"History of Dedede"[2] is a musical piece composed by Hirokazu Ando which first appears in Kirby Fighters Deluxe. It is a remixed medley of different versions of "King Dedede's Theme" and other musical themes associated with King Dedede throughout the history of the Kirby series, hence its name, which was originally given by the developers during a Miiverse thread.[2]
Composition
This medley consists of retro arrangements of the following themes playing in order:
- Intro of "Masked Dedede's Theme";
- "King Dedede's Theme" from Kirby's Dream Land;
- "Boss" battle theme from Kirby's Adventure;
- "VS. Robo Dedede" from Kirby's Dream Course;
- "Masked Dedede's Theme" in full (only this section is looped in play).
Game appearances
Kirby Fighters Deluxe
During the final battle with Team DDD64 on the Very Hard difficulty in Kirby Fighters Deluxe, after defeating 61 Mini Dededes, the "History of Dedede" medley appears with the remaining opponents: King Dedede himself and 2 orange Combo Dededes.
Due to the absence of a Jukebox, the medley can't be found elsewhere in Kirby Fighters Deluxe.
Kirby Star Allies
In Kirby Star Allies, the same version of "History of Dedede" replaces "Macho of Dedede" when King Dedede is fought during The Ultimate Choice on the Soul Melter difficulty. The music change also occurs when fighting Parallel Dedede's first phase in Soul Melter EX.
"History of Dedede" can be found as Track 203 in the Kirby Star Allies Jukebox as of Version 4.0.0.
