KSqS KMoA (known as in ) is a game for the Nintendo DS released in 2006, developed by Flagship and Natsume, and published by HAL Laboratory and Nintendo. Unlike the preceding Kirby game, KCC KPP, it is controlled using the four face buttons rather than the touch screen. It has a special feature in it, like most DS Kirby games, called bubbles. It has a main story mode and four Sub-Games, with one of them being hidden at the beginning. Another feature is the Collection Room, where the player can change Kirby's color, listen to music, and view collected items.
Kirby: Squeak Squad, (known as Kirby: Mouse Attack in British English, and sometimes spelled without a colon) is a main-series Kirby game for the Nintendo DS released in 2006, developed by Flagship and Natsume, and published by HAL Laboratory and Nintendo. The game uses the same base graphical style as its preceding games, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land and Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, though several new sprites for Kirby and other characters are present, and the game engine has been updated, providing smoother gameplay. Being on the Nintendo DS, a number of stylus-based features are included, mainly in the form of the bubbles and the Copy Palette, which gives Kirby an inventory of sorts that he can use to store Treasure Chests and other items. The game features a main story mode and four Sub-Games, with one of them being hidden initially. Another feature is the Collection Room, where the player can change Kirby's color, listen to music, and view collected items.

Kirby: Squeak Squad plays very similarly to other main-series titles, though it features a more traditional level and stage system, similar to that of Dyna Blade from Kirby Super Star, though larger in scope. In this game, Kirby has his precious Strawberry Shortcake stolen by a band of interstellar thieving mice called the Squeaks, and he chases them all over the world to get it back. In the process, Kirby gets tangled up first with King Dedede and then with Meta Knight, and fights both of them over a misunderstanding. In the latter case, Kirby and the Squeaks' leader Daroach accidentally open up a treasure chest containing an ancient evil, and Kirby has to battle and defeat it using Daroach's Triple Star cane. Only afterward, as thanks for saving him and as an apology for the trouble he caused, does Daroach return Kirby's cake to him, ending the conflict.

The story of Kirby: Squeak Squad takes a bit more of a lighthearted and comedic approach than is normal for Kirby games, but the overall story arc is nonetheless familiar. It begins on a tranquil day in Dream Land, where Kirby is seen about to have a snack out in the middle of a green field. His treat is a piece of lavishly-decorated Strawberry Shortcake, which the narration takes great pain to point out is Kirby's obsession, particularly as the cake is snatched away from the hungry puffball's plate by an unseen thief before he can eat it. It takes a moment for Kirby to realize his precious cake has been taken from him, but once he does, he immediately assumes that King Dedede is responsible (since it wouldn't be the first time), and heads off to Castle Dedede to teach the greedy King a lesson.

The game starts with Kirby about to devour his precious Strawberry Shortcake during a peaceful afternoon at Dream Land. Just as he is about to eat it, Kirby's Cake suddenly disappears, which prompts the Pink Puffball to head to Castle Dedede, thinking the castle's greedy owner stole it. Once Kirby defeats King Dedede in the first world, he discovers that King Dedede is not behind the stolen cake. Soon, the Squeaks, a gang of space thieves, arrive and steal a chest that presumably contained the Shortcake. While they are trying to escape, King Dedede grabs Kirby and throws him into the Squeaks. This causes Kirby to tumble into a large pit, leading to Nature Notch, the game's second level.

On his way to the castle, Kirby runs repeatedly into a strange new band of thieving rodents known as the Squeaks, and battles them for control of the treasure chests he finds. When he finally gets to the castle and trounces King Dedede, he realizes a little too late that Dedede was not responsible for taking Kirby's cake, and when the real thieves show up to steal more stuff, Dedede picks Kirby up and tosses him at them, causing the lot to fall into a deep hole leading to Nature Notch. From here, Kirby chases after the Squeaks and their leader Daroach to try and find the treasure chest that contains his cake. After chasing and battling them through several worlds, Kirby faces off against Daroach directly in Ice Island and defeats him, but before he can get his stubby hands on the chest that Daroach was personally keeping, Meta Knight appears and takes the chest for himself. Thinking this chest must be the one with his cake, Kirby runs after Meta Knight and defeats him in the recently-rebuilt Halberd as it takes off out of Secret Sea.

With Meta Knight defeated, Kirby approaches the chest, but it is taken from him again, this time by Daroach. Daroach wastes no further time and opens it, only to be swallowed in a cloud of black fog emanating from the chest. It turns out the chest contained an ancient evil known as Dark Nebula, and Meta Knight was trying to safeguard it from Kirby and Daroach. Now that Daroach has been possessed by this villain, Kirby must battle him to knock it out, and then use Daroach's Triple Star cane to chase the fleeing Dark Nebula through an asteroid field out in Gamble Galaxy and face down this threat. After defeating the monster in its true form, Kirby is free to return home, but he regrets having not found his cake along the way. However, a short time later, the Squeaks - grateful for Kirby's actions freeing Daroach and apologetic for the trouble they caused - return Kirby's cake to him, and the pink puffball is truly happy at last.
After Kirby has defeated the bosses through each world, he confronts Daroach in Ice Island. Right after Kirby defeats Daroach, Meta Knight arrives and steals the treasure chest that Kirby is about to take. Kirby decides to follow Meta Knight to Secret Sea, but he can fight Meta Knight only if he collects the five-star keys from glowing big treasure chests. Soon, after Kirby defeats Meta Knight inside the Halberd, Daroach reappears and takes the chest for himself again. However, when Daroach opens the chest, a dark force takes over his body and turns him into Dark Daroach, a darker version of himself. He escapes to Gamble Galaxy, forcing Kirby to follow him to stop the new threat.

After defeating Dark Daroach, Kirby notices that Daroach had been possessed by a small dark star. As the star flies away, Kirby grabs the Triple Star Cane that Daroach dropped and follows the star through the final stage. Arriving at the limits of Gamble Galaxy, the star starts to form a body, which becomes Dark Nebula, the lord of the underworld. During the fight against it, Dark Nebula takes on three forms to perform a variety of attacks: Fire, Ice, and electricity. In the end, Kirby triumphs over Dark Nebula and later learns that Meta Knight had stolen the treasure chest earlier in order to prevent the release of Dark Nebula. After the Squeaks have realized how much trouble they have caused, they leave and offer Kirby a Strawberry Shortcake as an apology for their mischief.

Due to being a main-series title, Kirby: Squeak Squad plays much like a standard Kirby game, with the main objective as always being to travel through stages containing various enemies and obstacles to reach the end or defeat a boss. Kirby has access to all of his standard moves and abilities, including his hover, inhale, slide, and air bullet, among others. He also makes use of his Copy Ability as usual by inhaling certain enemies or collecting Copy Essences inside bubbles. This game features many of Kirby's classic abilities, but five in particular are new to this game: Animal, Bubble, Metal, Ghost, and Triple Star, with Ghost being a secret unlockable ability and Triple Star being the Last Battle Ability which Kirby uses to fight the main villain at the end.

Gameplay
Despite it being very similar to the preceding games, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land and Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, and borrowing many elements from those games, Kirby: Squeak Squad has a large number of distinct innovations and features, some of which have not been seen since. The most distinct feature makes use of the Nintendo DS stylus and lower screen, and is referred to as the Copy Palette. This feature allows Kirby to store up to five items inside his stomach, which are contained within bubbles. At any time while playing a stage, Kirby can spit out one of these bubbles or use it by having the player tap the bubbled item with the stylus. Certain bubbled items can also be combined together inside the Copy Palette for various effects. The most important use of this feature is for Kirby to carry the treasure chests he finds within stages to the goal, as these treasure chests are the main collectibles of the game, and contain bonus features for viewing in the Collection Room, Ability Scrolls which can upgrade Kirby's Copy Abilities, key items for advancing the story, and other things.

KSqS KMoA plays like a traditional Kirby sidescroller, where Kirby can inhale and swallow enemies to gain their Copy Ability, but now each one is upgradable by finding Ability Scrolls hidden throughout the game in treasure chests. The game introduces five new abilities: Animal, Ghost, Metal (which bears resemblance to the absent Stone ability), Bubble, and Triple Star. Certain abilities can also directly affect the environment, such as using the Fire ability to burn down grass or using the Ice ability to freeze bodies of water.
Kirby: Squeak Squad also has a number of general improvements and additions to the gameplay and stage content. The game's engine allows for much tighter controls than earlier games and also allows Kirby to make greater use of his momentum when performing certain actions, making his movement overall feel smoother. There are also a wider array of stage devices and hazards, such as foliage that can be cut or burned to reveal secrets, water that can be frozen using Ice to walk on the surface, and metal surfaces that can have electric currents run through them using an electric attack like Spark. Many returning abilities are given additional attack options as well, with the most notable example being the Magic ability. Lastly, certain abilities can have attributes combined, such as imbuing the Sword ability with fire; a feature that would not return to the series until Kirby Star Allies.

Ability Scrolls can now be found in levels to upgrade abilities (such as being able to charge the Laser or increasing Beam's power). Another new addition to the franchise is the bubble. These bubbles contain Food, Copy Abilities, stars, and Kirby Bubbles, all of which can be combined. Combining three Kirby Bubbles will result in an extra life, combining two small food items will create a larger food item, and combining three stars will result in a larger and stronger Star Bullet for Kirby to spit at enemies. Typically, combining two ability bubbles will result in a random ability. However, after the player obtains the required scrolls, the Sword or Bomb ability can be mixed with Fire (only with Sword), Ice, or Spark to create a new ability.
left

There are treasure chests hidden in each level which contain unlockable items such music tracks for the Sound Player, Spray Paint cans to change Kirby's color, jigsaw puzzle pieces put together to create Graphics, the aforementioned Ability Scrolls, Vitalities to increase Kirby's maximum health, among other items.

Kirby: Squeak Squad is broken down into eight levels which are mostly the same size. Kirby accesses each stage via a simple selection screen, much like the one in Dyna Blade from Kirby Super Star. Notably, each level (except Gamble Galaxy) has a hidden bonus stage that can be unlocked by finding the Hidden Door Keys from treasure chests in the main stages. These bonus stages are optional, though they do contain more treasures. Each level is unlocked sequentially after beating the boss of the previous level, and can be traveled to via a World Map or sequentially through each stage select screen. The eight levels are as follows:

Kirby: Squeak Squad features a large array of Copy Abilities, five of which are new, and some of which carry over from the previous main-series game: Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. For the most part, the abilities still follow the example of Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land in that they are relatively simple and straightforward with few moves, though some abilities (most notably Fighter) break this mold, and most abilities can gain additional moves via the Ability Scrolls. As such, the ability complexity in this game can be said to be somewhere between Kirby's Adventure-style and Kirby Super Star-style. Kirby's abilities are as follows:

Dark Nebula can also release an ice beam that creates ice on the track, but this attack ignores the edges of the screen. Tornado and Wheel Kirby can use the temporary ice terrain to make their abilities icy.

Legacy
Kirby: Squeak Squad impacted many subsequent Kirby games to varying extents:
*The general concept of having a set number of collectibles to obtain throughout the game which are necessary to advance the story, (though crucially not requiring all of them to reach the true ending like in the Shinichi Shimomura-directed games) originated here. This concept would be repeated via Energy Spheres in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Sun Stones in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Code Cubes in Kirby: Planet Robobot, Friend Hearts in Heroes in Another Dimension from Kirby Star Allies, and Waddle Dees in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
*Daroach and the Squeaks would make several subsequent appearances throughout the series, most notably in Kirby Mass Attack and Kirby Star Allies.
*The concept of infusing certain abilities with elemental powers would become more fully-realized in the Power Effect mechanic in Kirby Star Allies.
*The concept of collecting scrolls to increase the power of Copy Abilities would be revisited via the Blueprints in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
*The Sub-Game Smash Ride would reappear along with the Squeakers in it in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe.

An unused design for a Copy Ability exists in the game's files called 'Block'. When Kirby has this ability, he gains a hat similar to that of Mirror from Kirby Super Star and gains a staff similar in look to the Triple Star cane. ==Nintendo eShop description==
Float, jump, and battle through eight huge worlds as Kirby takes control of a diabolical band of rodent robbers called the Squeaks! You can expect all of the action from a classic Kirby game, but this time, Kirby's Copy Abilities have been massively boosted.

Not only can you mix and match Copy Abilities by using the stylus to drag them together inside Kirby's belly, but the powers themselves now have the ability to affect the environment as well as foes. For example, you can burn trees and grasses with the Fire ability or freeze water with the Ice ability.

The massive array of Copy Abilities in Kirby: Squeak Squad will appeal to any Kirby fan, and a collection of well-hidden treasure chests to discover will reward players looking to find every last secret.

This article is about the game. For the titular band of characters, see Squeaks.
This article is about the game known in British English as Kirby: Mouse Attack, and should not be confused with the similarly named Kirby Mass Attack.

Story[edit]

A scene of Kirby about to eat his cake
Early afternoon in Dream Land,

It's so peaceful even the clouds are drowsy.
And now it's Kirby's favorite time of the day - snack time.
Today's yummy snack is a sweet, fluffy slice of strawberry shortcake!
Time to dig in...
WHOA! The cake Kirby was about to eat has suddenly vanished!
That scrumptious, berry-topped slice of mouth-watering goodness...
No doubt about it! This must be the work of that greedy King Dedede!
Well, there's no time to waste! Gotta get that cake back!
And that's how Kirby's latest fantastic adventure begins...

— Full intro cutscene text.

Meta Knight steals the treasure chest containing Dark Nebula to keep Kirby and Daroach from opening it.

Gameplay[edit]

In Kirby: Squeak Squad, Kirby's main objective in each stage is to collect treasure chests and carry them to the goal. Here, he is using the new Animal ability to reach one buried in dirt.

Levels[edit]

Image of the World Map that allows Kirby to travel in-between levels.

Enemies[edit]

Like in the previous Kirby games, enemies are present to hinder Kirby's progress or to provide him with a copy ability. Most enemies respawn after Kirby walks a certain distance away from their spawn point. Like in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, enemy health bars are shown to the player when Kirby attacks them, but unlike that game, enemy names are not displayed.

Basic Enemies[edit]

These enemies do not provide Kirby with any Copy Ability:

Mid-Bosses[edit]

When progressing through the game, Kirby can fight mid-bosses. Kirby can defeat them by attacking them with his Copy Ability or by spitting projectiles back at them. After Kirby defeats the Mid-Bosses, he can take their ability by sucking them in or he can attack them, making them explode:

Mid-Bosses in Kirby: Squeak Squad
Name Appearance Copy Ability Description
Big Metalun
KSqS Big Metalun Sprite.png
Metal A big metallic foe, similar to its smaller cousins though with more humanoid features. It is very slow-moving, signaling its intention to move when the top part of it lifts. It can use a rolling attack to attempt to run into Kirby. Once it rams into a wall, objects start falling, giving Kirby projectiles to attack it.
Bonkers
KNiDL Bonkers sprite.png
Hammer A gorilla-like foe that attempts to hit Kirby with his hammer, creating stars that can be spat back, or throws large coconuts at him, which can likewise be inhaled and used to defeat the Mid-Boss.
Box Boxer
KatAMBoxBoxer.png
Fighter This dog-based Mid-Boss attempts to punch Kirby and may also toss him, causing damage. From time to time, it fires large blasts of energy from its ears, which also serve as a means of defeating it.
Boxy
KatAMBoxy.png
Magic A cross of a plant and an anthropomorphic gift package, Boxy charges at Kirby or releases smaller gift boxes from its mouth, which Kirby may spit back at it. When not immediately inhaled, these boxes may open up to reveal bombs, which yield the Bomb ability, or food items.
Buboo
KSqS Buboo Sprite.png
Bubble Buboo is a red crab-like creature covered in a cloud of bubbles. It can ram into Kirby by spiraling and maneuvering. It can also spawn bubbles that are projectiles for Kirby to use. If it gets damaged consecutively enough times, it may lose all its bubbles and frantically scatter on the ground, releasing more bubbles for Kirby to use.
Gao Gao
KSqS Gao Gao Sprite.png
Animal Gao Gao is a large mustelid-like creature. It can spin rapidly, attacking Kirby with its sharp claws. Meanwhile, stars form around it, allowing Kirby to use them as projectiles if Kirby lacks a copy ability. After it spins, it is dizzy and stunned for a while. Another attack it can do is by spinning and flying into the air, then drilling into the ground where Kirby can stand. Its basic maneuvers include jumping forward or backward.
Mr. Frosty
KNiDL Mr Frosty sprite.png
Ice A walrus-like enemy wearing overalls that charges at Kirby or tosses ice cubes of two sizes at him, which can be used as ammunition to defeat him.
Tedhaun
KSqS Tedhaun Sprite.png
Ghost This mid-boss cannot be encountered without completing the Ghost Medal. Once it appears, it replaces existing mid-bosses. This mid-boss is the only creature in the game that possesses the extremely rare Ghost ability. It has mini versions of itself that it orders to attack, which can be used as projectiles. If Kirby comes too close to Tedhaun, the mid-boss grabs him and waits until a mini version collides with Kirby. Then, Tedhaun throws Kirby, damaging him.

The Squeaks[edit]

At regular intervals, Kirby will need to battle the Squeaks for control of certain Treasure Chests. Here, Kirby will need to wrangle a large chest away from Storo before he gets away with it.
Main article: Squeaks

If Kirby obtains a big treasure chest, the Squeaks appear. They can take the treasure chest and then go to their hideout. If Kirby does not enter their base in time, it closes down. Kirby can fight the Squeaks in or out of their hideout. The Squeaks flinch from all attacks, but attacking them with fire, ice, and electric attacks add an elemental effect. When they are attacked, they may release food. When they are brought down, Kirby can continue attacking them to make them release more food, but they do not receive damage. However, when they are in the base, they can go into an angry state after they have been brought down once. When they are in an angry state, they cannot flinch.

The Squeakers act like normal enemies. However, when they are defeated, they may release food. They are also capable of taking treasure chests, especially when no other Squeaks are around. Kirby will be forced to drop a treasure chest every time a member of the Squeaks attacks him, and will need to re-collect it quickly or have it stolen. If Kirby enters their base with no Squeaks present, the inside may be a room containing a few items or some Squeakers. However, once he exits outside the base, they reappear.

The Squeaks
Name Appearance Description
Yellow Squeakers
KSqS Squeaker Yellow Sprite.png
Yellow Squeakers do not attack other than jumping.
Green Squeakers
KSqS Squeaker Green Sprite.png
Green Squeakers throw bombs at Kirby.
Blue Squeakers
KSqS Squeaker Blue Sprite.png
Blue Squeakers throw bombs, like the Green Squeakers, but their bombs are much bigger.
Doc
KSqS Doc Sprite.png
The smartest of the gang, Doc rides in a U.F.O., making him the only flying Squeak aside from Daroach. His attacks involve his U.F.O, which can shoot lasers and drop bombs. However, he has the lowest HP of all the mid-bosses. He is also the only Squeak aside from Daroach to be fought as a boss twice. If sufficiently roughed-up, Doc may drop a laser gun, which Kirby can swallow to gain the Laser ability. Kirby might even be able to swallow his U.F.O given the right circumstances.
Spinni
KSqS Spinni Sprite.png
Spinni is the most agile of the Squeaks. Unlike the other Squeaks, he can swim and jump multiple times. Usually, when Kirby is against Spinni, the encounter involves a race to get the chest first. Spinni can swipe at Kirby with his claw or throw a ninja star. When Spinni is stunned, his weapons can be dropped: the ninja stars give Kirby the Ninja ability, and the claw weapon gives him Animal.
Storo
KSqS Storo Sprite.png
Storo is the strongest of the Squeaks, giving him the most HP and the strongest attacks. However, he is big and slow, making him easy to hit repeatedly. His attacks involve pounding with a hammer or slamming to the ground with his body. Both attacks produce stars, which can be inhaled and thrown at Storo. If Storo is knocked down, he may drop his hammer, which Kirby can swallow for the Hammer ability.

Bosses[edit]

Kirby battling Daroach, one of the game's bosses, using the Tornado ability.

Kirby: Squeak Squad's bosses, unlike in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror are fought in order, at the end of each level. Before each boss fight, Kirby can receive an ability bubble or another item in a bubble for the fight. Unlike mid-bosses, bosses do not yield an ability upon defeat. After Kirby defeats the boss, a large treasure chest appears. Inside it, Kirby can receive a Boss Battle Badge. Once Kirby collects all the badges, the Boss Endurance is unlocked.

Bosses in Kirby: Squeak Squad
Name Appearance Location Description
King Dedede
KSqS King Dedede Sprite.png
Prism Plains King Dedede is the first boss Kirby has to fight. Unlike the next bosses, King Dedede flinches from each hit, stopping his actions. King Dedede can jump and fly, attempting to run into Kirby. He can also use his hammer to hit Kirby as well. Like in the previous games, King Dedede sports the ability to inhale and spit out Kirby.
Mrs. Moley
KSqS Mrs Moley sprite.png
Nature Notch Mrs. Moley is a large, gray mole that apparently bears relations to Moley, a boss from Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. She sports similar attacks to Moley, such as throwing objects at Kirby. However, there are two holes where she emerges. She can also appear in the background. Once she is in the background, after some time, the glasses in her eyes may shine, and then she makes a big leap. A big shadow appears under Kirby, and Kirby has to dodge Mrs. Moley's body. If her body touches the hard ground, she is stunned for a while. If her body touches one of the two dirt patches, she digs in and resumes her attacks.
Mecha-Kracko
KSqS Mecha Kracko Sprite.png
Cushy Cloud This boss fights very similarly to Kracko. Like Kracko, it can move around to hit Kirby or dispense enemies for Kirby to use as an ability or a projectile. However, after the first set of HP is depleted, Doc is revealed controlling the machine. Then, Mecha-Kracko removes the original stage while Kirby has to keep flying. Mecha-Kracko replaces the stage with a new one, but with gaps, or a smaller one. Then, it can use new attacks, which can let it surround in electricity or attack below it with electricity.
Yadgaine KSqS Yadgaine Sprite.png Jam Jungle This is the second boss that Doc pilots. Kirby is forced to run continually while fighting this boss. Yadgaine can dig into the ground, throwing out rock fragments that Kirby should dodge. It can also shoot a laser from its mouth. Meanwhile, falling rocks can hurt Kirby, but Kirby can use these rocks to attack Yadgaine if he lacks a Copy Ability. After repeated hits, Yadgaine's claws can break, hindering its ability to dig. When both of its claws are broken, it cannot dig anymore. The final part that breaks is its mouth before it gets destroyed.
Bohboh
KSqS Bohboh Sprite.png
Vocal Volcano Bohboh is a fiery owl-like creature with a tanuki tail. It first appears by flying in the background. One of its attacks includes flying around and dropping fireballs which can be used as projectiles. It can also attempt to grab Kirby by charging at him. If it grabs Kirby, it throws him to the lava, hurting him and instantly destroying his Copy Ability in the lava pool. If it misses and hits the ground, it is stunned while rocks fall. The rocks can be a hazard, but Kirby can also use these to attack Bohboh. After this, Bohboh flies slowly with its eyes closed, also vulnerable to attack, until its eyes open.
Daroach
KSqS Daroach Sprite.png
Ice Island Daroach is the leader of the Squeaks. He performs multiple attacks, one of which include using the Triple Star Cane to throw stars and shooting an ice beam that can hurt or freeze Kirby, respectively. He can also throw bombs at Kirby, but this can be inhaled as well. During the boss fight, Daroach can teleport multiple times to avoid getting hit.
Meta Knight
KNiDL Meta Knight sprite.png
Secret Sea Meta Knight fights like from his previous battles. He can jump from place to place and defend against some of Kirby's attacks. His primary form of attack involves using his Galaxia. Unlike in previous games, Meta Knight does not offer a sword to Kirby, so his attacks produce Dropped Stars that Kirby can use to hit Meta Knight instead. Meta Knight can also create a whirlwind that spans almost the whole arena that can catch Kirby and toss him into the air, then slam him to the ground. Meta Knight also has new attacks involving the fire and electric elements, allowing him to create an electric field or shoot fire blasts with his sword.
Dark Daroach
KSqS Dark Daroach Sprite.png
Gamble Galaxy Dark Daroach is similar to Daroach, but with more powerful attacks. His bombs, which are much larger, create fire pillars when they explode. His ice beam is also larger, and creates stars for Kirby to inhale and spit out back at him. The only attack that remains relatively unchanged is the star-throwing attack with his Triple Star Cane.
Dark Nebula
KSqS Dark Nebula Sprite.png
KSqS Dark Nebula Fire Sprite.png
KSqS Dark Nebula Ice Sprite.png
KSqS Dark Nebula Spark Sprite.png
Gamble Galaxy Dark Nebula is the final boss in this game. Before fighting it, Kirby must follow a small black star in a stage. At the end, the small black star grows and receives an eye, which forms Dark Nebula. At the beginning of the boss fight, Dark Nebula changes into one of three forms. All forms share attacks that involve shooting stars that inflict an effect of damage depending on Dark Nebula's current form.
 • Fire Form: Dark Nebula can move around in certain erratic angles to run into Kirby. Dark Nebula can also release a giant fireball that, when it touches the ground, releases a giant fire pillar that covers it and the ground.
 • Ice Form: The ice form allows Dark Nebula to move into a circle, trying to hit Kirby with its body. Dark Nebula can also release an ice beam that creates ice on the track, but this attack ignores the edges of the screen. Tornado and Wheel Kirby can use the temporary ice terrain to make his abilities icy.
 • Electric Form: Dark Nebula's movement involves a zig-zag pattern. Its electric attack involves staying at the center, shooting four electric beams towards the corners, and electrifying the borders of the screen.

Sub-Games[edit]

Kirby facing off against Storo in Speedy Teatime; one of the Sub-Games in Kirby: Squeak Squad

Kirby: Squeak Squad has four Sub-Games (three of which use the touch screen): Speedy Teatime, Smash Ride, Treasure Shot, and Boss Endurance. The first three games have Kirby face-off with Storo, Spinni, and Doc respectively. Smash Ride also features some of the miscellaneous Squeakers. These first three games can also be played with up to three other players using DS Wireless Play (though each player requires their own DS and copy of the game).

Legacy[edit]

Kirby: Squeak Squad impacted many subsequent Kirby games to varying extents:

Unused content[edit]

Main article: Kirby Squeak Squad on TCRF
KSqS BlockKirby.png

An unused design for a Copy Ability exists in the game's files called 'Block'. When Kirby has this ability, he gains a hat similar to that of Mirror from Kirby Super Star and gains a staff similar in look to the Triple Star cane. It is unclear how this ability would have functioned.

KSqS Copy Palette Default Sprite.pngKSqS Unused Copy Palette Kirby Sprite.pngKSqS Unused Copy Palette Meta Knight Sprite.pngKSqS Unused Copy Palette Daroach Sprite.pngKSqS Unused Copy Palette King Dedede Sprite.png A couple of Copy Palette skins and item icons were left unused in the international versions of the game, but were obtainable during a limited-time event in the Japanese version. These designs were distributed exclusively through DS Station pop-up locations at electronics and specialty shops in Japan in 2007, between March 29 and April 4.[1]

There is an unused red variant of Squeaker who seems to have the same abilities as the green one, although it can double jump. While it doesn’t appear in the main game, it does appear in cutscenes and Sub-Games.

Nintendo eShop description[edit]

Trivia[edit]

The birthday notification.
 • King Dedede's design in Kirby: Squeak Squad's official artwork is very similar to his appearance in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!
 • Kirby: Squeak Squad has a notification for the player's birthday set on the console, which features a special illustration of Kirby and the Squeaks.
 • In this title, when left alone for long enough, Kirby will fall asleep and start dreaming of his shortcake. After a moment, he will wake up and inhale his dream cloud. This happens both in the stages and on the map screen.
 • A good part of this game's music consists of arrangements of songs from Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land and Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.
 • This is the first game in the Kirby series to be officially localized into Korean, reflecting the South Korean government's removal of almost all restrictions against Japanese cultural imports in 2004 (which had been in place since the Korean peninsula's liberation from Japanese colonial rule following the end of World War II in 1945).
