Moretsu Pupupu Hour is set in its own continuity; however, its setting frequently overlaps with the game a given volume is released after. Most chapters are largely episodical, with few overarching storylines and occasional two-part stories. One exception to this is volume 13, which has several chapters set one after another dedicated to a loose retelling of Kirby: Planet Robobot.

Characters are often introduced as the games they make their debut in are released. Many become recurring (such as Magolor or Taranza), while others are mostly limited to cameo appearances at best (like Prince Fluff). The personalities of the characters are often exaggerated to an extreme (such as Kirby's gluttony or Meta Knight's ego and sense of rivalry). Naturally, characters that simply appear as common foes in the games are more fleshed out and given unique personality traits.

This manga series is no stranger to breaking the fourth wall, both directly (namely competing for the role of the manga's main character or refering to real-life game releases) and indirectly (for example, commenting on a battle's manga-like choreography).

It's an important day in Dream Land: the annual Great Eating Contest. The grand prize for the winner of this competition is chef Cookin's (questionably diverse) Dream Bowl. In preparation for the event, Dream Land's residents have been fasting the days prior; however, the carefree Kirby eats breakfast immediately before the start of the competition, much to the shock of his friend Cool Spook. The meal that the contestants will need to eat is revealed to be oden, which King Dedede explains to be one of the manga's author's favorite foods. Despite his breakfast, Kirby is more than ready to dig in. Just then, the Squeaks interrupt, with their leader Daroach announcing that  they will also participate under Storo's representation, as Daroach intends to get his hands on the one-of-a-kind Dream Bowl.

The contest begins, and the oden's soup proves to be too hot to eat. Kirby is not at all disheartened: he enjoys the soup as a hot tub while munching on oden. He farts in the oden bowl, causing all contestants except Storo to pass out. Once reminded about the Dream Bowl, Kirby gets serious and gains the Fighter ability, enabling his fighting spirit to devour more oden. The Squeaks are concerned that Storo will lose, but Daroach explains that he was simply a decoy to distract the audience, and they prepare to steal the Dream Bowl. However, their escape is sabotaged due to Fighter Kirby's long headband getting stuck to the Dream Bowl, which results in him getting dragged along. The Squeaks are blown away when Kirby releases the headband. Kirby runs back with the Dream Bowl, but by the time he's back, Storo is announced as the winner. Daroach gloats, but then finds the Dream Bowl to have been emptied by Kirby, who ate its contents on the way because he got hungry.

On a peaceful day in Dream Land, Daroach and the Squeaks announce the opening of Dream Land's first convenience store, "Daroach's Eleven". The excited Kirby is quick to see it for himself — and fail to eat it, too. Cool Spook and Box Boxer find the thieves' shop sketchy, and it is revealed through Daroach's denying to be part of their plan to get rich fast. Meanwhile, Kirby devours food inside the store. Given that he has no money to pay for it, he is instead forced to work as a clerk for what he ate.

Much to the Squeaks joy, the shop quickly becomes popular and attracts many residents, including King Dedede, for whom Kirby eats up a lunch box with the Fire ability. During the lunch hours, the Squeaks restock the shop while Kirby takes a nap with the Sleep ability. After some time, Spinni points out that the shop is failing to attract any new clients because of Kirby's dangerous use of Copy Abilities. To resolve this, Kirby goes outside and does tricks with the Magic ability while advertising the shop. After many rough days of advertising under harsh weather, it finally works, and the shop is full of customers again. While cleaning, Storo reports that the vacuum cleaner is broken. Kirby steps in and starts inhaling; but, naturally, he ends up inhaling too much and emptying the shelves, which leaves the Squeaks devastated.

Winter is in full swing in Dream Land. After the failure of the convenience store, Daroach and his gang have started a snow cleaning service in hopes of buying themselves warm coats. Just then, Kirby runs by, commenting on how warm it is. The Squeaks beg to know his secret, which he reveals to be a full-body wool coat that looks just like him. At that time, King Dedede, Box Boxer and Cool Spook invite Kirby to play some games together. This sparks an idea in Daroach's mind: he suggests racing to the lodge on the nearby mountain top to stay warm. At first reluctant, King Dedede decides that it'd be a good idea to participate to boost his prestige and appearance count over the Squeaks, who have had a larger role in the manga so far. With this in mind, he accepts, unaware that it's part of the Squeaks' plan to ease the snow cleaning job they were comissioned there. In the meantime, Ice Kirby makes ice sculptures of Daroach and King Dedede.

The race begins, and Wheel Kirby quickly plows through the competition, as well as a group of Chillys on their way to prepare winter-themed calendars. Kirby halts in the snow, and Pengy notices him. While Pengy is concerned that Kirby might freeze if he stays still in the snow, Kirby is instead contemplating eating the abundant snow as shaved ice. As the unamused Pengy walks off, Kirby decides to quickly inhale the snow and make a run for the lodge. However, after inhaling it all, Kirby realizes that he is as hungry as ever and collapses. Meanwhile, the heated race continues. The group eventually runs into Kirby, who is laying face down in the snow. Seeing no movement, they mourn the puffball. However, they find that it was just another of Kirby's full-body coats, and Kirby already reached the lodge, which is revealed to be Pengy's home. Pengy then tells the group that they need to clean the snow from the roof. Seeing that the lodge's roof has no snow on it, the Squeaks question this, only to find out that the actual house is much larger and mostly under the visible part, buried under a mountain of snow. Everyone ends up digging through the heaps snow, and only Kirby finds this activity fun.

It's another peaceful day in Dream Land. An excited Kirby runs over to his friends with the first copy of his new game after having waited a whole month in line. He is so happy that he is irradiating a contagiously positive aura. In contrast, Knuckle Joe notices that King Dedede is irradiating a strong negative aura because the game shop was out of copies of the game when he got there. Despite Batty's persistent attempts to console him with the prospect of the next shipment, King Dedede is impatient. He sees that Kirby has a copy and confronts him. Their auras clash and materialize into forces resembling their sources. A crowd gathers to watch, but the spectacle soon ends, as the aura quickly drains both Kirby and King Dedede.
King Dedede inquires how Kirby got his copy. While he respects Kirby's patience, he is frank about not having any himself. He chases after Kirby with his hammer ready to strike. Kirby retaliates by using the Cutter ability to slash down a tree, which falls onto King Dedede. When he gets up, he hits Kirby with a Slide attack. Kirby drops a case, which King Dedede soon discovers to be one of Meta Knight's music CDs. Kirby runs off with the copy of the game, leaving his rival dejected. Later at Box Boxer's house, Kirby finally plays the game, Kirby's Epic Yarn, on his friend's Wii, since he doesn't have a console of his own. Meanwhile, King Dedede and Batty listen to Meta Knight's song on a CD player on loop, and they disheartenedly agree to wait for the next shipment.

It's winter in Dream Land, so Knuckle Joe offers to have a snowball fight. Kirby immediately creates a snowball dozens of times his size, where King Dedede ends up getting stuck. Kirby throws the snowball out to the cosmos. In space, Marx is itching to cause destruction when he sees the snowball coming his way. Irritated, he kicks it back to Popstar. Meanwhile, Kirby's friends bombard Kirby with snowballs. At first he runs away, but then he inhales them all amd spits them back. Knuckle Joe retreats to a makeshift igloo where Box Boxer and Cool Spook are having mochi, deciding that a snowball fight against Kirby is unwinnable in the first place. While Kirby runs after the rest of his friends, the snowball Marx kicked back lands on him, flattening Kirby. Marx inquires who made this snowball, and soon receives an answer from the flattened Kirby, who invites Marx to the snowball fight. Having no better passtime anyway, Marx accepts under the condition that he will destroy Dream Land if he wins.
With the stakes high and Box Boxer and Cool Spook now commentating, the snowball fight begins. Kirby uses the Yo-Yo ability to lift his giant snowball and toss it at Marx. Marx forms his own giant mass of snow which clashes with Kirby's, hitting King Dedede from both sides. Kirby is hit by Marx's mass of snow and uses his Yo-Yo to recover his snowball. However, when he rears it in, it appears that he grabbed the moon instead. He smacks Marx on the head with it, then Marx bowls it up a mountain in Kirby's direction. Kirby and Marx kick the moon back and forth, wrecking everything in its path. The fight devolves into hand-to-hand combat. As Marx repeats his threat to destroy Dream Land, Box Boxer points out that is was always destroyed as a result of their fight. An angry mob chases after the two, so they decide to put off their fight. The worn down King Dedede is finally freed from the giant snowball and declared the winner for sheer perserverance.

It's a windy day in Dream Land. Despite the fierce wind, Meta Knight is out training. As he strikes a pose in self-praise, a strong gust knocks off his mask. He chases after and searches for it. Just then, he sees Kirby and his friends setting up camp. Noticing a toilet stall, he decides to wrap his face up in toilet paper as a temporary substitute. He comes to the camp site and asks the group if they've seen his mask. Despite his voice indicating his identity, Kirby's friends fail to recognize him in the makeshift cover. After he tries to explain that he's Meta Knight, Kirby assumes his name to be "Matt A. Nite".<!--[CHECK JP NAME TO COMPARE]-->
Kirby invites "Matt" to lunch. Meta Knight initially refuses, but then notices that the plate with the meat is his mask. He dashes for it but is stopped by Knuckle Joe, who insists that the share is 3 pieces of meat each, while Box Boxer believes "Matt" to be a meat thief. Meta Knight waits for the last piece of meat to be taken and rushes for the mask again, only for Kirby to place noodles on it. Suddenly, it begins to rain. A nearby cliff threatens to collapse on Kirby, who is guarding the noodles with his life. Equally concerned about his mask as Kirby is about the noodles, as well as worried about the toilet paper dissolving, Meta Knight tosses Kirby a tupperware to store the noodles and dashes in. The cliff collapses on them. However, Meta Knight, now in his mask again, slashes through the debris. He tells Kirby that "Matt" was already sent home. Saddened, Kirby says that he wanted to share the noodles with "Matt", so he asks Meta Knight to bring them to him. Meta Knight promises for him and Kirby to meet again for a fateful duel. As they part ways, Meta Knight wonders if he should have the noodles for dinner.

It is spring in Dream Land, a season of hopes and new beginnings. Kirby tearfully announces that he is moving on from being the main character of Moretsu Pupupu Hour, thanking everyone for the fun times they've had together and running off. His friends are devastated, but their grief is cut short when a new character enters the scene: "Miss K". King Dedede immediately suspects her to be Kirby. "Miss K" announces that she'll be the new main character and hopes for the support of the rest, including in the form of food. The disguised Box Boxer, acting has her manager, advertises her as a perfect fit for the series. King Dedede is shocked to discover that everyone buys this story and cheers for "Miss K". "Miss K" quickly becomes a celebrity, releasing albums, appearing on television and at concerts, and signing autographs (although the latter ends in Kirby stuffing himself with the edible presents). When King Dedede tries to convince the rest that "Miss K" is just Kirby in a dress, he's chased off by her fan club.
King Dedede comes to miss Kirby the way he used to be. But one day, he finds Box Boxer sorting through the abundant money he and his friend made. Through their conversation, King Dedede gets an undeniable confirmation that "Miss K" is indeed Kirby. Box Boxer hands Kirby a script of trendy lines to say to the audience. King Dedede enters with a whack at Kirby and confronts the two, threatening to tell the truth to the "Miss K" fan club. Giving in, Kirby and Box Boxer settle for a compromise. On the same stage as the on where Kirby gave his initial farewell speech, "Miss K" announces that she's leaving the position of main character of Moretsu Pupupu Hour. When her fan club starts crying, she throws out her handkerchief and, when the crowd starts fighting for it, other pieces of her clothing until there's nothing left. Finally seeing through the ruse, the crowd anrgily chases after Kirby and Box Boxer.

On a day like any other in Dream Land, Kirby, King Dedede and company go on a trip to the Dream Land Plateau. Box Boxer yells into the distance to hear the echo. Kirby imitates this and has a conversation with the echo. Meanwhile, Magolor is watching the clouds in the sky and notices a cake-shaped one. Hearing his remark, Kirby immediately goes to devour it, but finds it tasteless. He decides to cover the cloud cake with chocolate syrup. Contrary to what Magolor's remarks and common sense imply, the cake becomes tastier, so the two feast on the cloud cake together. However, a soccer ball kicked by Knuckle Joe accidentally hits Kirby and rolls off. Kirby retrieves the ball — or so was the intention, as he instead brings the moon down. As he kicks it as the soccer ball towards his horrified friends, Box Boxer prepares lunch. Hearing this, Kirby immediately downs the whole picnic.
King Dedede, who is also having lunch, sees Kirby approaching from a distance. Box Boxer pinches the king about Kirby being the one to steal food, for once, referencing a previous story. After Kirby and King Dedede snatch the food from each other<!--King Dedede uses a Slide-->, the latter's minions surround him to protect the food, but Kirby doesn't back down. He inhales a nearby Hot Head to gain the Fire ability. His attack is blocked by Simirror, leaving an opening for King Dedede to escape. However, King Dedede runs over to the edge of a cliff and falls off. Kirby catches him midair, concerned about the food he is holding. The lunchbox conveniently gets stuck in Kirby's mouth, so friends and foes alike use the opportunity to have a meal with Kirby as the table. Once they're finished, Kirby finally gulps down the empty lunchbox, finding it delicious.

On a summer day in Dream Land, Kirby is bug catching. He catches a rhinocerous beetle, which he adds to his collection, praised by Cool Spook. As Kirby decides to write about it in his summer diary, he realizes that he caught a bug the day before, and the day before that, and so on. In a moment of existential crisis, he decides to find some other activities at the beach in order to fill the diary with more interesting memories. He sees King Dedede at a barbeque and decides to help out by using the Fire ability; however, all the food is scorched. Kirby happily comments on it to Cool Spook, oblivious to the destruction he's caused. During his stroll, he sees Daroach and the Squeaks splitting a watermelon, so he chimes in by eating the entire watermelon from the inside, considering it gifted to him.
On his way home, Kirby and Cool Spook hear a wind chime hanging from a chime and sit under it. However, the flies soon get on their nerves, so for an alternative way to chill, Kirby decides to visit the Chillys, who are hiding from the heat in their ice-filled home. As the day nears the end, Kirby leaves the Chillys' house and sees Meta Knight training at the graveyard. When he finds out Meta Knight is fighting his fear of ghosts, he decides to help out by showing up with his Ghost copy ability. At first it seems Meta Knight has no reaction at all, but Cool Spook realizes that he is petrified from fear.
Kirby and Cool Spook continue their trip as Kirby continues writing in his summer diary. However, Marx overhears them and snatches the diary from Kirby. During their scuffle, he manages to read it all and gets bored when he reaches the many bug catching pages, so he tosses the diary away in a way that it ends up landing in the puddle, leaving it completely illegible. Kirby is absolutely devastated and tries to keep himself put by saying he can simply write down memories from scratch again. Cool Spook cheers him up by pointing at a new event to create bright memories at: the Dream Land Summer Festival. The rest of Kirby's friends meet him there, and everyone has fun at the festival. Kirby is certain the diary will be full by the end of that night.

During a stroll in Dream Land with his friends, Kirby finds a rock and decides to kick it all the way home. He maneuvers through the town, skillfully dodging everyone and grabbing their food while he's at it, which angers the residents. Later down the road, Kirby and his friends run into Marx. Seeing Kirby's fixation, Marx kicks the rock away from him, and a fight between him and Fighter Kirby ensues. Kirby shields the rock, so Marx prepares to fire off a powerful attack. Kirby refuses to let go of the rock; however, a timely pun from Box Boxer quite freezes Marx up, thus saving Kirby.

It's another peaceful day in Dream Land. Kirby's friends notice that he's coughing, and Kirby explains that something is stuck in his throat. When clearing it, Kirby ends up spitting out an entire school, which he imhaled whole when having lunch. The bell rings, prompting Kirby to run to the school and begin the lesson as the teacher with his friends as the students. However, he announces that all the periods as lunch time. King Dedede smacks Kirby while pointing this out and sees that Kirby appears to be crying. However, when he apologizes, Kirby laughs: the liquid is actually milk running out of his nose.
The class is rambunctious, and King Dedede wants to transfer after seeing that many of the students are final bosses. Maths class begins, and Kirby demonstrates the subject by inhaling a pile of ten apples. The class freaks out when they're unable to answer how many apples are left. Kirby also panicks, as there's only four pages left to finish the chapter. He decides to start the graduation ceremony right away with a tearful speech, reminiscing about fun times they've never actually had at the school. Kirby announces that they've graduated from licking the lids of ice cream cups. Then, the school disappears into thin air, and Kirby says he has something stuck in his throat again.

This page is a hub for information about the Kirby of the Stars! Moretsu Pupupu Hour! manga series. Due to WiKirby's currently abysmal manga coverage, the project will take long, and may be disorganized. It heavily depends on existing translations or the ability of editors to work with Japanese text.

Series overview[edit]

Click "expand" to view contents

Characters[edit]

 • Note: playful writing used. This is a rough overview, not a mainspace-ready draft. Need to sort by chronology when possible.
 • Kirby: gluttonous to an extreme, playful and often takes threats on a more minor scale lightly. Cares deeply for his friends and stands up for Dream Land when things get dire. Can use his Copy Ability at will besides inhaling. Physical difference: has a singular fang.
 • King Dedede: ruler of Dream Land, Kirby's nemesis, with whom he often fights for food. Relatively unexaggerated traits, with the exception of his ego.
 • Meta Knight: masked swordsman and Kirby's rival, prides himself on skill and elegance. Ego and quirks often grotesquely exaggerated.
 • Marx: mischievous alien who plots to take over or destroy Dream Land, depending on his mood, often just picks a fight with Kirby for petty reasons. Has hands.
 • Box Boxer: laid-back and accepting of Kirby's plot armor, his bad puns and jokes stun just about everyone.
 • Knuckle Joe
 • Cool Spook
 • Chilly
 • Paint Roller
 • Gao Gao
 • Daroach
 • Galacta Knight
 • Magolor
 • Taranza
 • Queen Sectonia
 • Susie
 • Mr. Frosty: one of Dream Land's residents. While he can occasionally be seen partaking in the same activities as others, he usually appears as a seller, taking on a new job as the plot demands.
 • Chip and Snooter, almost always seen together and in the background, either outdoors in Dream Land or on television.
 • Many, many more, need to split roles.

Chapter 1: Fierce Battle!! The Great Eating Contest!![edit]

The start of a new adventure.

Main characters:

Supporting/minor characters:

Chapter 2: Go!! Daroach's Eleven[edit]

A grand meal awaits.

The name of this chapter is a reference to the American heist film Ocean's 11.

Main characters:

Supporting/minor characters:

Cameo:

Chapter 3: Kirby!! Undress! Undress![edit]

Kirby and his friends enjoy some mochi in an igloo.

Main characters:

Supporting/minor characters:

Cameo:

 • Con (book cover)

Cameos:

 • Daroach (cover, pinball board)
 • Doc (cover, pinball board)
 • Spinni (cover, pinball board)

On an autumn day, Kirby has Box Boxer pose with an apple for a painting. Cool Spook admires Kirby's artwork, which turns out to be an illustration of just the apple. Suddenly, Gao Gao comes running, informing Kirby that Castle Dedede is in trouble. At the castle, Drawcia traps King Dedede and his subordinates in paintings, plotting to transform Dream Land into her masterpiece once more. When Kirby arrives, he begins admiring the paintings of Castle Dedede's residents and scribbles on King Dedede's painting. Drawcia threatens Kirby with her Magic Paintbrush but realizes that Kirby already took it and is drawing a copy of himself, which comes to life.

Preparing for battle, Kirby draws a bunch of food that he eats on the spot, while Drawcia snatches back her paintbrush and showers Kirby in bombs. Kirby manages to take the paintbrush back and makes a kebab missile that strikes Drawcia. However, she recovers the brush since Kirby threw it together with the missile, and she draws a cage over Kirby. All seems lost as Drawcia gloats until Kirby jumps out of nowhere and steals the paintbrush again, revealing that the Kirby in the cage is the copy he drew earlier. Kirby draws a lightning bolt over Drawcia and finishes her off with a storm. This frees the residents of Castle Dedede. King Dedede solemnly thanks Kirby for rescuing them, unaware that the scribbles Kirby drew earlier are still a part of his look.

Chapter 8: Meta Knight Causes a Commotion![edit]

Main characters:

Supporting/minor characters:

Cameos:

A new year starts in Dream Land, and its residents are ready to spend it as lazily as the last. Gao Gao spots a meteorite headed for Dream Land with a telescope and runs off to warn the rest. Meanwhile, Meta Knight arrives on the Halberd, setting out to put an end to Dream Land's lazy lifestyle (not unlike a similar story in Kirby Super Star). Kirby seconds Meta Knight's thoughts on laziness but is quick to display it himself, reading manga under a table. The rest join him, and Meta Knight makes an over-the-top dramatic speech about the inelegance of their manga. Meta Knight proclaims that he will be the new protagonist of the manga and asks for a duel with Kirby for the main spot. Kirby ignores this request until Meta Knight discloses that his own manga will enforce discipline at a school, limit others to only playing Meta Knightmare Ultra in Kirby Super Star Ultra, and have the other characters worship him. Dream Land's residents decide that it's best for Kirby to keep his position as the main character and view Meta Knight as unfit for the protagonist role.

At that moment, Bouncy passes by, carrying a load of apples. Wishing to prove himself, Meta Knight offers to help her with the load and lifts her and the apples. Kirby offers to help lighten up the load in another way by inhaling the apples. Meta Knight starts scolding Kirby, but Bouncy thanks him since she would have been unavle to finish the leftover apples by herself. The shocked Meta Knight is made the subject of ridicule by the rest. Just then, Gao Gao arrives with the news about the meteorite. Meta Knight initially wants to heroically stop it, but thinks about the things Dream Land's residents said, as well as Kirby's typically goofy behavior. He follows his rival's example and performs a folk rhyme, leading the rest to think he cracked under pressure. Kirby comes to the rescue with the Jet ability and stops the meteorite in its tracks. Everyone cheers for Kirby, and Meta Knight realizes that selfless heroism is the true trait of a main protagonist, only for him to take his words back when he hears Kirby's relief that the book he had been reading is unscathed. He gets frustrated because no one else hears Kirby's selfish remark.

After Kirby and King Dedede snatch the food from each other, the latter's minions surround him to protect the food, but Kirby doesn't back down.
