“ | Grab a bomb and hold the button to set the throw angle. Toss it and it'll go Ka-BOOM! | ” | — In-game description |
Bomb is a recurring Copy Ability that is characterized by the ability to use explosives in various ways once obtained. Bomb Kirby may throw, bowl, and drop explosive bombs for the purpose of defeating enemies, including aerial enemies. Bomb Kirby's only change in appearance is typically a blue hat, similar to Sword's hat. In Kirby's Return to Dream Land and onward, however, the hat resembles a fireworks cone. Bomb may be obtained by swallowing bomb-based enemies or touching a Bomb Copy Essence.
Move-sets
The following tables show the move-sets for the Bomb ability in various Kirby games:

In Kirby Super Star and its remake Kirby Super Star Ultra, Bombs reappear with Kirby gaining typical bomb abilities, gained by swallowing a Poppy Bros. Jr. with a Bomb. Kirby may also summon Poppy Bros. Jr. as a helper by sacrificing his ability.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
The Bomb ability makes its 3-D debut in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. Many different enemies provide this ability, including Poppy Bros. Jr., Skud, Rockn, and Blowfish. The Bomb ability can also be combined with itself and with other abilities to make potent explosive Power Combos.
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
In Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, the Bomb ability is one of the many obtainable abilities in the game. Unlike the precedents, however, Kirby gains the Bomb ability by inhaling Foleys or Pranks that throw bombs at Kirby.
Kirby Air Ride
This ability appears in Kirby Air Ride. If Kirby inhales a bomb-inducing enemy, or if he touches a Copy Ability Panel, he receives this ability. By pressing A, he can throw the bomb, creating an explosion that gradually increases diameter. If the A button is pressed longer, the meter fills up more, allowing Kirby to throw farther. An arrow indicates where the bomb is going to land. Kirby can throw only one bomb if he gets this ability.

Kirby: Squeak Squad
In Kirby: Squeak Squad, Kirby can obtain Thunder Bombs or Ice Bombs by mixing either the Spark ability with the Bomb ability or the Ice ability with the Bomb ability after obtaining an Ability Scroll. When used, the Thunder Bomb's explosion causes enemies near it to be electrified. It can also be used to electrocute metal in certain levels. When used, the Ice Bomb's explosion freezes enemies solid and can also be used to harden lava.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land
In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, the Bomb ability reappears with similar functionality as previous games, however, with an aesthetic change. Instead of wearing a blue cap, Kirby wears a fireworks cone. In addition the explosive bomb has a star design on it.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe
Bomb returns as an ability in this installment. However, it takes noticeably longer to deploy bombs in this game than it did in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. This was likely done to balance the ability for Kirby Fighters.
Kirby Fighters Deluxe
Bomb appears as one of the selectable Copy Abilities in this game. Its move-set is largely the same as it was in Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
Kirby: Planet Robobot
Bomb returns as an ability in this game. It is obtainable from Poppy Bros. Jr., as well as certain Waddle Dee Mechs. It is also compatible with the Robobot Armor.
Kirby Battle Royale
“ | That pointed hat gives you the Bomb ability! You should use Bomb Dunk if you want to shock your foe! | ” | — Knuckle Joe's comment in Kirby Battle Royale |
Bomb returns as one of the starter abilities for this multiplayer title. While its move-set has been simplified for the sake of balance, the essential functions of tossing bombs and planting bombs on foes remains intact.
Four alternate pieces of headgear exist for the Bomb ability. These are the "Foley Cap", the "Bomb Cap", the "Boom Cap", and the "Qbby Cap". The Qbby Cap can only be obtained by scanning the Qbby amiibo.
Kirby Star Allies
“ | Anyone can pick up a bomb, and if it rolls over terrain covered with friendly fire or water, the bomb will transform! For a surprise attack, infuse bombs with wind to make them float! | ” | — Pause caption from Kirby Star Allies |
Bomb returns in this title along with Poppy Bros. Jr. who is the Friend for that ability. In addition to the standard repertoire of attacks, Bomb can be infused with elements like Blizzard, Bluster or Zap.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Bomb Kirby appears as a collectible trophy.
Wii U Trophy Description
"When he copies the Bomb ability, Kirby gets to don a stylish hat just like Poppy Bros. Jr. The hat's appearance varies a little from game to game, but the ability itself is always pretty much the same: pull out a bomb, throw it, BOOM! Careful, though--if you hang on to the bomb for too long, you'll go BOOM yourself!
Trivia
- Prior to Kirby's Return to Dream Land, the Bomb ability was capable of lighting fuses and breaking ice blocks. It is no longer capable of doing this in modern titles without the aid of a Power Effect or other assistance.
