"Bouncing Boss Battle" is a musical piece composed by Hirokazu Ando and serves as the regular boss battle theme in Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
Composition
"Bouncing Boss Battle" shares the melody of the second section of "Floral Fields", which is one of the main leitmotifs of Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
In addition to electronic music, brass instrumentation and piano are featured in this theme.
Game appearances
Kirby: Triple Deluxe
Being the regular boss theme, "Bouncing Boss Battle" is used in the boss battles against Flowery Woods, Paintra, Kracko, Coily Rattler, and Pyribbit in both Story Mode and Dededetour!. The song can be found as Track 15 in the game's Jukebox.
An arrangement of "Bouncing Boss Battle" is also used in the sub-game Kirby Fighters, as the battle transition theme for Shadow Kirby in the Single-Player campaign. This arrangement was also done by Hirokazu Ando, and can be found as Track 52 in the Jukebox.
Kirby Fighters Deluxe
A portion of "Bouncing Boss Battle" is remixed into the title screen theme of Kirby Fighters Deluxe, itself titled "Kirby Fighters Deluxe",[1] which plays at the same tempo as the original and is in B Minor. It also uses a phrase from "The World to Win" and shortly thereafter quotes "Revenge of the Enemy." This remix was done by Hirokazu Ando.[2]
"Bouncing Boss Battle" is also remixed into the main battle transition theme for the Single-Player campaign, and additionally plays during the final phase of the fight against Team DDD in all modes besides Very Hard. Shadow Kirby's battle transition theme in the Kirby Fighters sub-game is also reused for the intro screen before fighting Kracko.
Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe
In the Sub-Game upgrade spinoff Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe, "Bouncing Boss Battle" is remixed with a slower tempo to serve as the music for the fourth stage. This arrangement was done by Hirokazu Ando.
Kirby: Planet Robobot
In The True Arena in Kirby: Planet Robobot, "Kirby Fighters Deluxe" is reused for Mid-Boss All-Stars 2. It can be found as Track 104 in the Jukebox.
Kirby Battle Royale
In Kirby Battle Royale, "Kirby Fighters Deluxe" is once again used for the Kirby clone ambush in the prologue to Dedede's Cake Royale. The song can be found in the music section of Collection Lists with the title "Prologue 3".
Kirby Star Allies
In Kirby Star Allies, the Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe version of "Bouncing Boss Battle" is reused for the Twin Bonkers Mid-Boss battle on Extra Planet β. It can be found as Track 99 in the Jukebox as of Version 4.0.0.
The original version of "Bouncing Boss Battle" is reused for certain Ambush/Mid-Boss All-Stars battles on the Sizzling Threat, Infernal Crisis, Soul Melter and Soul Melter EX difficulties of The Ultimate Choice. It can be found as Track 201 in the Jukebox as of Version 4.0.0.
Kirby Fighters 2
After beating Story Mode: The Destined Rivals, a new menu theme becomes available for the game, named "History of Kirby Fighters"[3]. As the name implies, this theme is a medley of the title themes from the first three Kirby Fighters games. This same remix, with an extended intro, is also the Secret Song for the Stage of the Partners. This medley was arranged by Hirokazu Ando[3].
"Kirby Fighters Deluxe" is remixed for the theme song of Kirby Fighters 2's Single-Handed Mode. Notably, it adds a new second section to the song featuring a faster, more frantic version of "Hypernova Inhale", just like in "The World to Win". In the same mode, the original Single-Player battle transition theme from Kirby Fighters Deluxe is also reused for most battle intro screens, while a new orchestral arrangement of Shadow Kirby's battle transition theme from the original Kirby Fighters is also used prior to his battle on Easy, Normal and Hard difficulties in addition to chapter 4 of Story Mode.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe
In Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, the "History of Kirby Fighters" arrangement from Kirby Fighters 2 plays in the Tower of Mid-Bosses in Nutty Noon - Stage 5 in Extra Mode if one takes the secret path.
