eNeMeE Elementary is the 58th episode of the Kirby: Right Back at Ya! series. In this episode, King Dedede sets up a new school which the children of Dream Land are obliged to attend. Teaching lessons are the senior Cappies, but they act strangely aggressive whenever they put on the teacher's hat, and their harsh discipline starts to brainwash the kids into liking King Dedede. After receiving a clue from Meta Knight, Tiff learns that the hat is possessing the teachers, and Kirby and Tuff knock it away. From here, the hat turns into the monster Teacher Creature and attacks, but Kirby defeats it using the Fighter Copy Ability and destroys the academy in the process, freeing the kids.

A short time later, the bell rings at the new Dedede Academy, and the people of Dream Land come running in to have a look. Escargoon also gives an introduction to the school on Channel DDD as the Cappies and Tiff's parents unwittingly sign up their kids for classes. Tiff protests, thinking this to be another of Dedede's tricks, but her parents ensure her that some of the senior Cappies will be teaching, so there should not be an issue. The next day, the school officially opens, and most of the Cappies along with Tiff's family and Kirby come dressed in uniforms to attend. After introductory remarks, the students are ushered in to the classroom. After trading some self-flattering remarks with each-other, King Dedede and Escargoon begin with a math lesson taught by Mrs. Bookem. Tiff and Tuff are relieved to see someone other than Dedede teaching, but when Buttercup puts on the "required" teaching cap, she suddenly becomes much more aggressive and antagonizes the students while praising King Dedede, even as he cheats to get the answers to the problem. After trying to get Kirby to solve a particularly beefy multiplication, Escargoon cuts Buttercup's lesson short and removes her hat, and she returns to her normal cheery disposition.
Next up is a science lesson with Mayor Len, who also becomes much more aggressive after putting on the hat. He instructs his students to pull out beakers and combine sulfur, nitric acid, and charcoal and then light the result on fire, causing their beakers to blow up in their faces. From there, Mayor Len requests plutonium which he intends to split, but Tiff stops the lesson for everyone's safety by hammering the potential nuclear weapon. Escargoon encourages Mayor Len to punish Tiff for this interruption, and he does so, forcing her to stand out in the hall and balance a huge pail of water. After this lesson, lunch is served by Chef Kawasaki. Tiff and Tuff notice that he is the only one so far who is not acting strange, which makes Tiff very suspicious. After lunch, Professor Curio is up next to teach history. After putting on the hat, Curio claims that all of the ancient Cappy artifacts are in fact relics from the Dedede dynasty, which leads Tiff to question his sincerity. Curio responds by forcing the school textbook into her hands, though Tiff claims the book is full of lies. After Curio's lesson is over, the kids are sent out for gym class, and soon find themselves trapped behind electric fences in a prison-yard like field. Escargoon sends Melman up to teach, which causes the kids to laugh, as Melman is not known to be physically active. However, when he puts on the hat, Melman proceeds to order the kids through a military-style training regiment. Tiff tries to stand up for the kids, but Melman inflicts remedial training and gives all the kids a homework assignment for Tiff's behavior.
After school is over, Tiff and Tuff are left with a mountain of homework which appears to be propaganda for King Dedede. Tiff remains defiant and refuses to do it, but Tuff insists that not doing it will incur the wrath of the teachers. As King Dedede and Escargoon enjoy the new-found quiet, Tiff and Kirby sneak into the throne room and find leftover construction materials for the school. Meta Knight shows up and points Tiff to a particular manual left behind, which reveals the secret of why the teachers were so aggressive. Tiff tries to study this manual overnight, which leads to her being exhausted in class the next day. This time, Chief Bookem steps up to teach music and dons the hat, becoming predictably aggressive. After making Kirby uncomfortable with his horn, Chief Bookem is then assaulted by the kids' discordant flute playing, which causes his hat to drop to the floor and making him return to normal. Next up, art class is taught by Mabel. She dons the hat and then barks orders at the kids to make drawings and sculptures. As Tiff wonders about Mabel's uncharacteristic anger, she looks over and sees Tuff and the other kids sculpting King Dedede, and comes to the conclusion that they have been brainwashed. After disrupting class again, Tiff is apprehended by Mabel, and Tiff realizes that the hat is what is causing the aggressive behavior. Hearing this, Kirby jumps for the hat and pulls it off of Mabel, but accidentally places it on Tiff's head.
Tiff is immediately hypnotized by the hat, and proceeds to chase after Kirby with a desk. Tuff jumps forward and kicks the hat off of Tiff to break the spell on her. From there, the hat starts to glow and transform into a monster called the Teacher Creature. This monster then proceeds to pound Kirby repeatedly by jumping on him, then hitting him repeatedly with its pointer. Kirby tries to inhale Teacher Creature, but cannot do so. Kirby is then thrown through a wall and pelted with chalk and erasers. Tiff tells Kirby to inhale these implements and he does so, somehow gaining the Fighter Copy Ability. Using this ability, Kirby makes quick work of Teacher Creature, defeating it using a Rising Break. The students quickly flee the school as the Teacher Creature explodes, taking the Dedede Academy with it. Later on, Buttercup recounts the story to her class in an impromptu setting out in the countryside, and the episode ends as Tiff and Tuff comment on how much nicer she is without the hat.
Differences between versions[edit]
- In the Japanese version, Iro incorrectly answers one plus one as three, which results in Buttercup picking him up and tossing him into King Dedede and Escargoon. She later does the same to Kirby when he fails to answer the math problem posed to him.
Dialogue differences[edit]
- In the Japanese version, the song Tuff and the Cappy kids sing while painting their graffiti is the second verse of "Kihon wa Maru". Kirby can also be heard singing with them, though he is still only saying "poyo".
- In the Japanese version, the dialogue is peppered with much more social commentary regarding how some school systems are comparable to prisons, and how irresponsible parents tend to send kids to school in place of proper parenting.
- In the Japanese version, the anthem of the Dedede Academy is different, with no relevance to following the rules. Specifically, the anthem is a parody of "Aogeba Tōtoshi" (仰げば尊し, literally "looking up in reverence"), a graduation song that would have been known widely to adult audiences of the time although declining in use from the 1990s onwards due to its antiquated vocabulary and social notions.
- In particular, the anthem twists the original's first lines from 仰げば尊し / 我が師の恩 ("looking up in reverence / how kind our teachers are") into 扇げば涼しい / デデデの恩 ("fanning the air to make it cool / how kind is Dedede"), making use of the fact that 仰ぐ (aogu, "to look up") and 扇ぐ (aogu, "to fan") sound the same. The anthem then devolves further.
- In the Japanese version, when Tiff is reading the teacher's manual, she glosses over the part that mentions the hat due to being tired.
- In the Japanese version, the song the kids play during the music lesson is a warbly version of the "Kirby ★ March" theme. Chief Bookem tries to stop them due to the song being "full of dangerous ideas".
- In the Japanese version, Fighter Kirby shouts out the names of his attacks as he uses them.

- The school uniforms used in this episode were recycled from the magic school uniforms in A Novel Approach. This fact is explicitly mentioned in the Japanese version.
- Curio's hypnotized speech insisting that the ancient Cappy relics are actually Dedede dynasty artifacts is a nod to the earlier episode Curio's Curious Discovery.
- This episode marks the first time that Tiff has attacked Kirby, albeit while in a possessed state.
