In Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, King D-Mind is fought as part of "Tougher: The Final Battle" and again in his then-unnamed Revenge form in "Toughest: The True Final Battle" in the Decisive Battlefield. He is first encountered after Dark Taranza summons him from the Black Mirror, who the king quickly dispatches. In Super Kirby Clash, he is fought in three Quests: one serves as the game's ninth Ordeal and his Revenge form serves as the penultimate Ordeal and Party Quest in the game.

King D-Mind fights with aspects of Shadow Dedede and Dark Mind, using his hammer (and later, an axe) to deal damage, as well as being able to fire numerous different types of projectiles from his weapons and from his belly, which can open up to reveal a burning eyeball similar to Dark Mind's true form in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. King D-Mind's Revenge is substantially more powerful, with some of his attacks being capable of taking out even a high-level Kirby hero in one hit if he is not wearing the best equipment.

Excerpt of King D-Mind's battle theme from Team Kirby Clash Deluxe

 This box: view  talk  edit
The king of darkness returns for the very last battle. The world needs Team Kirby!
— Toughest flavor text from Team Kirby Clash Deluxe

King D-Mind is an enemy that is encountered after the main game of Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, and later appears in Super Kirby Clash.

In the former, he is encountered twice at the very end of the Decisive Battlefield's line of bosses, thus considered the final boss of Team Kirby Clash Deluxe. He is fought as part of "Tougher: The Final Battle" after Dark Taranza summons him from the Black Mirror and again in his then-unnamed Revenge form in "Toughest: The True Final Battle". In the latter, he is fought in three Quests: his Story Quest battle serves as the game's ninth Ordeal and his Revenge form serves as the penultimate Ordeal and Party Quest in the game.

Both times he is initially summoned, he immediately turns on the summoner with his hammer before fighting Team Kirby. In Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Dark Taranza shatters after getting hit, while in Super Kirby Clash, Parallel Nightmare simply gets sent flying into the background from the attack.

According to Magolor, the king of darkness could have borrowed and reflected the appearance of King Dedede, the unseen king of the Dream Kingdom. Why he takes that appearance is unknown.[1]

Battle[edit]

Time to face off against the King of Darkness yet again! Don't let the beams from his giant eyeballs mow you down!
— Toughest flavor text from Super Kirby Clash

King D-Mind fights with aspects of Shadow Dedede and Dark Mind, using his hammer (and later, an axe) to deal damage, as well as being able to fire numerous different types of projectiles from his weapons and from his belly, which can open up to reveal a burning eyeball similar to Dark Mind's true form in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. King D-Mind's Revenge is substantially more powerful, with some of his attacks being capable of taking out even a high-level Kirby hero in one hit if he is not wearing the best equipment.

Defeating him in the True Final Battle in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe opens up an opportunity for Team Kirby to seal him back in the mirror from whence he came, and then shatter it, finally breaking the mirror's influence on Taranza and saving the Dream Kingdom.

Attacks[edit]

The ultimate King of Darkness has awakened! Our only light of hope in this desperate hour is Team Kirby!
— Super+ flavor text from Super Kirby Clash

The following are all of King D-Mind's (and King D-Mind's Revenge's) attacks in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash. Note that attack names are either derived from other sources or are conjectural:

King D-Mind's attacks in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe & Super Kirby Clash
Attack Description Variants
ヘッドスライディング
Head Slide
King D-Mind runs and then dives at a target Kirby.
スーパーデデデジャンプ

ハンマー叩き付け/アクス斬り付け
Hammer Slam/Axe Slash
King D-Mind raises his hammer and slams the ground with it twice in a row. If a target Kirby is airborne, then D-Mind will jump up and swing the hammer in midair. When he lands, a shockwave emanates from it. In the second phase, he does this attack with his axe instead, with each swing on ground level causing shockwaves.
King D-Mind Missile King D-Mind preps his hammer, which opens up and shoots out star projectiles similar to those of Parallel Nightmare.
ベリィブラックマター
Belly Black Matter
King D-Mind flies into the background and his belly opens up into a big maw. Out of this maw, a series of six dark orb blasts are fired. King D-Mind then flies on-stage and fires three larger blasts which can bounce around.

King D-Mind preps his hammer, which opens up and shoots out a large gout of flame.
斧の舞
Axe Dance
King D-Mind wildly swings his poleaxe about, aiming for Kirbys as he does so, and turning with his strikes as needed. He finishes with a long lunge attack.
Dark Maw Rush King D-Mind's belly distends and then opens revealing a huge eyeball inside. From there, he begins rapidly flying around the arena as the maw chomps. This attack is repeated several times as the maw grows larger and larger.
キングD・ビーム
King D-Beam[1]
After finishing Dark Maw Rush, King D-Mind positions himself near the top of the screen with the eye aimed downward. The eye then proceeds to fire a massive laser toward the ground. It fires this laser several times, sweeping the ground as the laser pulses. His regular form locks on to two Kirbies and fires the laser after stopping for a brief second. The final ground sweep occurs twice in a row from left-to-right and right-to-left. His Revenge form immediately fires after stopping on three Kirbies and the final ground sweep continuously moves from one side to the other and back again before quickly sweeping one last time.
アクストルネイド

King D-Mind spins rapidly around with his axe and takes to the air, flying in and out of the arena. He gets dizzy afterwards.
アクスボンバー
Axe Bomber
King D-Mind jumps into the air with his poleaxe, and then comes crashing down, creating a large explosion where he lands. This is done three times in a row.

シャイニングアクス
Shining Axe
King D-Mind charges his poleaxe in the center of the stage, then releases two waves of starry projectiles across the stage that cover almost every portion of it.

Music[edit]

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe[edit]

The first phase of King D-Mind battle plays a new remix of the theme "Castle Lololo", which is also used in the Landia EX battle. On Kirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack, this song is titled 強大なボスとの決戦 (Decisive Battle with a Mighty Boss).

The second phase of King D-Mind battle plays a new orchestral mashup of "Last Boss / Second Form" (Dark Mind's theme) and "Dedede's Royal Payback" (Masked Dedede & Shadow Dedede's theme from Kirby: Triple Deluxe).

Super Kirby Clash[edit]

King D-Mind's Revenge uses remixed versions of the music tracks from Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, while the music used for both phases of King D-Mind's regular form is a remix of the Giant Masked Dedede battle theme in Kirby's Blowout Blast.

Trivia[edit]

 • King D-Mind's internal filename is "MaskedBlackDedede", a combination of Masked Dedede and Black Dedede (the Japanese name of Shadow Dedede). Based on his moveset, King D-Mind can be considered "Shadow Dedede DX", but they are different characters.
 • King D-Mind's Revenge in Super Kirby Clash has the highest health in the entire Kirby series history, with 3,039,600 HP. This information is not directly communicated to the player, and it should be noted that the Kirby Clash games use a different health and damage system from the main series.
 • King D-Mind is the only final boss that debuted before Kirby Star Allies who isn't featured in the "Bad Boss Brothers" Celebration Picture.
