Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! is an [[Extra | Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! is an Extra Mode in Kirby Star Allies, unlocked once the Story Mode is completed. The main premise involves a team of Friends and/or Dream Friends running through a condensed version of the main story mode in one long time attack run without Kirby's help and defeating a different boss at the end of the game. Along the way, a number of distinct challenges are faced depending on which guest star was chosen to be the main character, and Power-Up Hearts are available which can bolster the allies' abilities. Completing this game mode at least once is required to unlock the Fiery Showdown and Infernal Crisis difficulties of The Ultimate Choice, and contributes toward 100% completion of Kirby Star Allies. | ||
This game mode is similar in premise to previous time attack modes such as Meta Knightmare and Dededetour!, and includes checkpoints and a final time leaderboard for each character. Unlike those modes, however, none of the bosses fought are enhanced versions of their Story Mode counterparts (save for the run for The Three Mage-Sisters). | |||

However, instead of collecting the pieces of the Jamba Heart, Hyness and The Three Mage-Sisters are attempting to open an inter-dimensional portal. Once they are defeated, after a fake-out credits sequence, Galacta Knight appears from out of the portal and gets ready to fight the allies again as he normally does. However, just before the fight can begin, a strange butterfly lands on Galacta Knight's lance and causes him to disintegrate. In his place, the butterfly transforms into the Reborn Butterfly, Morpho Knight, who fights the allies in Galacta Knight's stead. Defeating him causes this new knight to gracefully vaporize, completing the game. | ||

| |||
The player needs to choose a particular Friend to play as before the game begins, and will stick with that friend for the remainder of the game. As such, this friend is given the ability to toss Friend Hearts to recruit other allies to help clear away obstacles and perform Friend Abilities. Instead of entering each stage individually, all the stages are played in one long run, with checkpoints in the interim. They are split into five 'levels' which are timed separately. Along the way, entering side areas and accessing hard-to-reach spots can yield Power-Up Hearts, which raise the stats of the allies when collected. These stats can be raised to a maximum of 5 but will reset when a new level is accessed. If a Power-Up Heart is collected when its corresponding stat is already at level 5, then the character who collected will pose but the level will not change. However, collecting a sixth Health heart will still refill the health meter of all characters entirely, as if they had eaten a Maxim Tomato. | |||
In addition, there are a number of areas in the stages which have been reconfigured into 'ambush zones', where enemies appear in sequence which the allies must defeat. There are a number of unique areas to run through, which do not appear at all in the main story mode. There are a number of unique areas to run through, which do not appear at all in the main story mode, with the DLC Dream Friends going through sections of levels that either make use of their moveset or are recreations of earlier Kirby stages. The layout of the run also changes based on which ally is being used, with certain areas only appearing for certain allies. For example, sections that utilize Friend Throw will only appear for characters that can use that move or something similar to make progress (e.g. Gooey, Beetley, Bugzzy, Knuckle Joe, and Magolor). | ||
Lastly, while there are many | Lastly, while there are many Point Hearts and Picture Pieces to find, there is very little in the way of Food or other healing items, and the allies start with 80% of their default maximum health. Therefore, the allies will need to rely on either their own abilities, checkpoints, or the Health Power-Up Hearts to recover lost health. There are also no 1-Ups to be found, but extra lives can still be increased by collecting Point Hearts. | ||
A separate high score is kept for each individual ally, though only one run needs to be finished to 'complete' the game. “ | You can do it...even without Kirby! Go for a time attack score in an adventure with only friends! | ” | — Tutorial caption in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! |
Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! is an Extra Mode in Kirby Star Allies, unlocked once the Story Mode is completed.
Story[edit]
The story is largely the same as the main Story Mode.
Gameplay[edit]
Lastly, while there are many Point Hearts and Picture Pieces to find, there is very little in the way of Food or other healing items, and the allies start with 80% of their default maximum health.
Once this one run is completed, Dream Friends are made available to play as. Allies with completed runs will have their respective icon marked with a crown, indicating completion of a character's run.
Interestingly enough, the Friend Star is never utilized in this game mode. In its place, several more Friend Train sections are added.
List of Allies[edit]
The following lists all playable allies and their subtitles in the title screen. The title of this game mode is meant to be a placeholder for whichever ally is picked. The title officially changes based on which ally is played.
For DLC Dream Friends, the art on the title screen changes to match the Japanese box art of their respective debut games. The base game Dream Friends did not have unique title screen art until version 2.0.0, showcasing their signature colors and previous appearances.

From Prayers to Hope | 祈りから希望の旅へ Journey From Prayers to Hope |
Several key differences exist between this version of the game and the others. They are as follows:
|
Bosses[edit]
All Story Mode bosses are fought in this mode, with the exception of Grand Mam and Void Termina. In place of the latter, the allies fight Morpho Knight as the last boss instead.
The more players in play (including CPU), the less damage they will deal to mid-bosses and bosses. Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! shares the same set of multiplier modifiers with Story Mode and Heroes in Another Dimension. (The Ultimate Choice has a different set.)
Number of Players | Attack Modifier in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go![1] |
---|---|
1 | ×1.0 |
2 | ×0.75 (3/4) |
3 | ×0.6 (3/5) |
4 | ×0.5 (1/2) |
Same as in Story Mode and Heroes in Another Dimension, every time player 1 loses against a mid-boss or boss, the boss's maximum health decreases and their actions become slower to lower the difficulty. After continuing the game from the Game Over screen, their nerfs will still be kept.
Times of Loss | Boss Maximum Health |
---|---|
1 | 90% |
2 | 75% |
3 | 65% |
4 | 55% |
5+ | 45% |
Title theme[edit]
There are two versions of the title theme for Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!. Both are arranged by Hirokazu Ando and are remixes of "The Adventure Begins" (Cookie Country - Stage 1 theme) from Kirby's Return to Dream Land.
- The default version is the amiibo Special ver., which originated from Kirby's Blowout Blast and played when the Kirby amiibo was used. It can be found as Track 157 in the Jukebox.
- If the game mode is completed with every ally and Dream Friend, a special message will appear and the title theme will be replaced by the Original Short ver., first seen in Kirby: Triple Deluxe in Royal Road - Stage 7 EX. It can be found as Track 185 in the Jukebox.
DLC Dream Friend[edit]
Exclusive Stages[edit]
When playing as any of the Dream Friends (except King Dedede, Meta Knight and Bandana Waddle Dee), several levels feature entirely new rooms not seen in the Story Mode or in the runs with other characters.
Additionally, several areas resemble stages from the games in which these Dream Friends originate.

The following areas originate from Kirby's Dream Land 2.
- Level 1: Grass Land - Stage 1
- Level 3: Red Canyon - Stage 1
- Level 5 (After 2nd checkpoint): Dark Castle - Stage 1, Stage 7
Marx[edit]
The following areas originate from Kirby Super Star.
- Level 1: Spring Breeze - Green Greens
- Level 3: Dyna Blade - Peanut Plains (Chef Kawasaki mid-boss battle)
- Level 5 (After 2nd checkpoint): Milky Way Wishes - Halfmoon
Gooey[edit]
The following areas originate from Kirby's Dream Land 3.
- Level 1: Grass Land - Stage 1

- Level 3 (After checkpoint): Rock Star - Stage 2 Room 2 (where the first Crystal Shard of this stage is originally located)
- Level 5 (After 2nd checkpoint): Factory Tour (full factory stage except Room 4; Burnis ambush replaced by Birdon)
Dark Meta Knight[edit]
The following areas originate from Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.
Level 1
- Rainbow Route: Room 1, Room 2, Room 4 (up route) / Room 6 (down route), Warp to Moonlight Mansion
- Moonlight Mansion: Entry, Room 8, Room 7, Room 9 → Whispy Woods boss battle (King Golem reference) → Checkpoint
- (After checkpoint) Rainbow Route: Hub 1, Room 7, Room 6, Room 42 → Clash at Castle Dedede ambush → King Dedede boss battle
To activate the windmill in Room 42 and proceed to the next area, Dark Meta Knight must befriend either Broom Hatter or Birdon in Room 7.
Level 3
Level 5
(After 2nd checkpoint)
Rainbow Route - Central Circle leads to three routes, all of which must be entered to proceed to the final boss battles in The Divine Terminus.
- Route 1: Candy Constellation - Room 10, Room 11, Goal 1
- Route 2: Candy Constellation - Room 10, Room 12, Room 13, Chest 3, Goal 2
- Route 3: Candy Constellation - Room 10, Room 12, Room 13, Room 18, Room 20, Boss Room (Twin Vividria is fought here, referencing the Master Hand & Crazy Hand battle in the original game).
Daroach[edit]
The following areas originate from Kirby: Squeak Squad.
- Level 1: Prism Plains - Stage 1
- Level 3 (After checkpoint): Vocal Volcano - Stage 1
- Level 5 (After 2nd checkpoint): Gamble Galaxy - Stage 1, 2, 3, and 4
Magolor[edit]
The following areas originate from Kirby's Return to Dream Land. Magolor's run has unique sections that emulate the Another Dimension platforming segments from his debut game, complete with the original music and a grayscale filter.
- Level 1: Cookie Country - Stage 1
- Level 3: Nutty Noon - Stage 2 and Raisin Ruins - Stage 4
- Level 5 (After 2nd checkpoint): Dangerous Dinner - Stage 3 and 2, Egg Engines - Stage 5
Taranza[edit]
The following areas originate from Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
- Level 1: Fine Fields - Stage 1, 3, 4
- Level 3: Endless Explosions - Stage 1
- Level 5 (After 2nd checkpoint): Royal Road - Stage 1 and 5
Susie[edit]
The following areas originate from Kirby: Planet Robobot.
- Level 1: Patched Plains - Stage 1 and 2
- Level 3 (After checkpoint): Resolution Road - Stage 3 and Access Ark - Stage 3
- Level 5 (After 2nd checkpoint): Access Ark - Stage 5
The Three Mage-Sisters[edit]
The following areas are reused from other Dream Friends' Guest Star ???? runs.
- Level 1: Guest Star Rick & Kine & Coo - Level 1, Room 2, Guest Star Daroach - Level 1, Room 3, and Cookie Country - Stage 1, Room 2
- Level 3: Guest Star Marx - Level 3, Room 2, Endless Explosions - Stage 1, Room 1, Rock Star - Stage 2, Room 2, Carrot Castle - Room 7
- Level 5: Dark Castle - Stage 7, Iceberg - Stage 5, Room 15 and Milky Way Wishes - Halfmoon
(After checkpoint): Factory Tour, Room 5, Candy Constellation - Room 13 and Gamble Galaxy - Stage 2
(After 2nd checkpoint): Access Ark - Stage 5, Dangerous Dinner - Stage 3 and Royal Road - Stage 5
Pseudo HAL Room[edit]
Near the end of the run for these Dream Friends, a special pseudo HAL Room can be accessed by utilizing the specific moveset of the friends. The block letters spell out the English name of the friend being played, with a set of Attack, Health, and Speed Power-Up Hearts inside.
- Rick & Kine & Coo: Rick should solve the puzzle similar to that of Dark Castle - Stage 7 from Kirby's Dream Land 2 — using Fire Rick; then Sir Kibble with Blizzard, Splash, or Bluster effects; and finally Jammerjab with Bluster.
- Marx: After the area based on Halfmoon, Marx should go through a narrow lava path by riding a Blizzard or Splash Jester Ball or riding piggyback on Chilly or Driblee.
- Gooey: During the auto-scrolling section based on Iceberg - Stage 6, Gooey should go right and use Friend Throw to destroy the blocks, opening the path forward. If Magolor tags along by the time Gooey gets to this section, Magoloran Launch can also be used to destroy the blocks.
- Adeleine & Ribbon: Adeleine should open every correct key door, the hints of which can be displayed by the color of the Point Hearts painted from the canvases in the stage.
- Dark Meta Knight: Dark Meta Knight should cut the flame chain with Blizzard, Bluster, or Splash Sword in the room based on Candy Constellation - Room 18, then enter the round-trip door before the platform falls into the pit.
- Daroach: Daroach should get the red key from Key Dee to enter the round-trip door.
- Magolor: Magolor should enter Another Dimension in the area based on Dangerous Dinner - Stage 3 and defeat Twin Vividria.
- Taranza: Taranza should use Queen's Phantom in a side-area in the section based on Royal Road - Stage 5 to power a series of four electrical switches at once.
- Susie: Near the end of the section based on Access Ark - Stage 5, Susie should form a walkable path by destroying some Bomb Blocks to bring a key to open a passage that leads to the pseudo HAL room.
- The Three Mage-Sisters: The Mage-Sister should collect a Point Heart before the exit door leading to Morpho Knight EX in The Divine Terminus, then follow the trail of Point Hearts that appears to enter a new door leading to the pseudo HAL room. All three of the Mage-Sisters' names are spelled out, with some of the blocks in their names in different colors, spelling out the word "friends." As a result, Flamberge is misspelled "Framberge".
In addition, each Dream Friend plays a specific, personalized music track in the pseudo HAL Room. These can be seen in the table below. Titles are taken from Kirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack.

Final Boss[edit]
The look of The Divine Terminus at the end of the mode changes depending on which characters are being played. For all allies that came with the base version of the game, the area looks almost identical to its appearance in Story Mode, except for the Jambastion reflection in the center of the floor and the flowers being color-swapped.
- In Version 2.0.0, when playing as any of the Wave 1 Dream Friends (Rick & Kine & Coo, Marx, and Gooey), the area's starry sky changes to a sunny and cloudy sky, the background exterior flips upside-down and starts to slowly deteriorate, and the pool in the center of the floor reflects Hyper Zone from Kirby's Dream Land 3 where Dark Matter and Zero are fought.
- In Version 3.0.0, when playing as any of the Wave 1 or Wave 2 Dream Friends (Adeleine & Ribbon, Dark Meta Knight, and Daroach), this change becomes even more pronounced, with the pool on the floor also taking on a red hue with effects similar to the ones used in the 0² fight from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.
- In Version 4.0.0, when playing as any of the Wave 1, Wave 2 or Wave 3 Dream Friends (Magolor, Taranza, Susie, and The Three Mage-Sisters), the background exterior completely collapses, and lots of platform and crystalline debris can be seen rising up. The pool in the floor's center also reflects Another Dimension. When defeating Hyness, instead of falling off the Divine Terminus, he lands on the arena and sinks into the pool, hinting at the events in Heroes in Another Dimension.
In addition, Morpho Knight's theme is replaced by different battle music depending on which Dream Friend Player 1 chose at the start of the run.

Ending: Friends' Curtain Call[edit]
After defeating Morpho Knight, the game mode is completed and the Guest Star credits, "Friends' Curtain Call", plays. During the credits, the current remaining allies after the Morpho Knight battle can play a minigame if the player moves whoever character they are playing as. Meanwhile, allies who have previously completed the game mode are in the audience watching the current allies.
In the minigame, the allies try to defeat as many enemies as possible for the high score before the image slideshow in the background ends. Every time an ally is damaged, that player loses 500 points. In the middle of the credits, in King Dedede's stead, Meta Knight will enter and challenge the allies just like his boss battle at Sacred Square. Defeating Meta Knight gives 5000 points. However, if the allies can't defeat him before the credits end, he will leave the battle without providing any points.
At the end of the credits, several waves of Point Hearts drop, with the final wave having the Point Hearts in the shape of Kirby. Notably, a picture of a never-seen-before glowing orb is shown in the credits, hinting at Void Soul. Finally, the current allies pose while the same allies also join the audience, who all wave directly at the player.
If player 1 is a Dream Friend, the final picture of the credits shows their first appearance scenario in the Kirby series, and "THE END" shows a special picture of the Dream Friend update group they belong to.
Guest Star Kirby glitch[edit]
- Main article: Glitches in Kirby Star Allies
In Version 2.0.0 of the game and earlier, it was possible to play this mode as Kirby. If while in handheld mode, the player tapped a specific area on the screen in the main menu between 'New Game' and 'Best Time', they would be taken to a scoreboard for 'Guest Star Kirby' and asked if they wanted to start. Doing so would begin a run of this mode as Kirby. There were a few elements to this that would suggest this is a glitch rather than an easter egg. These were as follows:
- Kirby's pause description text, regardless of what ability he is using, reads as (未せってい) in all languages, which translates from Japanese as "Not set". This is because Guest Star calls for a unique set of pause screen descriptions, which Kirby doesn't have.
- Kirby does not vocalize as he normally does when activating Friend Platforms or when using the Dream Rod.
- Reset Platforms do not take away Kirby's ability, and Kirby does not lose his ability when calling upon a Friend from it.
- Kirby cannot interact directly with Copy Essences or discarded ability hats by touching them. He can still use them by tossing Friend Hearts at them or Inhaling the latter.
- Tutorial signs do not display any characters, nor do they get marked when the shown action is performed.
- Kirby's 1-Up portrait changes depending on which ability he is using, along with the title displayed in the pause menu. (e.g. "Guest Star Sleep")
- The title that shows in the credits will display the name of the Friend who corresponds to Kirby's currently-equipped ability. Despite this, any scores will still be saved to Kirby's score table.
- If Kirby has no ability which corresponds to an ally, the title will default to one of his allies, or to a completely different ally if he has none.
Starting in Version 3.0.0, the main menu's design is changed to accommodate the addition of multiple save files at once. As the "Continue" button in this version is now permanent after starting the mode once, this glitch no longer works.
Trivia[edit]
- In Level 5, at the end of the castle section, there is an ambush where the team will have to fight multiples of whichever character the player is playing as, i.e. if Blade Knight is the team leader, the ambush will be several Blade Knights.
- If the player is playing as an available Mid-Boss, they will fight a duo of said mid-boss instead.
- This does not apply to Dream Friends, though a unique encounter will still appear for each one.
- In Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! (from Version 4.0.0) and Heroes in Another Dimension, Dream Friends have their signature symbols on the loading screens.
