Gold Waddle Dee is a variation of the common enemy Waddle Dee, first appearing in Kirby: Squeak Squad and later making minor appearances in Kirby Mass Attack and Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition. As directly stated in its name, Gold Waddle Dee is gold-colored, but otherwise looks identical to a regular Waddle Dee. In games it appears in, it usually serves as a rare and often times elusive enemy that yields a special reward upon its defeat.
Game appearances
Kirby: Squeak Squad
The enemy type makes its first appearance in Kirby: Squeak Squad, where it is encountered sporadically and plays a crucial role in achieving 100% completion in the game. Unlike most enemies, it flees once Kirby comes near it and must be caught in order to defeat it, whereupon Kirby will be awarded with a Treasure Chest. It is usually found in complicated areas of the level, arranged in a manner that makes it difficult for Kirby to keep up with and/or defeat it. If he is not quick or ingenious enough, Gold Waddle Dee will fall into a hole, and the level must be restarted to gain the chest.
If Kirby dispatches a Gold Waddle Dee by freezing it, then kicking it aside, its Treasure Chest will automatically appear in the Copy Palette. This is also the case if Ghost Kirby possesses Gold Waddle Dee, then releases it. If Kirby attacks with the Bubble ability, the Gold Waddle Dee turns into a bubble.

Kirby Mass Attack
In Kirby Mass Attack, there is only one Gold Waddle Dee. It appears in a section of the sixth stage of Dedede Resort and acts similarly as in Kirby: Squeak Squad, running from the Kirbys once they approach it. Tackling and defeating it causes the "Gold Thrasher" task to be added to the Checklist once the stage is completed and rewards the player with 5,000 points.
Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition
In Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, Gold Waddle Dees can occasionally appear in the New Challenge Stages Sub-Game in the Combat Chamber stages. Here, they will appear briefly along with other enemies, then try to leave the area. Kirby has to defeat them quickly in order to earn a very hearty 1000 points.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe
