Suplex
| ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Suplex is a Copy Ability primarily which allows Kirby to grab and toss his foes in several different ways to defeat them. This ability is provided by Mid-Bosses Bugzzy, Jukid, and Phan Phan (in Kirby Super Star Ultra), though Bugzzy is the primary representative of the ability. When Kirby obtains this ability, he gains a blue headband similar to the red band of the Fighter ability, and gains a darker tone to his skin in Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra. In Kirby Star Allies, Kirby keeps his normal skin tone, but the headband is changed to resemble a wrestling belt.

Kirby Super Star / Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]
The Suplex ability made its debut in Kirby Super Star, where it is primarily obtained from the mid-bosses Bugzzy and Jukid, the former of which being the representative helper for the ability. Kirby can also obtain the Suplex ability through a Copy Essence Deluxe, and in Kirby Super Star Ultra, it is also provided by the mid-boss Phan Phan. With this ability, Kirby gets darker skin and a blue headband, similar to that of the Fighter ability. His main attacks consist of grabbing opponents and tossing them in various ways, though he also gains a downwards kick that he can use on opponents who cannot be grabbed directly.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]
Suplex returns in Kirby Star Allies, where it is once again obtained from Bugzzy. Like Fighter and Beetle, Suplex can be used to perform Friend Throw, making it one of the few abilities which shares a Friend Ability with another. Aside from that, its moveset is more-or-less the same as it was in Kirby Super Star, although it can now damage bosses using Dash Grab and Turbo Dash Grab.

Trivia[edit]
- Suplex and Plasma were the only 3D-debuting returning abilities which did not receive any new official artwork in Kirby Star Allies. The website reuses their Kirby Super Star Ultra artwork.
- The Wrestler ability is heavily based off of the Suplex ability and the two share many of the same or similar techniques.
- In a 2010 Twitter post, series creator Masahiro Sakurai named Suplex as one of his favorite copy abilities, alongside Fighter.[1]
