In Kirby's Dream Land, Mt. Dedede is the name of the fifth and final stage. In this small stage, Kirby has to face all the previous bosses from the game (Whispy Woods, Lololo & Lalala, Kaboola and Kracko) again in any desired order by entering the door with the respective boss's picture on it. Before reaching each boss, however, Kirby must make his way through a small section of the level that boss was featured in, then touch a lingering copy of himself to make the door to the boss appear. Once all the bosses are defeated, Kirby is able to enter the picture of King Dedede in the middle of the room, starting a fight between with him, which takes place in a boxing ring.

This article is about the final level in Kirby's Dream Land and the Kirby Super Star / Kirby Super Star Ultra game Spring Breeze. For the castle in a more general context, see Castle Dedede.

Mt. Dedede (originally Mt. DeDeDe) is the name of the mountain atop which Castle Dedede sits. It is also the final stage in Kirby's Dream Land and of Spring Breeze in Kirby Super Star/Kirby Super Star Ultra. The stage takes place within the castle itself, culminating in a fight with its prime inhabitant - King Dedede - in a wrestling ring.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby's Dream Land[edit]

In Kirby's Dream Land, Mt. Dedede is the fifth and final stage. In this small stage, Kirby has to face all the previous bosses from the game (Whispy Woods, Lololo & Lalala, Kaboola, and Kracko) again in any desired order by entering the door with the respective boss's picture on it. Before reaching each boss, however, Kirby must make his way through a small area based on the stage that boss was featured in, then touch a lingering copy of himself to remove the enemies in the way of the door to the boss. Once all the bosses are defeated, Kirby is able to enter the picture of King Dedede in the middle of the room, starting a fight with him, which takes place in a boxing ring.

In Kirby Super Star and its remake, Kirby Super Star Ultra, Mt. Dedede appears as the last stage of Spring Breeze, a remake of Kirby's Dream Land. Unlike in the original game, no bosses have to be re-fought on Mt. Dedede. Instead, the stage consists of a small room containing a few enemies, each of which can provide Kirby with a Copy Ability, and a door that leads directly to the boss fight with Dedede. Like in Kirby's Dream Land, the fight takes place in a boxing ring, although it is considerably wider than in its first appearance. During the fight, several characters from the Mario franchise can be seen cheering in the audience, together with different enemies from the Kirby universe.

References in later games[edit]

The following are direct references to the Mt. Dedede stage in later Kirby games:

Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]

In addition to the stage itself being in Spring Breeze, the final stage of Revenge of the King - The Revenge - is based on Mt. Dedede.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

Taranza's kidnapping of King Dedede in Kirby: Triple Deluxe mimics King Dedede's defeat at the end of the Mt. Dedede stage.

In the opening for Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Taranza kidnaps King Dedede and crashes through the skylight of the castle to escape with him. When this happens, the castle adopts a sad expression, similar to the way it does when Dedede is defeated in the Mt. Dedede stage.

Kirby Fighters series[edit]

Main article: Dedede Arena

In all three iterations of Kirby Fighters, one of its Battle Stages is based on the battle with King Dedede used in the Spring Breeze version of Mt. Dedede.

Kirby's Blowout Blast[edit]

Level 5 of Kirby's Blowout Blast is inspired by Mt. Dedede, and features King Dedede as the boss. Unlike the original stage, however, the music used for the main stages is the Mint Leaf shooting theme.

Profiles[edit]

Kirby's Dream Land Instruction Booklet (NA Print)[edit]

King Dedede and His Crew are Waiting on This Mystical Mountain
King Dedede heard you were coming and he has called for all the stage bosses to return to Mt. Dedede to protect him. This is going to be your toughest battle yet, but if you've come this far, you mustn't give up. Remember, the people of Dream Land are counting on you!

Super Game Boy Nintendo Player's Guide[edit]

The first time Kirby saw Mount Dedede, he thought he was having a nightmare! All four of the guardians sent their twins to guard the mountain. Once again, it's a matter of fight, fight, fight! But be of good cheer. Soon, if you succeed, the Dreamlanders will have their beloved Sparkling Stars back. Kirby gets to select the order in which he defeats these guys. Before each main opponent, Kirby has to go through a mini-stage, then it's on to the head honcho![1]

Trivia[edit]

 • The music that plays in this stage would eventually become King Dedede's theme song. It would be remixed, expanded, and revamped several times over throughout the series.
 • In Kirby's Dream Land, the Gordos that can be seen guarding the doors to the boss rematches will K.O. Kirby if he touches them, regardless of how much life Kirby had prior to the encounter.
