Overview
The middle sections of Flower Fields bear little resemblance to the beginning and end sections. The peaceful scenery changes to a rainy, bleaker background and a murky waterway dotted with large lily pads and Blippers. Beads in the water are arranged to form the shape of fishes. The swimming portions in this area are the first instance in the game to require the Submarine transformation in order to progress. Other elements include large fabric frogs in the sky with Buttons on their tongue, which activates the Pendulum transformation and lowers the tongue in the upswings. The Frog Umbrella Stand and Flower Fields music are found hidden in this area. Portions of the wheel containing bonus stars for the Bonus Bell can also be found.

Along the way, Kirby encounters dandelions with buttons attached to them. When latched onto, they activate the Pendulum transformation and fly upwards, eventually disappearing. With these, Kirby can swing to reach high-up platforms he needs to progress.

The Saucer Metamortex Transformation is also introduced in this area after Kirby encounters a Metamortex patch. In co-op play, Prince Fluff will become a second UFO; both having the same abilities. The Saucer is used until a Reel Gate is passed, unwinding the ability from the yarn characters. Several more beads arranged to appear as flowers appear in this final stretch of Flower Fields. Gordos appear immobile and lined up along the ground. The difficulty of controlling the saucer form can cause collisions with the Gordos. Buttonflies and Buttonbees are plentiful just before the reel gate. Several Cloth Blocks need to be destroyed by charging the saucer to release its Thunder Spark power. Thunder Spark can only be activated when enough enemies have been pulled with the Capture Beam.

This article is about the stage in Kirby's Epic Yarn, and should not be confused with Floral Fields.

Flower Fields is the second of the seven stages of Grass Land in Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn. To unlock the stage, Kirby must get the Butterfly Patch from Fountain Gardens. As the name suggests, Flower Fields are full of flowers in both background and foreground elements. Beads are often found arranged as though they were flowers. Interactive flower wheels which rotate when Kirby or Prince Fluff walk on them will sprout beads as the petals grow. Buttons will also be found centered behind background images of flower petals.

Upon clearing the stage for the first time, the Alarm Clock Patch is obtained. This unlocks the next stage, Rainbow Falls. Flower Fields is also the inspiration for Stage 2 of Dedede Gogogo in Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn.

Patch animation

When Kirby throws the Butterfly Patch, it lands in its slot and a butterfly pops out. The butterfly flies around a bit before being joined by a second butterfly. Then a flowers appear around the entrance to the stage, including one flower which completely encircles the entrance, and the stage's door opens.

Overview

Kirby passing through the rainy portion of Flower Fields in a pre-release version of the game

Flower Fields takes place in an grassy area surrounded by large, colourful flowers. In the opening section, Kirby jumps from one flower wheel to another, which rotate when he (or Prince Fluff in the Wii version's co-op mode) stand on them; some sprout beads as the petals grow. Waddle Dees and a Uniclod are the sole enemies in the first portion of the stage. Along the way, Kirby encounters dandelions with buttons attached to them. When latched onto, they activate the Pendulum transformation and fly upwards, eventually disappearing. With these, Kirby can swing to reach high-up platforms he needs to progress.

Eventually, the peaceful scenery gives way to a rainy, bleaker background, with a murky waterway dotted with large lily pads and Blippers. Here, beads in the water are arranged to form the shape of fishes. The swimming portions in this area are the first instance in the game to require the Submarine transformation in order to progress. Along the way, Kirby encounters large fabric frogs in the sky with buttons on their tongue, which activates the Pendulum transformation and lowers the tongue in the upswings, used to access treasures and beads.

Eventually, Kirby exits the rain, where he encounters more dandelions, requirig him to chain his jumps from one to another to reach a Bonus Star.

Metamortex stretch

Soon after, Kirby climbs up a ladder and reaches a Metamortex patch. Here, the Saucer transformation is introduced for the first time. As Kirby navigates throgh the air, he must destroy Cloth Blocks blocking his path by charging the saucer to release its Thunder Spark power. As he progresses, several sets of beads arranged to appear as flowers appear in his path, as well as many Buttonflies and Buttonbees. After travelling downwards, a series of immobile Gordos make collecting beads trickier.

Eventually, Kirby passes through the Reel Gate, with the stage ending shortly afterwards.
