A Mariel is a spider-like enemy that debuted in Kirby's Dream Land 3. A Mariel starts out as black sphere resting on the ground, but as soon as Kirby approaches it, it grows four thin, long spider legs, gains a pair of tiny, white eyes and begins to walk around on top of the platform that it is on. Mariels appear to be venomous, as inhaling and swallowing one reduces Kirby (or, if he is the one that swallowed the enemy, Gooey's) Stamina by half a unit.

Mariel is a black orb-shaped spider-like enemy that appears in Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. When at rest, it appears as nothing more than a black circle on the ground, but as soon as it is disturbed, Mariel reveal its four long spindly legs, opens its two tiny white dot eyes, and begins to walk around. Mariel is not safe for Kirby or Gooey to ingest, as doing so results in them taking damage. Instead, it should be taken out using some other attack.

Mariel makes its first appearance in Kirby's Dream Land 3, debuting in the sixth stage of Grass Land. In this game, it can sometimes be found resting directly in front of doors, making it hard to see due to its black color. This tendency to hide in doorways and its general appearance makes Mariel similar in some ways to the enemy Nidoo from the same game.
