Presumably in the basement of [[Castle Dedede]]. Escargoon is hard at work researching the data on the memory chip. He finds a blueprint within it for a machine that magnifies the user's strength. King Dedede explains to Escargoon ways that the device could be used and that he is to build it immediately. During their search, Sword and Blade encounter Masher 2.0, who seems uninterested in the knights. Sword and Blade attempt to strike it, but fail miserably. Knuckle Joe then enters the battle and Masher 2.0 readies its assault. Knuckle Joe dodges Masher 2.0 attacks and deals a blow to its vision screen, but Masher 2.0 quickly recovers from it. Tiff and Kirby arrive one the scene and Tiff calls for the [[Warp Star]]. Masher 2.0 prepares to crush Knuckle Joe, but Kirby swoops in and rescues him. Their flight is only brief though as Kirby flies into a wall.

Back at the castle, Escargoon finishes the glove-like device and explains to King Dedede that it will not work unless a gem is inserted. King Dedede then remembers where some are located. King Dedede pulls out Escargoon's secret stash of gems and states that he will use them for the machine. Meta Knight pulls up in the [[Royal Racecar]] and the group speeds off towards the battle. After it is prepared, though, all of Knuckle Joe's attempts to fire with it fails.

Masher 2.0 then reveals its hidden ability of flight. It rises into the sky and fires a devastating beam that ravages the area. The group breaks free from the rock debris, but then discover that all the gems got destroyed. Tuff then gives Knuckle Joe his medallion that he reclaimed earlier and Knuckle Joe places it within the device. Masher 2.0 fires once more, but Knuckle Joe fires back and the beams meet. Knuckle Joe is knocked off his feet, but Kirby quickly jumps down and regains Knuckle Joe's stance. The beams struggle against each other until Masher 2.0 is overwhelmed by the beam and is ultimately destroyed. Knuckle Joe's medallion slowly fades away, and he explains that its power has now become his. The episode ends as Tiff happily rejoins them.

Differences between versions

  • No major scenes were removed in the 4Kids dub. However, very minor scenes were cut due to time restraints.

Dialogue differences

  • In the Japanese version, when King Dedede and Doctor Escargon find the memory chip, they plan to sell it to Holy Nightmare Co. for a high price, rather than in the 4Kids dub, where they plan to turn harmless creatures into monsters without them.
  • In the Japanese version, Sword Knight shows annoyance at Masher 2.0's disinterest in them, rather than stating that it is only after Knuckle Joe.
  • In the Japanese version, Knuckle Joe is mostly silent as he reminds Fumu of Masher's past form, rather than explaining what he did at the time through most of it.

Trivia

  • This episode is one of the few that contains blood. While Knuckle Joe is dodging Masher 2.0's flail, one of the spikes grazes his cheek.
  • It is unknown if King Dedede nor Escargoon ever even knew of Masher 2.0's existence.
  • This episode marks the first time someone other than King Dedede or Escargoon has driven the Royal Racecar.
  • Escargoon's box of gems that King Dedede pulls out has a lock on it in the shape of his head.
