This guardian of the volcano shoots fire from her wings! Avoid getting burned!
— Patch Plaza description

Hot Wings is the boss of Hot Land in Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn.

Physical appearance[edit]

Hot Wings is a large phoenix like bird that is surrounded by fire, though she only gets this fire from the volcano where Kirby fights her.

Patch animation[edit]

Tossing this patch causes a pepper to appear inside the 'mouth' of an anthropomorphized volcano, which results in the volcano getting really hot and erupting. The eruption results on an ominous red glow in the shape of a bird to appear over the volcano, and the door to Hot Wings to be opened.

Hot Wings serves as the boss of Hot Land, and is unlocked after using the Pepper Patch obtained from Dino Jungle. Completing this stage is required to gain access to Treat Land, and obtaining a high bead score is necessary to obtain the Hourglass Patch and access Temper Temple.

Boss battle[edit]

Hot Wings has the abilities to create miniature versions of herself, which she then shoots at Kirby, and also can manipulate the lava and shoot fireballs from her mouth.

At the beginning of the fight, Hot Wings will destroy a Waddle Dee with her flame powers before rising out of the lava. She will then shoot out her kids (called Embirds), which Kirby must grab with his yarn whip and throw back at Hot Wings, creating a lot of beads. This also extinguishes the fire around Hot Wings, allowing Kirby to grab her body, producing even more beads.

Once Hot Wings is defeated, Kirby and Prince Fluff will gain the third strand of the Magic Yarn and the path to Treat Land. Also, if they have enough beads, they will also get the Hourglass Patch, unlocking the Temper Temple level, which will then unlock the Dusk Dunes level.

In Devilish Mode, Ye-Devil also appears to attack Kirby during the entirety of the boss battle.

Medal Bead scores[edit]

  • Bronze - 350 points
  • Silver - 700 points
  • Gold - 1100 points
  • Patch - 1500 points

A perfect score in this fight is 2200 points.
