Bernard is an enemy who is part of the Beast Pack and first appeared in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. He is a bipedal compact sheepdog-like enemy who wears an explorer's hat and carries a blunderbuss-like pistol. Bernard is usually seen either out in the open or hiding behind cover, popping out to shoot at Kirby when he gets within range. Bernard's projectiles can block most normal attacks from Kirby or Bandana Waddle Dee, so they are best avoided. Bernard can be defeated easily with most attacks, yielding a Star Coin on defeat, but can also be inhaled and swallowed for the Ranger Copy Ability.

Trivia

• Bernard is named after the St. Bernard, a dog breed notable for its bulky appearance and droopy lips and ears. St. Bernards are not naturally hunting dogs, which may be why Bernard wields a pistol, seeing as he resembles a hunter.
• During the cutscene where Fecto Forgo begins subsuming the Beast Pack after Leongar is defeated, Bernard's otherwise concealed eyes can be seen raised up in shock.
