This article lists the changes of each update for Kirby Star Allies.
Version 1.1.0[edit]
This update is possibly pre-installed in factory for cartridges and functions the same as Version 1.1.1 for digital releases.

- Selecting Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), or Korean in the Nintendo Switch language settings will now cause text to display properly in those languages.
- Issues have been fixed to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.

- Rick, Kine, Coo, Marx and Gooey were added to the transformations of the Stone ability and were also added to the "WE♥KIRBY" statue at the end of Extra Planet δ.

- Added the Dyna Blade cameo on the map of Dream Land.
- Updated part of the Chinese translation script.
- Enemies which can be made into Friends were tweaked to take longer to vanish after being defeated, thus giving Kirby more time to recruit them if he wants.[3]

- Added three new Dream Friends: Adelaine & Ribbon[sic], Dark Metaknight[sic], and Daroach.
- Added three new celebration pictures to complete by collecting Picture Pieces.
- Fixed several issues to enhance gameplay.

- Added the Dragoon cameo on the map of Planet Popstar.
- Artist Kirby and a Vividria Friend can draw a new painting from the Painter attack: the super-stuffed Kirby from Kirby's Blowout Blast.
- Allies on piggyback won't fall off if touching the top of the screen now.
- When the Bluster Hammer wielder uses Hammer Flip with maximum charge, they jump correctly now instead of not doing so in previous versions.
- Marx's Friend Ability Movie is correctly displayed as "Blizzard/Bluster/Sizzle/Splash/Zap Marx" now instead of "Bomb" in Version 2.0.0.
- When bosses are shifting phases, their defense becomes higher than in previous versions. The "boss health bar disappear glitch" has been fixed.
- Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! changes:
- Now allows multiple separate games for each character saved at once.
- Levels of previously available Friends have been upgraded and shortened by changing and/or removing several rooms.
- Guest Star Kirby glitch has been fixed.
Version 4.0.0[edit]

- Added the new mode, Heroes in Another Dimension, which becomes available after clearing Story Mode.
- Added four new Dream Friends: Magolor, Taranza, Susie, and the Three Mage-Sisters.
- Added a new hardest difficulty level to the mode The Ultimate Choice.
- Added new celebration pictures to be completed by collecting Picture Pieces.
- Issues have been fixed to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.

- The Three Mage-Sisters are not playable until achieving Heroes in Another Dimension's Happy Ending.
- "The Shape of a Heart", "Rockabilly And Blues", and "Break Time Breakdown" celebration pictures can be accessed and filled right after the update.
- "Let Them Know We're Happy", "Bad Boss Brothers", and "A Farewell to Kirby" celebration pictures cannot be accessed or filled in until achieving Heroes in Another Dimension's Happy Ending.
- Added new moves for the following playable characters:
- King Dedede: Super Dedede Jump
- Meta Knight: Galactic Counter
- Bandana Waddle Dee: Ground Thrust
- Added new hidden stone plates of Dream Friends in various stages.
- Echo's Edge: Susie and President Haltmann (art from Kirby: Planet Robobot)
- Sector C: Magolor and the Lor Starcutter (art from Kirby's Return to Dream Land)
- Grott Moon: Taranza and Queen Sectonia (art from Kirby: Triple Deluxe)
- Jambandra Base: The Three Mage-Sisters (Dream Friend art from Kirby Star Allies)
- Added new hidden areas in Planet Caverna.
- Added the Shadow Kirby cameo on the map of Jambastion.
- In The Ultimate Choice, the timer has slightly changed. Now it doesn't run when the boss hasn't entered the battle, e.g. when King Dedede is eating, and when Meta Knight is on the cliff.
- Void Soul's attack order has changed slightly.
- Added new bosses, all appearing in Soul Melter EX of The Ultimate Choice.

- Dream Friends now won't be replaced if they touch any Copy Ability hat or Copy Essence.
- Dark Calibur glitch has been fixed.
- Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!: Levels of previously available Friends have been upgraded and shortened by changing and/or removing several rooms.
- The commands for Adeleine & Ribbon's Painter and Ado Painter attacks are now correctly displayed in the Chinese pause menu, whereas they were incorrectly displayed as ↑ + attack in Version 3.0.0.[4]
