- This article is about the Battle Stage. For the music that plays here, see Haldera Volcano (theme).
Haldera Volcano is a Battle Stage in Kirby Fighters Deluxe and Kirby Fighters 2. It is based on Dangerous Dinner - Stage 1 from Kirby's Return to Dream Land, and features columns of lava that can damage fighters at regular intervals.
The stage's name is a portmanteau of "Halcandra" and "caldera", a large cauldron-like hollow that forms after a volcano's magma chamber is emptied in an eruption.
Layout[edit]
Haldera Volcano consists of a tight volcanic causeway with an uneven floor and ceiling and a single thin floor in the middle of the stage. Interspersed are three pools of lava - one being on the ceiling - which regularly spew lava columns that break up the stage into three isolated sections. Touching this lava deals 18 damage to fighters and knocks them away.
The aesthetic of the stage is taken from Dangerous Dinner - Stage 1, from Kirby's Return to Dream Land. Aside from the difference in visual fidelity, the stage looks practically identical in appearance to its source game.
In Kirby Fighters 2, it is possible to toggle on or off the hazards for this stage in regular battles. When hazards are off, no lava columns will spew, but the lava pits themselves will remain and still harm fighters.
Unlock requirements[edit]
In Kirby Fighters 2, Haldera Volcano is unlocked upon attaining Fighters Rank level 7. The secret song for the stage is unlocked at a Fighters Rank of 89.
Origin[edit]
- Main article: Dangerous Dinner - Stage 1
Haldera Volcano takes its setting and music from Dangerous Dinner - Stage 1 in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. This stage is an active volcanic area that Kirby and his buddies must traverse as they make their way to defeat Landia who is "menacing" the land of Halcandra. The stage is known for its tight rocky passageways and regular columns of bubbling lava that rise and fall, much as they do in the battle stage.
