— Narrator from the tutorial of Kirby: Canvas Curse

Touch Dash is Kirby's main attack in Kirby: Canvas Curse and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and is activated by touching him with the stylus. When activated, Kirby can dash into the enemy in question and defeat them, though an opening must be found in many cases first. If an enemy defeated in this fashion grants a Copy Ability, Kirby will obtain that ability after defeating the enemy in this manner. However, it will not work against indestructible enemies and enemies which can harm Kirby if struck like Gordos.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby: Canvas Curse[edit]

In Kirby: Canvas Curse, Kirby's Touch Dash is his primary means of attacking when he has no Copy Ability. It can also be used to give him a burst of speed, allowing him to jump off of ramps and the rainbow line to gain extra height. The Touch Dash is also used to activate certain stage elements, like passing through a stopper line or jumping between stick panels. When underwater, Kirby can use his Touch Dash to dive deeper.

Touch Dash can be used to defeat most enemies without having to stun them first. Even against invulnerable enemies, the Touch Dash can potentially allow Kirby to pass through unharmed. Naturally, Kirby cannot use his Touch Dash when he has a Copy Ability.

Dash! Jump![edit]

Main article: Dash! Jump!

Dash! Jump! is an end of level game in Kirby: Canvas Curse that uses the speed Kirby gets from repeated touch dashes in order to gain more distance.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[edit]

In Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Kirby uses the Touch Dash as his primary form of attack. It functions nearly identically to the way it does in Kirby: Canvas Curse, giving Kirby a brief boost of speed, but this time not causing Kirby to dive deeper when he is underwater. A blue aura hovers around Kirby while his Touch Dash is active, indicating that he can damage enemies instead of the other way around when touching them. Kirby can also perform a stronger attack called a Star Dash after collecting enough Point Stars or using the Kirby amiibo, which turns him into a big projectile that shoots in a straight line through the air and can be guided with the Rainbow Rope.
