Archer is a Copy Ability introduced in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. The Archer ability gives Kirby a purple cap with a white trim and a yellow feather sticking out of the back, and a pink bow with orange tips and star insignia, stocked with brown-shafted arrows. It can only be obtained from a Spynum. The ability allows Kirby to release arrows at several different angles. Kirby can also charge the arrows up to two times, allowing for three different types of arrows; normal uncharged arrows that travel in a slight arc when angled, partially charged arrows that travel in a straight line and pierce through enemies, and fully charged energy arrows, which release a small radius explosion on contact. He can also shoot arrows straight into the air, charging this will cause the arrow to split into a shower of arrows that rain on surrounding enemies. If the player hits the down button, Kirby will go into camouflage, where he puts up a piece of fake cardboard scenery, like bushes and trees, and hides behind it. He can even fire arrows in this position. Finally, Kirby can melee enemies using his arrows, and jump up in the air and fire several arrows at the ground in front of him.

Have you tried the new Archer ability yet? Doesn’t Kirby look charming wearing a fashionable hat while sniping enemies with arrows? The Archer ability enables three levels of attacks depending on the amount of power you charge up: the Shot, Snipe Shot, and Magic-Star Arrow. You can also use Arrow Slash to attack enemies up close. Kirby using his Hitman attack while hiding behind a bush is quite a sight, too! For the Archer ability, inhale a Spynum before it hits you!

Archer makes its debut in this game, and can be obtained from the enemy Spynum. There are a number of puzzles in this game which specifically require the use of the Archer ability and involves the player tilting the Nintendo 3DS to line a pathway for Kirby's arrows.

Archer is also available as one of the abilities in the sub-game Kirby Fighters.

Kirby Fighters Deluxe

Archer is one of the available Copy Abilities which can be selected in this game. It functions identically to the way it did in Kirby: Triple Deluxe.

Kirby: Planet Robobot

Archer Kirby firing a Magic-Star Arrow in Kirby: Planet Robobot

Archer returns in Kirby: Planet Robobot, and is still supplied by Spynum. Aside from gaining a few new Camouflage forms, it is unchanged from its appearance in prior titles.

Kirby Fighters 2

Archer Kirby (wearing a Rare Hat) using Leaping Quiver on a rival Parasol Kirby in Kirby Fighters 2

Archer returns in Kirby Fighters 2, playing largely the same way it did in its previous appearance. It is unlocked for use by the player upon reaching Fighters Rank 28. This game also features two alternate looks for the ability, those being the Hunter's Hat (unlocked at Rank 64) and the Cyber Hat (unlocked at Rank 92). Choosing the Cyber Hat also replaces the cardboard Camouflage cutouts with holographic equivalents.

For more precise competitive-oriented information on the Archer ability in Kirby Fighters 2, see Mizuumi Wiki's page.

Trivia

  • Archer is somewhat similar to Cupid, which also allows Kirby to fire arrows.
  • The official Kirby Fighters 2 Copy Compendium #4 video refers to Archer by its Japanese name, Sniper. An updated version of the video released on February 3rd, 2021 fixed the error and refers to the ability by its English name.
