The Wii is a seventh-generation console released by Nintendo in late 2006 as the successor to the Nintendo GameCube and the predecessor to the Wii U. Its most notable feature is its control system, which includes motion sensitivity and point-and-click features, alongside backwards compatiblity with GameCube accessories (later on removed in newer models outside of Japan). Three Kirby games were released for it, Kirby's Epic Yarn being the first, followed by Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition. Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a game that features Kirby characters, was also made for this system.

Wii Message Board[edit]

The Wii Message Board is a feature of the Wii in which the player is given letters upon certain events occurring in games. Each letter is pinned to the date in which they were received. Aside from the play time being featured in the white envelope for every game when they are played, the only Kirby game to utilize this feature of the Wii in the form of unique letters is Kirby's Epic Yarn. However, the Kirby TV Channel can also send messages to the message board when new episodes of Kirby: Right Back at Ya! become available.

Photo Album[edit]

You can take a picture of the Area screen from the pause menu by selecting Take Picture, and then you can send photos you've taken to the Wii Message Board.
— Kirby's Epic Yarn instruction manual, page 21

The Photo Album[1], simply referred to as the Album in game, is a feature accessed through the pause menu where the player is able to view up to 10 screenshots saved through gameplay. These images can be taken anywhere outside of a stage via the Take Photo option in the pause menu. Additionally, the player has the option to send photos to the Wii Message Board. The screenshot captures only a part of the current visible screen, attempting to be centered on Kirby without going outside of the visible screen.

The letter received features a special light-blue envelope with a navy lining and a star shaped seal, as well as a special light blue letter background with a navy border and a thick navy header space with Kirby and Prince Fluff on stars in the top corners. The header of the letter simply says "Kirby's Epic Yarn". The contents of the letter includes the image at the top right in which the player may select to view it in full size, as well as three lines of text. The first line is the day the letter was received, the second line is the location the photo was taken, and the third line is the closest applicable character the photo was taken with. If there are multiple characters present, the one chosen is the closest one to the center of the image.

Co-Subject Text Notes
Kirby (solo) Nice Photo! Kirby is featured in every photo, even if the second player takes the photo through the pause menu, since the photo will always be centered around Kirby. When there is no applicable secondary subject, this is the text it returns.
Prince Fluff You took a picture with Fluff. Prince Fluff's name is shortened to Fluff in this instance, likely because his name would be cut off and wrap to the 4th line if this were not the case.
Dom Woole You took a picture with Dom Woole.

You took a picture with ???.

It is possible for Dom Woole's name to be "???" via a glitch where the player can skip Dom Woole's cutscene, thus being able to take a picture with him before his name is given.
Chaise Woole You took a picture with Chaise Woole.

You took a picture with ???.

It is possible to stand close enough to Chaise Woole without activating the shop unlocking cutscene, thus being able to take a picture with him before his name is given.

Because of the length of his name, the period at the end will be wrapped to a 4th line of text.

Loomis Woole You took a picture with Loomis Woole.

You took a picture with ???.

It is possible to stand close enough to Loomis Woole without activating the shop unlocking cutscene, thus being able to take a picture with him before his name is given.

Because of the length of his name, the e at the end of his name and the period will be wrapped to a 4th line of text.

Zeke You took a picture with Zeke. Zeke can be caught in a picture in Apartment 102 or when they decide to visit Kirby's Pad.
Beadrix You took a picture with Beadrix. Beadrix can be caught in a picture in Apartment 201 or when they decide to visit Kirby's Pad.
Carrie You took a picture with Carrie. Carrie can be caught in a picture in Apartment 202 or when they decide to visit Kirby's Pad.
Buster You took a picture with Buster. Buster can be caught in a picture in Apartment 301 or when they decide to visit Kirby's Pad.
Mara You took a picture with Mara. Mara can be caught in a picture in Apartment 302 or when they decide to visit Kirby's Pad.

Appearances in the Kirby series[edit]

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, the staff credits for Extra Mode has icons of Kirby that match the roles of the developers shown. The icon for "Testing" shows Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee playing together with Wii Remotes.
