The Legendary Air Ride Machine

|
"The Legendary Air Ride Machine", also referred to as "City Trial: Legendary Air Ride Machine", is the name of a musical piece which first appeared in Kirby Air Ride. It is directly related to the legendary Air Ride machines.
Composition[edit]

"The Legendary Air Ride Machine" is an orchestral, heroic-sounding theme that plays in the key of F Minor. The intro begins with a slower 148 beats per minute before it abruptly increases in tempo when the main section of the song starts, which is primarily played at 155 BPM. The main melody repeats once, with the repeated part having a slight deviation in notes, especially before the transition to the second section. Part of the second section of the song also slows down with a similar tempo as the intro, before quickly jumping back to the original tempo as the song nears its looping point.
Game appearances[edit]
Kirby Air Ride[edit]
"The Legendary Air Ride Machine" debuted in this game. It plays in City Trial when a racer assembles either the Dragoon or Hydra. Once this theme begins playing, it will continue to do so - overriding all other music that can play - until the timer runs out.
Kirby: Squeak Squad[edit]
A track in this game named "The Legendary Halberd" features a remix of this theme, with its intro playing "Revenge of Meta Knight (Map)" before fully switching into "The Legendary Air Ride Machine". It can be heard before the battle with Meta Knight and in some mechanical stages. It is first heard in Jam Jungle - Stage 4.
Super Smash Bros. series[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, an orchestral arrangement of "The Legendary Air Ride Machine" is one of the many tracks that can be played in the Halberd stage. It was arranged with a live orchestra by Shogo Sakai.
It returns in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U (where it is one of several tracks that can be played in Smash Run on the 3DS version and can be played on the Halberd stage on the Wii U version) and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (where it can be played on any Kirby stage, Battlefield, Big Battlefield, Small Battlefield and Final Destination).
Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition[edit]
When selecting Kirby Air Ride in the "Kirby's History" mode, "The Legendary Air Ride Machine" plays.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[edit]
A remix of "The Legendary Halberd" from Kirby: Squeak Squad can be unlocked by collecting one of the Treasure Chests found in the Kirby + Kirby stage, to then be played in the Music Room.
Other appearances[edit]
This theme was featured in the "Kirby Air Ride Medley" in the Kirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert. It is very similar to the Super Smash Bros. Brawl version.
