Super Bonkers is a slightly stronger version of the Mid-Boss Bonkers who debuts in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. It is unique in that it is a Mid-Boss that yields a Super Ability, whereas all the other Super Abilities are yielded by normal enemies.
Appearance and characteristics
Aesthetically, Super Bonkers retains its regular counterpart’s purple-maroon armor jacket, but it now has red trimmings that look like flames adorning its sleeves. Like the other Super Ability enemies, it has a star on its hair, and a multicolored aura around its body. Super Bonkers also wears black pants with light black detailing stylized as flames near the cuffs. It also wields a slightly pink-hued hammer, as opposed to Bonkers' standard hammer. Upon its defeat, Super Bonkers will yield Kirby the Grand Hammer ability. Super Bonkers cannot be inhaled to get the Grand Hammer ability because it explodes immediately upon defeat, leaving the Grand Hammer Ability Star behind which Kirby can pick up. But since Super Bonkers is a Mid-Boss, it cannot regenerate.
In Extra Mode, Super Bonkers' armored jacket is black with orange flame-shaped trimmings. Its hair and pants are red and the trimmings on the pants are orange like the ones on its sleeves. Super Bonkers EX also has a hammer with a gray tone to it. The wooden section of it is red, however.
Even though Super Bonkers is a Mid-Boss, it is not fought in The Arena and The True Arena most likely because it either gives the Grand Hammer Super Ability or fights in a similar fashion to that of regular Bonkers.
Attacks
Super Bonkers retains all of the attacks that its regular counterpart uses: it still uses the same jumping attack, hammer swing, thrown coconuts, spinning hammer move, and Hammer Flip from the Main Mode.
In its EX form, Super Bonkers EX uses all of its previous attacks again, but with more speed and power. It also uses a flying hammer spin in which coconuts are thrown, much like Bonkers EX.

Trivia
- Super Bonkers is not the only provider of Grand Hammer. Kirby can also obtain the ability from a glowing hammer thrown out by Magolor EX during his boss fight.
- Due to the nature of Bonkers' appearances resulting in him having less health or significance, Super Bonkers, while not technically stronger than regular Bonkers, appears to be tougher in practice.
