Magolor Race 2 is the final stage of Apricot Atrium in New Challenge Stages, unlocked after completing the Whip Challenge, Fighter Combat Chamber, and Wing Challenge. It pits Kirby against Magolor in a race to the finish, allowing Kirby to use either the Fighter, Whip, or Wing Copy Abilities. The window of time to earn a Platinum Medal is 0:54 or lower.

Completing this stage is necessary to access the next level, Last Land.

Layout[edit]

The stage consists of one long unbroken chamber. Unlike the first race, this hall bends back, then forward again. The race begins with some conveyor belts and coins interspersed above them. Magolor summons in flying enemies to try and get in Kirby's way as the path bends upward, then in reverse, now leading left. After traversing a set of conveyor belts - the upper moving right and the lower moving left - the path bends upward again as Magolor conjures in some Volttzos beneath Kirby's feet. As the path bends back toward the right, Magolor summons Coldtzos on the decks above to shoot ice balls at Kirby. The path then opens up to a big space with a conveyor belt leading diagonally downward. Kirby will have to dodge Gordos and other enemies that Magolor summons as he jumps from belt to belt. After these belts, Magolor will conjure more Volttzos to fire on Kirby as he runs across another thin floor. The finish line can then be reached after hopping over a series of spike pits and grabbing the last coins.

Tips[edit]

There are a few things to keep in mind when aiming for Platinum on this stage, though it should be noted that the strategies listed here are by no means the only ones that will do the job:

  • Generally speaking, an ideal race will largely ignore Magolor, as he is little more than a hazard. However, he does force Kirby to keep a good pace, since Magolor speeds up when he falls behind and can potentially steal a race if Kirby trips up at the end, even if previous sections were done flawlessly.
  • Magolor can steal coins that he flies over. As such, Kirby will need to make sure he leaves none behind.
  • The ability that is chosen for Kirby will greatly affect the tactics needed to confront each obstacle on this track. All of them are capable of earning a Platinum, though which one should be used is up to the player's preference.

Guide[edit]

  • "Magolor will summon foes one after another. Level 2 is tricky!"
  • "No matter what he throws at you, keep speeding toward victory."
  • "Be sure to pick a Copy Ability that will give you the edge you need!"

Pro Tips[edit]

  • "Build strategies based on the strengths of each Copy Ability."
  • "For example, Whip lets you grab coins from below a conveyor belt."
  • "Wing can speed you through obstacles with Condor Head."
  • "And Fighter gives you Double Kick, which works great against groups."

Music[edit]

Besides "New Challenge Stages", there is a random chance that "Crash! Mid-Boss Tower" from Kirby's Return to Dream Land may play instead. The screen before the race itself plays "Road to Victory" from the same game.
