"Kihon wa Maru" is the ending theme of the Japanese and Chinese versions of Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, used from Kirby Comes to Cappy Town to A Whale of a Tale. The lyrics of the song explain how to draw Kirby, in a manner similar to the intro from Kirby's Adventure. The song's title translates to "First you draw a circle." The song is in F major, going at a 4/4 time signature at 144 beats per minute. It is replaced by "Kirby ☆ Step!" starting with Waddle While You Work and persisting until Fright to the Finish. The Chinese version of the show does not translate this song or "Kirby ★ March", instead leaving them in Japanese.

"Kihon wa Maru" is sung by a pseudonymous female vocalist credited as "Xiangqi". According to a profile from the March 2002 issue of CoroCoro Comic, she is from Beijing, China, and was born on February 17th, 1981 (making her 20 years old at the time of recording). Little else is known about her, and besides singing this song and "Kirby ★ March", she has no other professional credits.

In Abusement Park, Kirby attempts to sing this song, but fails badly (due to being tone-deaf). A sad horn plays outside the fourth wall in the Japanese version to reflect his sub-optimal performance. In The Kirby Quiz, Mike Kirby returns, singing the same melody. The sad horn is not featured there.

The song was released on the single Kirby of the Stars Theme Song, as the B-side to "Kirby ★ March". It was also featured on the album TV Anime Kirby of the Stars Original Soundtrack. An interactive, Flash version of the song can be played on the anime's CBC website, which plays the drawing process (alongside portions of the song's instrumental) in segments that can be clicked in any order. Viewers can choose to see either the Kirby or King Dedede sections of the song, which show their respective lyrics.
