Block Areas, one Target-Shooting Area featuring a tiny Whispy Woods, and a Boss Area against an appropriately-sized Whispy Woods. These rooms are lain out as follows:

Round Description
Block Ball Stage 8-1.jpg
Round 8-1
The first area features a block formation which takes the shape of a bushy tree. Spike beds and paddles occupy all four sides. Tucked away below the 'canopy' of the 'tree' to the right is a Flamer which grants the Burn ability when crashed into. In a gap in the middle of the blocks is a Kirby Replica item and a Switch Star which activates a Bonus Chance.

The round ends once all blocks are removed.

Round 8-2
The second area features a block formation across the middle which forms a switchback hall of Indestructible and Ability blocks, which can make traversal tricky. Paddles and spike beds occupy the top and bottom sides. In the lower left is a Flamer and in the upper right is a Bomber which drops the Crash item when defeated. Below the Bomber is a Switch Star which activates a Bonus Chance, though it may be helpful to activate the Crash first if possible.

The round ends once all White Blocks are removed.

Round 8-3
The third area features a formation of mainly Gray Blocks which take the form of a crab. The formation is surrounded on all sides by paddles and spike beds. In the middle is a Score Block, and up top are two Switch Stars which activate the Bonus Chance when collected. A Twister can be found above the formation which drops a Block Swap when defeated.

The round ends once all White and Gray Blocks are removed.

Round 8-4 (Target-Shooting)
The fourth area features a few rows of Star Blocks with a couple Score Blocks in the upper corners. In the middle is a small Whispy Woods who holds position. Spikes and paddles occupy all sides except the top. Once Whispy is hit four times, he retreats, leaving behind a Warp Star for Kirby to take to the Boss Area.

The area is complete once Kirby touches the Warp Star.

Round 8-5 (boss)
In the last area, Kirby must contend with Whispy Woods, who does not move from his position in the middle of the board and whose canopy takes up the entire upper portion of the area. Whispy Woods attacks by shooting Air Bullets and by throwing Gordos en-masse from his canopy which can shrink paddles on impact and can knock Kirby away. Whispy Woods has 12 hit points, though these do not count for much if Kirby manages to get in the right spot with the Burn ability. Once Whispy is defeated, the stage is cleared.
