Hydriath lives in the oceans of this dimension. Born from water and ice, his powerful brawler moves flow smoothly and effortlessly. His Fruit Fragment will go to his boss—unless you steal it first!
— VS Hydriath Special Page from Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Hydriath is the boss of Poseiblu Dimension from Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. As a water-themed counterpart to Goriath, he is covered in blue scales and his hair is made of water. Upon defeating him, Magolor will receive a Fruit Fragment that lets him use his Black Hole.

Attacks[edit]

Hydriath's battle progresses in a similar manner to Goriath's: When he first appears, he pounds down on the ground, causing the stage to collapse and him and his opponents to fall to a lower level. In the second phase, he also pounds down on the ground to change the stage after losing enough health.

Hydriath's attacks are generally similar to those of Goriath, incorporating water rather than ice. The following lists all of Hydriath's attacks in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe.

Hydriath's attacks in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe
Attack Description
Wall Jump* Hydriath climbs a wall, then jumps back and forth between them. When doing multiple wall jumps in a row, his jumps become increasingly faster until he teleports for the last jump. He might teleport as he jumps between them at regular speed.
ハイドロスルー
Hydro Throw
While on a wall, Hydriath tosses two large Hydro Spheres at Magolor, which slowly fall to the ground. These spheres can be destroyed, or, when playing as Kirby, inhaled and swallowed for the Water ability. He may also continue by jumping on the other wall and throwing two more Hydro Spheres. In the second phase of the fight, he will throw two groups of two Hydro Spheres in a row.
グルグルパンチ
Spinning Punch
On the ground, Hydriath charges up a punch, then extends his arm all the way across the stage in an impressive feat of flexibility aimed at Magolor or Kirby. In an attempt to catch them off-guard, he may also teleport to the other side of the stage shortly before striking.
ヒップアタック
Hip Attack
While on a wall, Hydriath may charge up and then jump off the wall to pound the ground, sending out globs of water that fly out in an arc on both sides of him. Before his attack, he may teleport around while in the air to stomp down at a different part of the stage. In the second phase of the fight, he may teleport three times before stomping down.
Second phase only
ハイドロはどう
Hydro Wave
Hydriath forms and fires a very large Hydro Sphere, which will bounce off the walls and roof a little before bursting in the middle. This Hydro Sphere cannot be destroyed. Hydriath may also teleport to the other side of the stage before firing it.
連続バウンドロケット
Consecutive Bound Rocket
Hydriath charges up on a wall, then starts rapidly ricocheting between the two walls. At the end, he will stop on one wall briefly, then either teleport to the other wall and ricochet towards Magolor/Kirby or directly ricochet toward them without teleporting.
Water Drop* Hydriath pounds the ground, making water droplets appear mysteriously from above to fall. First, he will make two groups of two drops fall before finishing with a larger stomp that makes four drops fall at once.
Attack names listed are primarily taken from official Japanese strategy guides, while others are conjectural and are marked with an *.

Stages[edit]

The stage Hydriath is fought on changes slightly throughout the battle. In the first phase, he is fought on a straight, snow-covered platform, but in the second phase, he will pound the ground multiple times to make the stage collapse as he takes more damage, changing the layout as follows.

  • The first stage is straight. The left and right part are covered in snow, but the middle part of the stage is covered in ice, making the stage slippery.
  • The second stage is a snow-covered platform on which three slippery blocks of ice have fallen down, leaving two small gaps between each pair.
  • The third stage consists of a platform where the left and right third are covered in snow and the middle part is covered in ice, like the first stage. There are also three smaller blocks of ice that have fallen on the stage, creating an uneven terrain. Each of the walls on this stage has two small alcoves for Magolor to hide in.

Trivia[edit]

  • His facial hair and association with water may be inspired by the Greek god Poseidon.
