Flare Beam is a Super Ability that is currently exclusively available in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, though it is set to reappear in the remake, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. It is an extremely powerful variation of the Beam Copy Ability, and is obtained by swallowing a Super Waddle Doo.

Kirby's appearance changes to an exaggerated version of his Beam transformation; Kirby dons a very large jester hat with stars at the ends and a star emblem in the front of the hat.

Moveset

With the Flare Beam, Kirby possesses the ability to control a large beam ball of electricity to destroy blocks and enemies with the +Control Pad, as well as activate special star blocks that help open up a path once all of those blocks are activated.

However, guiding the electric ball is not as easy as it sounds due to its large momentum. Pressing 2 at any time during Flare Beam cancels the current attack, which is important in order to save the limited use time of the Super Ability.

Trivia

  • Magolor can also obtain the power of Flare Beam from the Master Crown, using it as one of his Super Ability attacks during the battle with his second boss form. Unlike Kirby, Magolor will surround himself with dark electricity and orbiting Magic Spheres, making himself a giant Flare Beam to tackle Kirby. In addition, Magolor Soul in Extra Mode and the Wii version's True Arena summons another electric ball of the same size so there will be two Flare Beams bouncing off the stage and trying to ram Kirby in unison. The True Arena in Deluxe ups that number to three.
  • Flare Beam is the only Super Ability that cannot be obtained in Dangerous Dinner in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe.
