Melt and Glide! Race to the Cannon (Dragon Fire Treasure for short) is a stage in Treasure Road, found in Originull Wasteland. This stage tasks Kirby with completing a challenge revolving around the use of Dragon Fire, lighting a fuse and then racing it to the cannon while breaking the ice blocks in the way. The stage is unlocked after rescuing 16 Waddle Dees in Originull Wasteland. In order to play this stage, Kirby needs to have acquired the Dragon Fire ability. It is marked by three stars of difficulty and has a stage time of two minutes (one and a half minutes in Wild Mode), with a target time of one minute.

Stage details[edit]

This stage is broken into two distinct parts, though the second part is significantly longer than the first. In both parts, Kirby needs to light a fuse and then break the ice blocks on the fuse path so the light can reach the cannon and Kirby can then get blasted upwards. The second path features a much longer fuse that goes along a convoluted winding road chock-full of enemies, and all of the ice blocks in the way need to be removed while the fuse is burning along. Once Kirby reaches the second cannon and gets launched by it, the Rare Stone will be his.

Tips[edit]

The following are tips on how to attain the target time for this stage:

  • In order to reach the target time, Kirby will need to force the fuse to burn faster when he reaches the cannon. This can be done when the player holds down B (or Y in the second control style) while Kirby is in the cannon.
  • The target time for this stage is tight, so an optimal route for breaking the ice blocks will be needed, and Kirby will need to make good use of the dragon glide. It should also be kept in mind that the Dragon Fire breath has a very good reach.
  • When using Burn, Kirby should avoid gliding off the edge whenever possible, as it will be difficult for him to avoid falling into a bottomless pit.
  • If there is an ice block in a location other than where Kirby is aiming to go, he should use the Dragon Fire breath attack rather than Burn.
