The 3D Helmet Cannon[1] is a carry item, first appearing in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, which allows the wearer to fire continuous shots into the background or the foreground, depending on which plane they are in.

The 3D Helmet Cannon resembles a hard hat, though it is blue and has a cannon extruding out of it like a head lamp. On the back, a little star insignia can be seen. Though it is worn like a hat, Kirby or King Dedede can take it off at any time and throw it like an item. The cannon, while worn, will fire shots continuously into a different plane from the one the wearer is situated in, allowing them to strike targets, enemies, and barriers in that plane. If used for too long, the 3D Helmet Cannon will start to grow unstable and turn red, and will break shortly thereafter.

This item is very similar to the Crackler, which can also be found in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, albeit only in the Kirby Fighters Sub-Game.

Locations

The 3D Helmet Cannon can be found in the following stages:

Trivia

  • The 3D Helmet Cannon was also planned to be included in Kirby: Planet Robobot, but was ultimately left out. It is still in the game's files, and is fully functional when summoned in the game using hacks.
  • There is a visual glitch that can be performed using the 3D Helmet Cannon, where Kirby can resume his normal walking stance and facing while using it. To perform this glitch, Kirby must first acquire the Bomb Copy Ability and then put on the helmet. If he then discards the ability while still using the helmet, his position will reset, and he can walk and jump normally, though shots from the cannon will still head toward the other plane as normal. It is not known why the Bomb ability in particular causes this to happen.
