"Kirby Fighters Deluxe"[2] is the main theme of the game with the same name. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.[1]

Composition[edit]

The Kirbys prepare to duke it out.

"Kirby Fighters Deluxe" is an energetic theme set in B minor and 4/4 with primarily electronic instrumentation. It combines elements from the main motifs of Kirby: Triple Deluxe ("Floral Fields" and "Spring Smash Factory") with several of the game's boss-related themes ("Bouncing Boss Battle", "The World to Win" and "Revenge of the Enemy"). Hirokazu Ando described the process of creating the theme in a Miiverse post:

The title track, which serves as the "face" of the game, was conceptually created by merging the opening music from Kirby: Triple Deluxe with some exciting boss battle music.

I gave it a fresh twist by using frequency modulation sound sources, which weren't used in the previous game, to make the melody stand out. By doing this, I tried to make it feel like a new theme, but one that still solidly fits in the world of Kirby.
— Hirokazu Ando on Miiverse[3]

The theme begins with an intro based on the ending of "Spring Smash Factory", which sets the key. The first section of the theme presents an iteration of "Bouncing Boss Battle", played at the same tempo as the original theme; however, its ending is more harmonically tense, as its stretches across wide intervals forming a double dominant progression. Rather than repeating exactly, the first section of "Bouncing Boss Battle" is broken up into smaller intervals playing in quicker succession, signifying the arrival of the second section of "The World to Win", whose "Hypernova Inhale" shares thematic roots with "Bouncing Boss Battle" in "Floral Fields". The ending of the corresponding section from "The World to Win" follows accordingly. Immediately after, the first section of "Revenge of the Enemy" kicks in. Just as abruptly as it came, the theme soon switches back to "Bouncing Boss Battle" for the track to loop.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby Fighters Deluxe[edit]

"Kirby Fighters Deluxe" serves as the title screen theme of the eponymous game.

A shortened 3-second version of the title screen music also plays on the 3DS HOME Menu.

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]

In The True Arena in Kirby: Planet Robobot, "Kirby Fighters Deluxe" is reused for Mid-Boss All-Stars 2. It can be found as Track 104 in the Jukebox.

Kirby Battle Royale[edit]

In Kirby Battle Royale, "Kirby Fighters Deluxe" is reused for the Bronto Burt and Kirby clone ambushes in the prologue to Dedede's Cake Royale. The track can be found in the music section of Collection Lists with the title "Prologue 3".

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

In Kirby Star Allies, the original version of "Kirby Fighters Deluxe" is left unused in the game files, bearing the same internal name it had in titles starting with Kirby: Planet Robobot up until Kirby Fighters 2.

Kirby Fighters 2[edit]

After beating Story Mode: The Destined Rivals, a new menu theme becomes available for Kirby Fighters 2, named "History of Kirby Fighters".[4] As the name implies, this theme is a medley of the title themes from the first three Kirby Fighters games, which includes "Kirby Fighters Deluxe". This same remix, with an extended intro, is also the Secret Song for the Stage of the Partners. This medley was arranged by Hirokazu Ando.[4]

"Kirby Fighters Deluxe" is arranged for the theme song of Single-Handed Mode alongside its relative themes, "Bouncing Boss Battle" and "The World to Win".

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, the "History of Kirby Fighters" arrangement from Kirby Fighters 2 plays in the Tower of Mid-Bosses in Nutty Noon - Stage 5 in Extra Mode if one takes the secret path.

Other appearances[edit]

Starting with Kirby: Planet Robobot, "Kirby Fighters Deluxe" represents its game of origin in the Past Adventures menu.
