Stomper Boot
| ||||||||||||
|
The Stomper Boot is an item that first appeared in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, and has since appeared in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. Jumping into it allows safe traversing of hazardous ground, as well as the ability to stomp and bounce off of enemies.
Appearance[edit]
The Stomper Boot is sky blue, with a white trim, darker blue heel and toe, and a metal tread with spikes on the bottom. Additionally, it carries a wing insignia with a yellow star inset, one on each side of the boot. As the boot is worn for longer, it becomes unstable, and the star changes color to reflect this, becoming red when the boot is about to break.
Use[edit]
Unlike other items in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, the Stomper Boot is worn and ridden in, rather than carried. While riding in the boot, the rider can only make one jump off the ground, and cannot perform any other attacks or techniques. Repeated small hops done automatically are used to move left or right, while large hops are performed by jumping. While riding the boot, running into enemies will deal them damage, but the main way to dispatch them is to stomp them with a jump. Immediately after a stomp, the rider can perform a jump off the stomped enemy if the jump is timed correctly, which allows the rider to cross large gaps of water or open air if done repeatedly. Invulnerable enemies, such as Gordos, as well as certain stage hazards, can also be bounced off of in a similar fashion.
The Stomper Boot can be used to traverse hazardous ground, such as spike pits and lava beds. It can also pound stakes in a similar fashion to the Stone and Hammer abilities, as well as break metal blocks. Additionally, it, the Fuse Cannon, and the Balloon Bomb are the only items that can be used to break the huge yellow crystalline blocks that guard certain items and passageways. However, the boot cannot be used at all in the water, and will quickly fall into bottomless pits. To disembark early, the player has to press 1 on the Wii Remote. Finally, to avoid attacks from above, the rider can hide in the boot by crouching. It should be noted, however, that while hiding in the boot, it will not bounce on anything.

Trivia[edit]
- This item appears to be based on the Goomba's Shoe from the Super Mario series, as it functions in much the same way.
