Magic Points are magical gemstones that Magolor can collect in stages in Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. They are the primary means of keeping score in stages, and also accumulate outside of stages, where they can be spent to increase Magolor's Magical Skills.

Methods of obtaining Magic Points[edit]

There are several different methods of obtaining Magic Points in Magolor Epilogue, as follows:

Collecting in stages[edit]

The most basic way to earn Magic Points is to collect them directly from stages.

Magic Points can be found out in the open in stages, as well as in the main level hub. Sometimes, they can be seen held by Key Dees, and some may be affected by gravity while others float in the air. They are also often found inside blocks.

Defeating enemies[edit]

Enemies are worth a certain amount of Magic Points when defeated, with larger and tougher enemies (particularly bosses) awarding more points upon defeat.

Enemy point values are as follows:

Scoring combos[edit]

Magolor getting a very special combo at the end of the Extra Stage

When Magolor hits an enemy or a block, he will gain points to his combo, which will continue to rise until a certain amount of time passes or Magolor gets hit, at which point it resets and awards him a certain number of extra points, with higher combos granting far more points than lower ones. Combos can also be extended by collecting Magic Points out in the open, and the expiry timer can be made longer by adding points to Magolor's Trickery skill.

The following table lists all combo scores up to 100. Scores for combos up to 99 follow a simple quadratic progression[1] while combo scores for 100 and above taper off from this progression and ultimately saturate at 3200 points.

Protecting the magic bulb[edit]

A magic bulb, as seen in a stage.

In some stages, there is a special device called the magic bulb which contains magic points. It will take damage if enemies attack it or collide with it, and the more damage it sustains, the less points it will award to Magolor at the end of an enemy ambush. If it takes too much damage, then the bulb will shatter, causing a giant explosion to severely damage Magolor and every on-screen enemy alongside not rewarding any Magic Points in the process. The amount of points awarded depends on the bulb and on how much damage it took.

Completing stages for the first time[edit]

Completing stages for the first time awards Magolor with an extra "first-time clear" Magic Point bonus which varies depending on the stage. This bonus does not change depending on how many points were earned in the stage.
