"Blazing! Boss Battle" is a theme from Kirby's Return to Dream Land. It is the primary boss battle theme of the game and its remake.

Composition

A blazing boss battle against Mr. Dooter.

"Blazing! Boss Battle" is a dramatic piece that plays in F minor, at 2/4. It begins with a low-pitched intro that sets the tone. Each phrase of the track plays twice, and each subsequent theme sounds at a higher pitch and includes new instruments. It is full of accidentals, most notably B natural, which accents the dominant, and D natural, which allows for brief modulations. The climax of the piece sounds as a tutti, revolving around a dramatic F. The track loops immediately after the climax comes to an end.

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land and its remake, this theme plays during the boss battles against Whispy Woods, Mr. Dooter, Fatty Puffer, Goriath and Metal General, as well as their EX forms in Story Mode and Extra Mode.

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, an arrangement of "Blazing! Boss Battle" named "Hot! Elemental Boss Battle" plays during the Electricky Dooter, Fiery Puffer and Hydriath boss battles in Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler and The True Arena. This arrangement plays in A minor with the heavy use of electric guitars, and uses various themes from the game, such as "Welcome Your New Overlord", "Judgment of the Malus Pumila", and "Another Dimension". This arrangement was composed by Yuki Shimooka.

Kirby: Planet Robobot

In Kirby: Planet Robobot, the original version of the track sees use during the Gigant Edge and Mr. Frosty quests in the Team Kirby Clash sub-game.

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe

The original version of the track sees use once again in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, during the Colossal Double-Team quest and the Tough-rank quests against Colossal Triple-Team, Gigant Edge, King Doo, Kibble Blade and Miasmoros.

Kirby Star Allies

In Kirby Star Allies, "Blazing! Boss Battle" plays unchanged from its original appearance during the Mid-Boss Ambush Type B of the easier difficulty modes (Sweet Breeze to Sizzling Threat) of The Ultimate Choice.

Super Kirby Clash

In Super Kirby Clash, a percussion-heavy remix of the original "Blazing! Boss Battle" plays during the Tough-rank Party Quests against Frost Kibble Blade, Ice Dragon and Telepathos. In addition, the original version from Kirby's Return to Dream Land remains unused in the game files.

Trivia

In the files of Kirby's Return to Dream Land, this song is named is b_dedede01. This indicates that the song was likely written for a boss battle with King Dedede; as the final game does not feature a Dedede boss fight, it would presumably have been used in the canceled ''Kirby'' for Nintendo GameCube.
