A sad shell possessed by the limitless power of the Master Crown, no more than a manifestation of the crown itself.
— VS Magolor Soul Special Page from Kirby's Return to Dream Land
What remains of Magolor is a sad shell. He's possessed by the limitless power of the Master Crown, imprisoned by the hatred and obsessions of prior rulers. Now...defeat it and free Magolor's soul!
— VS Magolor Soul Special Page from Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe's Extra Mode

Magolor Soul is the final boss of Extra Mode in the game Kirby's Return to Dream Land, being fought after Magolor EX is defeated. He has a much more menacing appearance in this form than his old one, such as being more of a bluish-black color, and having a more elaborate crown with a spikier build. Additionally, while the original form only shows the eyeball in his mouth once the second phase begins, Magolor Soul shows it from the start. Most of his attacks in this form are the same as the ones he used in the second phase of his battle in the main game. However, they now do more damage or look different, such as his Deadly Needle attacks now having thorns and being done in different locations. He keeps his previous attacks of using his own dark versions of the Super Abilities like in the original battle, but now Magolor Soul can use a new attack that combines the attributes of the Grand Hammer and Snow Bowl powers.

Magolor Soul also appears as the final boss in The True Arena of Kirby's Return to Dream Land.

Attacks

Extra Mode

Compared to his Main Mode counterpart, all of Magolor Soul's attacks are souped up, and he has a few new ones.

Although not officially considered an attack, if Kirby still held on to the Ultra Sword Super Ability from the last fight, Magolor Soul begins by sending a shock wave that immediately removes the ability and destroys it. The shockwave deals no damage but does deal knockback and can cause other player Kirbys to lose their ability.

Attacks - Magolor Soul
Attack Description
ブラックホール
Black Hole
This is Magolor Soul's first attack only if Kirby still had Ultra Sword from the previous fight. Magolor Soul opens an unguardable black hole in an attempt to suck Kirby or his friends in, all the while causing the entire background to swirl around it in the original Wii version. If Kirby is caught, he will take massive unavoidable damage.
コーリングショット
Calling Shot
Magolor Soul conjures, then juggles random enemies, some with Copy Abilities, he then tosses them at lethal velocity at Kirby. More enemies than in the Main Mode. The first enemy will always carry the ability Kirby ditched for the Super Abilities in the previous battle (or a hammer if he had Hammer, and otherwise a Halcandle Dee if he didn't have an ability).
キルニードルワープ
Deadly Needles Warp
Magolor Soul conjures rifts at various positions, which shoot out spikes. Faster and with more patterns than in the Main Mode. Can be done either once or three times in a row.
魔力球
Magic Spheres
Magolor Soul conjures and tosses orbs of black energy from varying positions. These can be deflected or inhaled. More of them than in the Main Mode.
マホロア砲
Magolor Cannon
Magolor Soul fires a laser beam into a rift, which then systematically fires across the entire stage and air, leaving stars on its last strikes. Additionally, Magolor Soul may fire a giant laser beam that covers the entire stage, creating stars where it hits. Much faster than in the Main Mode.
ワープホールアタック
Warp Hole Attack
Magolor Soul travels into a rift, then exits one on the stage in an attempt to ram Kirby, then going into another rift to do it again.
アナザーディメンション
Another Dimension
Magolor Soul jumps into the background and draws a stencil, the solid parts of which transpose onto the stage as a wall of pain. The shapes are more complex and leave less open space.
ギガトンスノーハンマー
Grand Snow Hammer
Magolor Soul slams a giant icy hammer into the ground, creating a shock wave similar to Kirby's Grand Hammer, creating icicles that fall from the top of the arena, and making the floor icy for a long period afterward.
ウルトラソード
Ultra Sword
Magolor Soul takes out two black swords, and swings them one at a time in a manner similar to Kirby's Ultra Sword. They leave stars where they hit. He then finishes by swinging them both at once, with the only safe zone being the very middle of the stage.
ドラゴストーム
Monster Flame
Magolor Soul conjures two dark fire dragons, which he directs across the stage, leaving stars in their wake. Compared to the Main Mode where the dragons attack from horizontal positions, the dragons in Extra Mode attack from vertical positions.
ミラクルビーム
Flare Beam
Magolor Soul charges up, and then flies around the stage in an orb of dark energy, while another empty orb does the same, similar to Kirby's Flare Beam.
Screen Flip[conjectural title]
After using four Super Ability attacks, Magolor Soul jumps into the background and flips the screen orientation, making it more difficult for the player to discern direction correctly. He flips the screen right-side up after attacking with either Deadly Needles Warp once, Warp Hole Attack or Another Dimension, followed by two sets of Magic Spheres.

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, these same attacks are also used for Magolor Soul's battle in The True Arena.

The True Arena

The one-eyed wreath grants power but swallows the soul... It devours, stealing any sense of self... Truly, this crown rules all. Free him from this nightmare! Take his hand and save a new friend!
— VS Magolor Soul Phase 1 Special Page from Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Exclusively in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Magolor Soul's battle in The True Arena is drastically different compared to the Extra Mode version. All of his attacks have been souped-up in power and he also has some new attacks too. The fight also now plays "Supreme Ruler's Coronation - OVERLORD" from Kirby Star Allies, rather than "CROWNED". This time, much like HR-D3, he has two separate health bars.

Magolor Soul True Arena attacks - Phase 1
Attack Description
マホロア砲
Magolor Cannon
Magolor Soul charges up and then fires two giant laser beams stacked on top of each other that almost cover the entire stage, creating stars where they hit. The blind spot is directly underneath Magolor Soul. He may also instead fire a laser beam into a rift, which then systematically fires in a square formation across the entire stage before firing one last beam straight in the center of the arena that leaves stars behind.
ワープホールアタック
Warp Hole Attack
Magolor Soul travels into a rift, then exits one on the stage in an attempt to ram Kirby, then going into three more sets of rifts to do it again and again and again.
キルニードルワープ
Deadly Needles Warp
Magolor Soul conjures rifts at various positions, which shoot out spikes. Once the final rifts close, stars are left behind. Can either be done once, twice or three times in a row. Unlike in Extra Mode, Magolor Soul can sometimes leave the rifts open while performing Magic Sphere attacks. If three sets are done in a row, then sometimes the rifts open roughly where Kirby is currently standing.
魔力球
Magic Spheres
Magolor Soul conjures and tosses orbs of black energy from varying positions. These can be deflected or inhaled. Much more varied and devastating than in Extra Mode.
ブラックホール
Black Hole
Magolor Soul opens two unguardable black holes, one on each side of the stage, in an attempt to suck Kirby or his friends in. If Kirby is caught in one of them, he will take massive unavoidable damage.
コーリングショット
Calling Shot
Magolor Soul conjures, then juggles seven random enemies, some with Copy Abilities, before tossing them at lethal velocity at Kirby. The enemies are juggled and sent towards Kirby much faster than in Extra Mode.
アナザーディメンション
Another Dimension
Magolor Soul jumps into the background and draws a stencil, the solid parts of which transpose onto the stage as a wall of pain. This attack repeats two more times.
Kirby... Ugh! I hate having to rely on you, and your vacant stare when I revealed my grand plan was truly insulting. Well, let's see if you can break this thing on my head. If you can, then someday...hee hee heee...I may get to toy with you again!
— VS Magolor Soul Phase 2 Special Page from Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Once his health bar is depleted, Magolor Soul's two "eyes" disappear and the body then coughs out an apple that can be eaten by Kirby or friends to replenish some lost health before it disappears. After a few seconds, the crown-controlled Magolor Soul abruptly surges with more power as his health bar refills back to full and continues his onslaught with dangerous attacks. Shortly after he starts attacking again, Magolor starts trying to cry in vain for Kirby to end his pain and suffering.

Magolor Soul True Arena attacks - Phase 2
Attack Description
Sand Storm[conjectural title]
Magolor Soul summons two sand cyclones and then sends them both into the foreground one after another. The cyclones cannot be guarded and must instead be avoided. Stars are left behind after the cyclones dissipate.
Mecha Blaster[conjectural title]
Magolor Soul summons two launchers and then fires three sets of giant blue fireballs from the background, leaving behind pools of flame when they hit the ground. Afterwards, Magolor Soul charges up two giant laser beams that start at ground level before quickly moving straight up after the fact. Stars are left behind after the laser sweep.
ミラクルビーム
Flare Beam
Magolor Soul charges up, and then flies around the stage in an orb of dark energy, while two empty orbs do the same.
ドラゴストーム
Monster Flame
Magolor Soul conjures dark fire dragons, which he directs across the stage, leaving stars in their wake. This time, two dragons attack at the same time for the first two sets, one horizontal and the other vertical. For the final set, four dragons attack at once, two horizontal and two vertical. The charge-up time is slightly longer to compensate.
Screen Flip[conjectural title]
Magolor Soul jumps into the background and flips the screen orientation, making it more difficult for the player to discern direction correctly. He flips the screen right-side up after performing two more attacks.

Trivia

  • When Magolor Soul uses his version of Ultra Sword, his swords resemble the Galaxia, Meta Knight's sword.
  • During Magolor Soul's defeat animation, a cry that sounds like "Kirby!" can be heard. This sound effects track is called "Free...Me...Kirby..." (解トキハナ…ッテ……K…r……b……ー!, Release me...this...K...r...b...! in Japanese) in the Jukebox of Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, supporting this idea.
  • Magolor Soul is the only Soul boss in the series that can be fought in more than one mode, those being Extra Mode and the True Arena. The others are exclusively fought in one mode. Drawcia Soul is only battled at the end of Story Mode, Marx Soul, Soul of Sectonia, and Star Dream Soul OS are all fought only in The True Arena, Void Soul is fought exclusively in The Ultimate Choice on Soul Melter difficulty, and Chaos Elfilis is exclusively fought in the Colosseum in The Ultimate Cup Z.
    • Because of Magolor Soul's appearance in Extra Mode, the only boss exclusive to this game's True Arena is Galacta Knight.
    • This is partially subverted in the remake as Magolor Soul's moveset has been altered to be more difficult than his Extra Mode counterpart, in addition to having an extra phase with new attacks.
