Sand is a Copy Ability that debuted in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe as an addition to the base game, making its first appearance along with Mecha. With this ability, Kirby gains a crown made of sand atop a tiara with pyramid-like decals on it, similar to other elemental Copy Ability hats like Fire, Water, and Spark.

Using the Sand ability, Kirby can throw sandblasts at his opponents, create dust devils, make a sandcastle appear to attack opponents, and even grab items from afar, similar to Whip. This ability also has a unique guard similar to Leaf where Kirby hides in sand.

Sand is exclusively provided by Sandran, a new enemy in the remake.

Sand Wave	Tap B/Y	Kirby throws a spray of sand forward at his foes.
Sand Burst	B/Y after Sand Wave	Kirby throws another spray of sand in a more upward direction.
Sand Kick	← + B/Y after Sand Wave	Kirby kicks up a spray of sand behind himself.
Sand Grab	Press and hold B/Y, then release	Kirby throws out an arm made of sand to grab enemies or items from afar.
Sand Toss	Sand Grab + B/Y	Kirby tosses his held opponent diagonally upward, launching them quite far.
Sand Smasher	↓ + tap B/Y	Kirby conjures a sand fist above himself and slams it in an arc in front until it hits the ground. Can pound stakes and break metal blocks.
Golem Smasher	↓ + press and hold B/Y, then release	Kirby attacks with a larger fist made of sand, slamming it into the ground. Kirby can turn around before releasing this attack. Can pound stakes and break metal blocks.
Sand Storm	↑ + tap B/Y	Kirby throws a dust devil above himself.
Sand Hurricane	↑ + hold B/Y	Kirby conjures a whirling dust devil around himself, holding it for a while until releasing it in a big whirlwind.
Sand Dash	Dash + B/Y	Kirby slides forward on a spray of sand.
Sand Ball	↓ + B/Y in midair	Kirby throws a ball of sand straight down, which travels until it hits something.
Sand Hide	L/R	Kirby hides in a pile of sand to avoid damage.
Reveal	Release L/R while using Sand Hide	Kirby emerges from his pile of sand, damaging any nearby foes.
Sand Geyser	B/Y during Sand Hide	Kirby flies upward in a whirlwind of sand, carrying any enemies caught in the motion up with him. Pressing ↑ + B/Y right after Sand Geyser will allow Kirby to use Sand Hurricane immediately.
Sandcastle	↓, then ↑ + B/Y	Kirby creates a large sandcastle in front of himself, knocking away enemies caught in its formation. If formed in the air, the sandcastle will fall and hit any enemies in its path.
