Super Kirby Clash is a free-to-start spin-off game in the Kirby series released for the Nintendo Switch on September 4th, 2019 worldwide. It is a successor to Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, which was itself an expanded version of the Kirby: Planet Robobot Sub-Game Team Kirby Clash. Super Kirby Clash is exclusively downloadable from the Nintendo eShop, and as such, no physical copy of the game exists.
Like its two predecessors, Super Kirby Clash is centered around battles with monsters in a role-playing game setting, with four different roles to switch between. Each role has specific strengths and weaknesses and is based on a Copy Ability from the main series. Each role can also utilize different equipment that can be purchased from an in-game store using currency that can be purchased using real-world currency via in-game micro-transactions. This in-game currency is also used to unlock subsequent fights with enemies, along with other purposes.

In response, four small round heroes gather and form a team that bears their collective names; Team Kirby. With encouragement from Bandana Waddle Dee and with equipment from Magolor's Shoppe, Team Kirby beat back the monsters one-by-one, starting with Hornhead at the Seaside. Eventually, they encounter the nightmarish wizard in the Ruins and duel him. Although they seem to have won the battle, the nightmare escaped and flew beyond the Volcano, heading toward the cloudy Empyrean. Team Kirby pursues him, defeating more monsters along the way.
At the Empyrean, Team Kirby spot what they believe to be the nightmare wizard, but instead, it turns out to be Taranza, the puppeteer mage. Due to the misunderstanding, they fight, but Team Kirby prevails. Upon realizing that they have the wrong mage, Team Kirby proceeds to the Decisive Battlefield where they corner the Parallel Nightmare. In a last-ditch attempt to stop Team Kirby, he summons the dreaded King D-Mind from a portal, but the enraged king turns on the wizard and bats him away with a hammer. Regardless, Team Kirby must contend with this great and evil king to send him back from whence he came.

Team Kirby jump back into the action and discover that Parallel Nightmare had not been vanquished. They pursue him to an otherworldly realm called the Dreamscape and defeat him once again. Parallel Nightmare falls back and uses another portal to call a mysterious angelic swordsman to crush Team Kirby, but the swordsman slays the wizard before engaging the Kirbys. After the fight of a lifetime, Team Kirby manages to defeat the Aeon Hero and finally restore permanent peace to the kingdom.

Four heroes named Kirby set out to do battle with various giant monsters in order to gain experience and save the Dream Kingdom. Combat plays out exactly as it does in the main series, except that there is no opportunity to discard abilities or change them during battle. The player has control over one Kirby, with the other three being controlled either by the CPU or by other players. The objective in each battle is to defeat the enemy monster by attacking it repeatedly, and avoiding getting K.O.'d in the process. The enemy is large and moves slowly for the most part, but has a large array of moves which can deal high damage, cover a large portion of the battlefield, or both. To avoid enemy attacks, each Kirby has access to the jump, hover, guard, and dodge techniques, and damage taken can be healed using food items that drop and from Doctor Healmore's Healing Area technique. During the battle, Team Kirby has the opportunity to collect shards of the Team Meteor. If all four Kirbys collect them, they can launch a special attack that deals huge damage to the enemy and stuns them for a long time. Once an enemy is defeated (or if Team Kirby loses), the results are calculated, and the player is rewarded with a resulting amount of experience (which doubles as the score) and a corresponding Medal from bronze to platinum.
Outside of combat, the player must manage the equipment and resources of Team Kirby. To pay for new equipment and other items, Team Kirby must earn Gem Apples and Fragments which are obtained from defeating enemies, completing Heroic Missions, and performing other tasks in the village. Equipment is bought at Magolor's Shoppe where the player can also pay for more Gem Apples if they so desire. Additionally, Gem Apples are used for many things outside of currency, such as skipping wait time for various mechanics, unlocking new encounters, and saving Team Kirby from defeat in a battle.

Super Kirby Clash features local and online multiplayer, being the second in the whole Kirby series (after Kirby Battle Royale) to feature full online support. Battles are separated into Story Quests and Party Quests, with online multiplayer occupying the latter category. The player can choose to either host or join a lobby where a specific enemy encounter has been chosen. From there, they have the opportunity to equip their Kirby (and any CPUs under the player's jurisdiction) and communicate with other players using stickers before confirming everyone's ready to start. During | During quests, players can continue to communicate with each-other using stickers. Much like other games with online play, latency can be an issue between players, causing the game to slow down or delay inputs to varying extents. If any player disconnects during a quest, it ends automatically with no reward gained. As soon as the enemy is defeated, players are disconnected from each other, so no post-battle communication is possible (though Stickers can still be vainly used in the brief window during the enemy's defeat animation). If the entire team is defeated during a quest or time runs out, each player is given the opportunity to use their own Gem Apples to continue the battle or not. Heroic Missions are tracked separately for Party Quests, and it is still possible for the player to play these alone or via Share Play if they wish.

Similar to Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Super Kirby Clash gives players the ability to enter passwords via the Shrine of Passwords in the village to get items such as Gem Apples and Fragments. These passwords are provided via external services such as the Nintendo Switch News Channel or the various official Twitter accounts belonging to Nintendo or HAL Laboratory. Most passwords come from the Kirby JP Twitter, and are not region exclusive, meaning Japanese passwords can be used on English copies of the game and vice-versa. Passwords continued to be issued for almost two-and-a-half years after the game's release, with the final password being issued on February 15th, 2022. All issued passwords can be found on this page.

==Update history== | |||
This is the third Kirby series game to get periodic updates, but unlike prior Kirby games, the changes introduced to Super Kirby Clash are minimal and don't really affect the gameplay experience as a whole. Unless noted otherwise, the most recent version needs to be installed in order to play online with others and is impossible to play local wireless with others who own an older version of the game.
===Version 1.0.0=== | |||
The default version, released on September 4, 2019.
===Version 1.0.1=== | |||
The current version released on September 20, 2019. The only major change was to fix a problem that prevented Nintendo Switch Online subscribers from obtaining 100 Gem Apples.

“ | An action game in which four Kirbys with different abilities take on quests together. In addition to the single-player mode, enjoy multiplayer via online and couch co-op play. | ” | — Past Adventures section in Kirby's Dream Buffet and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe |
Story[edit]
“ | Long, long ago, in a faraway realm, there was a beautiful, peaceful land called the Dream Kingdom. One surprising day, Hornhead went on a rampage across the Seaside. And so it came to pass that Team Kirby set off on an adventure to restore peace to the kingdom... | ” | — Opening cutscene text from Super Kirby Clash |
Once upon a time in the Dream Kingdom, a villainous masked sorcerer from another realm began stirring up trouble, causing huge monsters to rampage throughout the land.
At first, this defeat brought peace and order back to the Dream Kingdom, but before long, monsters began to rampage once again, even more powerful than ever before.
Gameplay[edit]
Super Kirby Clash plays much like its predecessors Team Kirby Clash and Team Kirby Clash Deluxe.
Roles[edit]
There are four roles to choose from, each with separate equipment to purchase. Kirbys can take on multiples of the same role if they wish:
- Sword Hero - A front-line role based on Sword. Can protect his friends with a bubble shield.
- Hammer Lord - A powerhouse role based on Hammer. Very slow on his feet, but can dish out huge damage.
- Doctor Healmore - A supporting role based on Doctor. Has the power to heal his allies and himself.
- Beam Mage - A supporting role based on Beam. Has the power to stop time if he hits the enemy enough times with the Time Beam move.
All four roles can use a Revival Spell on their fallen teammates in battle given enough time to do so, but Doctor Healmore is the most effective. Each role has distinct base stats which increase as the team increases in level. For more detailed information on the numbers, check the respective role pages.
Shoppe[edit]
- Main article: Magolor's Shoppe
Just like in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Shopkeeper Magolor runs a shoppe in the Village. Here is where all equipment is purchased using collected Gem Apples and various types of fragments. The Shoppe has five primary categories of things to purchase, as follows:
- Weapons - Various weapons for Team Kirby to equip which cost Gem Apples and fragments.
- Armor - Headgear for Team Kirby to equip which cost Gem Apples and fragments.
- Support Items - Extra items which augment the team in various ways from applying a temporary boost to adding a permanent bonus; these only cost Gem Apples.
- Stickers - Cosmetic icons that the player can use to communicate with other players online which cost Gem Apples.
- Gem Apples - The player can buy up to 5000 Gem Apples using the Nintendo eShop, which also causes the Gem Apple tree in the village to grow. Unlike Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, once the tree is at its biggest, the player can still purchase Gem Apples, but the tree won't grow anymore if they do so.
Online play[edit]
Super Kirby Clash features local and online multiplayer, being the second in the whole Kirby series (after Kirby Battle Royale) to feature full online support. Battles are separated into Story Quests and Party Quests, with online and local wireless multiplayer occupying the latter category. The player can choose to either host or join a lobby where a specific enemy encounter has been chosen. From there, they have the opportunity to equip their Kirby (and any CPUs under the player's jurisdiction) and communicate with other players using stickers before confirming everyone's ready to start. Regardless of whether everyone is ready or not, a game will begin 90 seconds after the lobby has been created. From there, they enter the battle and must work together to overcome the foe.
During quests, players can continue to communicate with each-other using stickers.
One thing to note is that once players enter a lobby, they may not leave early unless the game is closed, nor may players leave through any in-game method while a quest is in progress.
amiibo functionality[edit]
Super Kirby Clash allows for amiibo to be utilized in the village to earn more fragments. To the left of the Shoppe is a bronze Kirby statue which serves as the player's interface to scan amiibo. A Kirby series amiibo will net 20 fragments, while a different series amiibo will net 5. Kirby series Super Smash Bros. amiibo are worth 10 fragments. There is also a small chance each time an amiibo is scanned that a Rare Fragment will be given out. Only 5 distinct amiibo figurines can be used per 24 hour period.
Adventurers[edit]
- Main article: Adventurer Bell
Like its predecessor, Kirby can call Kirby representatives from other players' games to assist him in battle as CPUs - this time by ringing the Adventurer Bell in the village. When the bell is rung, Team Kirby also gains some material bonuses in the form of fragments and gem apples. The bell can only be rung once every 24 hours unless Gem Apples are consumed to speed up the process.
Heroic Missions[edit]
- Main article: Heroic Mission (Super Kirby Clash)
This game features 900 distinct Heroic Missions, which effectively serve as an achievement system for the game. Completing Heroic Missions rewards the player with additional Gem Apples and Rare Fragments, and also adds to the Heroic Rank (a number which reflects a number of missions completed). Unlike its predecessor, reaching specific ranks is necessary to increase the maximum level that Team Kirby can reach, with each milestone increasing that level by 10.
Passwords[edit]
- Main article: List of passwords in Super Kirby Clash
Enemies[edit]
Super Kirby Clash features 33 distinct enemies to fight, though some of these are variants of each other. Most of these foes are fought many times in distinct Quests, with each subsequent battle giving them new and/or quicker attacks, as well as greatly increasing their damage and health. Many of these foes are also fought in tag-teams with other foes, with only the final enemy being fought in two phases.
The following table lists every unique enemy in Super Kirby Clash. Note that the number of encounters includes those where the enemy is partnered with others and also includes battles with a powered-up version ("EX" and "Revenge") of the same enemy.

The following enemies which appeared in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe do not appear in this game:
Quests[edit]
Super Kirby Clash divides its battles into six different difficulty categories (Normal, Tough, Tougher, Toughest, Super, and Super+) and spreads them out across eight themed regions. In addition, two separate quest categories exist (referred to as Story Quests and Party Quests). Story Quests can be played either alone or locally with friends on a single Switch system, but Party Quests allow for Multiplayer (both online and local wireless), though these can also be done solo if the player wishes. Playing Party Quests online grants Team Kirby extra experience and material gains, and also cuts Vigor requirements in half.
The following tables outline each encounter in each region as lain out once all encounters are unlocked. Story Quests and Party Quests are divided into separate tables:
Seaside[edit]
|
Dunes[edit]
|
Ruins[edit]
|
Volcano[edit]
|
Empyrean[edit]
|
Decisive Battlefield[edit]
|

Cameo appearances[edit]
As the player makes progress through the game, more and more characters will appear in the Village. These characters cannot be interacted with, and are effectively cameo appearances. The following characters appear at the following milestones:
Port Village[edit]
- Coo - Appears after clearing the Ignite Edge Story Quest. Flies back and forth in the air above the Village.

Update history[edit]
This is the third Kirby series game to get periodic updates, but unlike prior Kirby games, the changes introduced to Super Kirby Clash are minimal and don't really affect the gameplay experience as a whole. Unless noted otherwise, the most recent version needs to be installed in order to play online with others and is impossible to play local wireless with others who own an older version of the game.
Version 1.0.0[edit]
The default version, released on September 4, 2019.
Version 1.0.1[edit]
The current version released on September 20, 2019. The only major change was to fix a problem that prevented Nintendo Switch Online subscribers from obtaining 100 Gem Apples.[1]

Nintendo eShop description[edit]
Power through bosses on a team of four!
To defeat bosses this wicked, it’ll take a whole team of Kirbys! In this free-to-start multiplayer action game, you can choose from four unique Roles and join up to three other players to take down tough bosses. Puff up your power by crafting weapons and spending materials at the shop to receive even MORE weapons, not to mention armor and items. Pass a Joy-Con™ controller to a friend to play locally, and if you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can even play online!
Are you a Sword Hero? Hammer Lord? Beam Mage? Or Doctor Healmore?! No matter what, each mighty role offers up a unique way to play. Story Quest lets players team-up locally by sharing Joy-Con controllers, while Party Quest enables users to play together on one system, via local wireless, or online. Plus, tapping compatible amiibo™ figures/accessories will earn you extra fragments to help craft new gear! Are you ready? For Kirby, the answer is always fight and flight.
(This description was reused for the game on the My Nintendo Store.)[2]
Trivia[edit]
- The cover artwork for Super Kirby Clash depicts Team Kirby in Rarity 3 gear. This is likely meant to symbolize the leveled-up nature of the game compared to its predecessor, Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, which had Rarity 2 gear in its artwork.
- The 7th Maximus Cup in Tetris 99 was themed around this game. It was available between September 20, 2019, at 12:00am PST through September 23, 2019, at 11:59 pm PST. Players had an opportunity to unlock a theme based on Super Kirby Clash for use in Tetris 99 and would also be rewarded 99 Gem Apples for use in the former.
- The song used in the end credits for this game (titled Green Tree Memories from Kirby) is the first song in a Kirby game to have sung lyrics.
- Inputting the code +/- and Y (Pro Controller / vertical Joy-Con) or +/ and B (horizontal Joy-Con) on the credits selection in the Options menu after clearing Super: The True Final Battle will take the player to the standard credits sequence initially accessible from a brand-new save file. A similar code is also present in Kirby Fighters 2.
