Winged Star is a rideable machine in Kirby Air Ride. As its name implies, it is known for being one of the fundamentally best gliders available. This machine is one of the most emblematic of its game, next to the Warp Star. It is easy to unlock early-on, and is featured to a comparatively great extent in various official artwork, trailers, and other media.
Appearance[edit]
This vehicle is on the smaller side. Its design resembles a pale-blue bird, with Kirby's seat, and the rear end, with darker-blue accents. It has a narrow front end tip, and wings spread out to each side. Its rear is composed of three outspread jets, which expel a white jet-like propulsion while the machine is moving. While it charges in flight, it glows white, and glows brighter the longer it flies, prior to landing.

Mechanics[edit]
Far, and away, the Winged Star's greatest attribute is its great ability to glide across vast distances, and do so at high speed. This is emphasized even more, by the fact that the machine is very lightweight. Its light composition, on occasion, allows it to bounce up from one glide, and landing into a second, or even a third landing, giving its rider several consecutive glide-landing boosts. This star turns and charges fairly well, but most of its other attributes are poor. It has low offense, low defense, low HP, and a somewhat lackluster land top speed of 14.47 mph (23.29 km/h). Considering these factors, it must always rely heavily on its ability to fly - whether it be to win a race, or stay out of harm's way. It performs fairly well in most Air Ride courses if used to its strengths. In City Trial's Stadiums, it is almost a sure victor for Air Glider - as its distance can only be outdone by the legendary Dragoon - and does very well in High Jump to boot. Contrary to what one might expect, however, it often does poorly in Target Flight as it often accelerates too quickly to properly aim for a high-scoring target - particularly if the player has picked up many patches within the city.
How to unlock[edit]
To unlock this machine for use in Air Ride mode, the player must enter any standard race, using any machine, and finish first while in the middle of a glide, or otherwise airborne.
In City Trial, the Winged Star can occasionally be found randomly throughout the city and be mounted like most other air ride machines. It is always available in Free Run as well.
Kirby: Canvas Curse[edit]
This machine makes a cameo in the Paint Panic Sub-Game of Kirby: Canvas Curse, as one of the various pictures that Paint Roller creates, which the player must mimic.
In Kirby: Right Back at Ya![edit]

The Winged Star appears in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, specifically the episodes Air-Ride-in-Style - Part I and Part II, and Fright to the Finish. It is the most common Air Ride Machine used by the Air Riders, and Kirby learns to fly the Winged Star while battling these foes. He later ends up using one to pursue eNeMeE into his inner sanctum, and uses it again to ferry himself and Tiff away after eNeMeE is defeated.
