The People of the Sky are the flower-like beings native to the Kingdom of Floralia. They debuted in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, and one appears as a sticker in Kirby: Planet Robobot.
Physical appearance
The People of the Sky resemble fairies. They are distinguished by their leaf skirts and flower-like headdresses, which are styled after different types of flowers on each individual. All of them are capable of hovering about, much like Taranza, and can use magic power to unlock certain gates, or carry large objects. Also like Taranza, they possess disembodied hands, and no feet.
Game appearances
Kirby: Triple Deluxe
Prior to the events of Kirby: Triple Deluxe, the People of the Sky lived happily, but their kingdom is taken over by Queen Sectonia, who subsequently imprisons them in small honeycomb cages as she does so. As this is happening, the People of the Sky devise the Dreamstalk seed, and send it tumbling down to Dream Land as a last resort to save themselves. This calls up both Kirby and King Dedede, the former of who eventually saves them.
During Royal Road - Stage 5, Kirby (or King Dedede, in Dededetour!) rescues a multitude of People of the Sky; specifically, one that opens a small gate, five that open a bigger gate, and a handful of "generic" ones who provide 3D Warp Stars. The appearances of the People of the Sky are as follows:
- A pink one, whose headdress resembles a petunia, and is always the first one saved.
- A purple one, whose headdress covers their eyes and resembles a tulip.
- A blue one, whose headdress resembles a hibiscus.
- A yellow one, whose headdress resembles a sunflower.
- A red one, whose headdress covers one of their eyes and resembles an amaryllis.
- A white one, whose headdress resembles a lily, and is always the last one saved.
- The generic ones have yellow-pink headdresses that resemble simple buds.
The People of the Sky then aid Kirby and Dedede during the battle with Flowered Sectonia by bringing them a Cannon to use against her. After she is defeated, the People of the Sky catch Kirby when he is flung off of the Dreamstalk and carry him back to safety (while Taranza carries Dedede). They also carry his house and Castle Dedede back to their proper places in Dream Land.
Kirby: Planet Robobot
In Kirby: Planet Robobot, a portrait of one of the People of the Sky appears as a sticker.
Trivia
- Coincidentally, their design is similar to that of a Spindrift from Super Mario 64.
- In ancient times, the People of the Sky revered Coily Rattler as a deity and a symbol of peace.[1]
