Clocker[1] is a round dark-feathered crow-like creature with a bright orange beak and no visible eyes which can be seen holding up cages containing Waddle Dees and other things in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Clockers are employed by the Beast Pack to carry and capture creatures with their large metal cages, thus making them much stronger than they would otherwise seem. Silver cages that hold individual objects, such as a Waddle Dee or a red Star Coin, are held by a single Clocker, while gold cages at the end of stages are carried by three. Despite this role, Clockers are easily frightened off when Kirby approaches them, leaving the cage to be opened easily.

In addition to holding cages, Clockers are also deployed to ferry away King Dedede via ropes when he kidnaps Elfilin at the end of An Unexpected Beast King. They can also be seen without cages in some of the photos in the staff credits, where they roost on various things and carry Kirby and his friends around. There is also a red variety of Clocker which has a timer strapped to its front. Kirby needs to reach its cage before the timer runs out, or it will fly away.

Etymology[edit]

The name "Clocker" is likely derived from the words "crow" and "locker", rather than in specific reference to the red variants with "clocks". They are not formally named in most versions of the game, since they are not proper enemies, despite otherwise being featured prominently in figures, in gameplay, and in cutscenes. Their Japanese and English names were provided in the June 2022 issue of Nintendo DREAM magazine. However, the German and Italian versions give their localized name in-game, via the description for the "Captured Waddle Dees" figure.
