Mamatee[1] is a large aquatic enemy who first appears in Kirby: Triple Deluxe and serves as a bigger analogue to Blipper, but with the fins of a manta ray. It moves slowly and gracefully through the water, often seen performing lazy loops between the foreground and background. It will however often attempt to jump out of the water at Kirby, where it will then flop about helplessly on land, just like a Blipper would. Mamatee has a fairly high amount of health, and as such takes a few hits to take out. Essentially, it serves the same role in the water as Grandy does on land.

Trivia

  • In Kirby: Triple Deluxe, the internal filename for Mamatee is called "Briterri", suggesting a closer relation to Blipper. As of Kirby: Planet Robobot, the file is renamed "Mamatee", which matches the English name given on Miiverse.
  • On the official Kirby JP Twitter feed, an illustration was posted for Mother's Day which features Mamatee in the lower-left corner. This image may be taken to suggest that Mamatees are female, and mothers of Blippers, though it does not conclusively account for all Mamatees.
    • Additionally, going from the suggestion in this image, it could be speculated that the name "Mamatee" is derived from the words 'mama' and 'manatee'.
