- This article is about the umbrella foe from Kirby's Dream Land 2, and should not be confused with Floaty the Cell Core.
File:KDL2FloatytheDrifter.png Floaty the Drifter is an enemy in Kirby's Dream Land 2. It is the first Copy Ability-providing enemy that can be found in the game, first appearing in the side-room of the first stage of Grass Land. It provides the Parasol ability when swallowed.
Like its cousin, the Parasol, it can be seen in the hands of Waddle Dees and similar enemies, but it can also move about on its own by hopping about. It is distinguished from the Parasol by its singular eye and green colTemplate:Oration.
Floaty is worth 400 points when dispatched, either by inhaling or when hit by another attack.

“ | These are called Drifter monsters! | ” | — King Dedede, in Escargoon Rules |
In Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Floaty the Drifter (here just called Drifter) makes an appearance as a monster in the episode Escargoon Rules. King Dedede brings out a bunch of them in order to make a fool of Escargoon as he pretends to be King of Dream Land for his mother. Kirby defends the two snails by inhaling some of them to gain the Parasol ability, then using his parasol to bat away the rest of them.
Drifters are very similar to their appearance in the games, and unlike most other monsters, are easily dispatched. They don't appear to be particularly threatening, as their only powers are flying around and wrapping themselves over their targets. They catch fire easily, as evidenced when King Dedede loses his last one to a set of firework explosions.
A Drifter wraps itself around Escargoon's mother.
