"Pink Ball Activate!" is an energetic 2/4 theme in the Dorian D minor, performed primarily with electronic instruments. It has an introductory segment teetering between C and B. The melody then comes in performed by an electric guitar, each phrase ranging within a fourth. The first phrase is heard again a whole tone lower. The second phrase consists of a descending passage and an ascending sixth, followed by harmonized beat. The aforementioned repeats, leading up to the middle section in E minor. The first phrase now ranges within a fifth. It plays thrice, and the melody revolves around the dominant. The phrase modulates back to D minor, and after the second phrase plays, the track loops.

Pink Ball Activate! is a musical piece composed by Hirokazu Ando, first appearing in Kirby: Planet Robobot.

Composition[edit]

"Outlaw Driver" begins with a different start-up on brass. The boss theme from Kirby's Adventure is used as a bridge and for the bass for the majority of the song after, with "Pink Ball Activate!" playing over the top.

"Final Takeoff" is structurally similar to "Outlaw Driver", albeit heavily mixed with "The Noble Haltmann" and "Re: Green Greens".

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]

Pink Ball Activate! serves as the theme of the Robobot Armor and has been rearranged into several versions in Kirby: Planet Robobot's soundtrack, including:

  • Outlaw Driver - the track that plays when the Robobot Armor enters Wheel Mode in Rhythm Route - Stage 4. This track is also used as the title & ability room music of The Arena.
  • Final Takeoff - the track that plays during the Story Mode cutscene of the Robobot Armor scanning the Halberd to become Halberd Mode.

"Pink Ball Activate!" can be found as Track 9 in Kirby: Planet Robobot's Jukebox, "Outlaw Driver" can be found as Track 44, and "Final Takeoff" can be found as Track 90. The theme is also used as the music of the Nintendo 3DS Theme "Kirby Planet Robobot: Robobot Armor Activate!"

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe[edit]

"Final Takeoff" is re-used for the battle against Parallel Landia in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

In Kirby Star Allies, "Pink Ball Activate!" is reused in the Extra Planet δ stage during the Friend Star portion. "Outlaw Driver" is reused during the Mid-Boss battle with Bugzzy and Vividria on Extra Planet γ.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

Pink Ball Activate! makes an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as one of the many Kirby songs that can be played on Battlefield, Small Battlefield, Big Battlefield, Final Destination and any Kirby stage. The theme also plays in the Spirit Battles of the Robobot Armor and Susie.

Super Kirby Clash[edit]

"Final Takeoff" gets remixed with additional instrumentation over-top the original track for the Tougher and Toughest Landia EX battles and the Toughest Party Quests against Team Colossal Quad, Hornhead, Spark Bonkers, Ignite Edge and Blocky.

Kirby Fighters 2[edit]

The original version of Pink Ball Activate! is the default track for the Gigavolt Battle Stage. A remix of the song can be unlocked as the stage's secret song when the player reaches Fighters Rank 97.
